i think it would be nice if you scored more XP for killing a more experienced player. eg you should get more XP for killing a level 4 medic than you would for killing a level 0 soldier.
more XP for killing more experienced players
I agree on this one, a “rookie” who beats a “pro” should be more rewarded, that is the nicest part of this XP system, most games dont have such a system and they only can reward this in their stats this is an afterwards rewarding which doesnt benefit the player while he plays.
That’s a good idea bani. You should get current XP + difference in average skills level. Maybe even if this works out to be a minus for the difference (maybe cap the total gained to a minimum of 1 XP).
It may well help to even out the campaigns for new entrants.
Quote : "most games dont have such a system and they only can reward this in their stats "
I like this kind of stat system, they beat the rest
Aestat and his rank matrix for example.
but having this “uber-medic-killed” bonus directly during game would be GREAT/EXCELLENT …
I would now have a reason to fight vs Super Medic with my fg-42 or my Garand
“Uber Medic fly (with nades) but never die .”
I don’t agree to this 1,
if a pro is facing another pro and their shooting their asses of,
and a rookie just passes by and makes the final shot it’s not fair for the pro who did the most damage…
Why you all trying to keep the medic down! Hes just a hard working man who puts his ass in the line of fire to revive your asses
/friendly sarcasm
I like the idea, but I think it should be based on rank. Get more XP for taking down the Colonel… Have like a XP modifier like *.5 or something per rank.
Also just our of curisoity, is ther a medic “health multiplier” like in RtCW? I keep forgetting to look. Like if there are two medics, the health raises to 120, three medics, 130… If it IS there, maybe if that was removed you guys would lay off the medic and focus on say panzers or something?
But be it as it may, I play medic 95% of the time and I guess I suck, cause I seem to not have this uberness… I kill other medics just as easily as I die…
Very true, but why should the “rookie” be awarded 3xp for the kill alone + 3 or 4 more just because he jumped into the fight and stole the kill?
I think it’s a pretty cool idea, nevertheless…
I usually have some pretty good ratios on most pub servers 57/9 ish, so I guess I wouldn’t be helping the “rookies” out all that much.
come and get me!
My 69th post! :drink: :rocker2: :fluffle:
If yall read firing squads interview w/ Locki, there are some hints on where he’d like to see XP go … as in persistent.
I think Ill edit that post w/ a sexier thread title, I want more peeps to read and discuss what Locki talked about in that interview

Maybe XP for kills could be scored based on the actual damage inflicted.
Eg you get 1 XP per 50 damage you cause, and then 1 XP for a kill. So kill a player with full health and you get 3 XP. If the player is already low on health from a battle with someone else and you pick him off with a single pistol shot, you get 1 XP (while the player who had damaged him gets 1 or 2 XP).
Yea that works out great too because that’s almost like the pro thing, as a “pro” will have more health points generally from battlesense and such. and an “uber medic” will have 150 usually… so they get an extra XP point if they kill one with full health.
Good idea Bani! That’d be funny if this one guy survived attack after attack and kept getting healed. When he finally got killed he gives out 100 XP split between everyone that kept trying to kill him. Or would healing cancel out the XP?

You’re still kinda picking on the medic
Since the medic has the most health, hes gonna be soaking up all the rage of the XP whores out there.
And what of the panzer whores? is this damage+kill gonna be stackable? Meaning if you take out a lvl four med youre’ gonna get 3xp +3 for the kill (since its already hard coded that a kill is 3 points…)? Thats 6 points for one shot! And that considering the medic didn’t drop any bags for self heal.
I still like my rank idea, since the people with the most rank are “supposed” to be leading the troops. Make a reward for killing them.
But all in all what’s the point? Its just plain old XP. Its not going towards any skills, unless you make the kill, then it goes towards your weapon focus. And when you are damaging someone you are getting points towards your battlesense.
On second thought, adding XP to such an individual basis with no real worth, would hurt the team play aspect. I don’t think I am favoring this idea anymore… This isn’t a DM game. You’re gonna have people trying to kill the meds intead of completing objectives.
I don’t know where this fits in with the discussion but I think medics are one of the most valuable kills that one can get.
I’m not going to debate the ‘uberness’ or not, to me… if I’m find myself fighting a bunch of guys, and I see one of them in a medic uniform, I’ll try to take out the medic over taking out any of the others that are around.
If I kill them medic… the other guys won’t be able to be revived. If I kill some field ops or a soldier or both and then get killed and the medic is there… I might as well not have killed those guys.
Medics are a valuable kill IMO. Not because they are tougher because of whatever with any of the debatable stuff about regeneration or high hit points or whatever… they can heal and revive the team. If you take out the medics, you take out the enemies ability to survive for longer amounts of time.
So… if you got more xp for killing a med, that would seem right to me. But, I think I agree with you that rank should be the determining factor in getting more xp and such.

Definatley I’m with Jack. I don’t want ET to turn into “hunt the medic” game for pansies, spies, and airstrikes. Leave the game alone, its fine enough, XPs. Too many people care about XPs/frags than team work or winning the game, this ain’t EverCrack for cryin’ out loud.

Well I’m a medic… and to be honest, any smart player knows anyways if you’re running into 2 or more people and one of them is a medic, to take the medic out first! That way you won’t kill the Field Ops and the Medic raises and they both take you out.
Taking out a medic first is crucial regardless.
EDIT: I didn’t see Hugo’s post… he hit it right on.
Wolf has always been a hunt the medic game. If you kill some lame ass sniper or something and the med immediatly revives him, it was pretty pointless, especially with full revive now.
That’s why when I’m a medic I utilize the controversial “hide” strategy. why more people don’t do this I have no idea.
Ah Snipers and Medics. Natural enemies.
The job of the sniper, apart from annoying the other team enough to make em come get you, is to take out medics. Medics first then others.
This has been made a lot harder in ET. In all my play as a sniper I’ve rarely seen a medic taken out with a headshot. In fact, in a previous post, I’ve mentioned that it’s taken as much as 4 shots to drop a medic.
stupid idea…
because any n00b can launch an airstrike in the middle of the action and take out 3 guys…
keep it how it is
