Okay yeh I couldnt tell because of the annoying accent.
On the other hand I can tell that they both have the exact same quote; “They cant hit what they cant see.” Which means that they have almost definitely had some contact with each other in the least in the past. And in response to the accent thing, accents can be changed and arent always necessarily from where you were born, and people can move. eg Redeye moving around a bit for his missions goes to, I dont know, America, and has a kid there, then he goes somewhere else and leaves the kid to grow up without a father and turn into a little rebellious idiot. Someone somewhere thinks “Lets straighten this boy out by sending him to his ace Recon father,” that doesnt work out either and he turns into the rebellious, bad at recon kid that we all have either a passionate hate for or an intense love for.

@Octosquid It doesn’t. Redeye’s lore doesn’t even state he has a son, also, Redeye was discharged for “knowing to much about everyone in the regiment” and he was only a corporal in the Australian SAS, he can’t sign people up for R&D. Not to mention the fact that Phantom’s nationality is listed as American on the wiki so it’s unlikely that he’s just an Australian with an American accent.

I live and went to highschool in Texas, my networking teacher slightly resembles Bushwhacker, had a very similar accent, smoked like a chimney, had a mustache, and was a Veteran. He was also cool as shit lol. Practically the inspiration for Bushwhacker now that you say it lol.

It never says that he has a son. I am speculating.
The lore states that Phantom got his commanding officer discharged after he stole the suit by planting incriminating evidence in his office. More specifically livestock. Thats from Phantoms release notes. To quote from the patch. 'Phantom promptly stole the suit and used it to plant incriminating evidence/livestock in his former commanding officers quarters."
Thinking chronologically, if Phantom werre to get his commanding officer discharged and then head for mercenary work then his ex commanding officer would be looking for work shortly after Phantom started looking for work. Eg Two weeks later in the next update (If you dont get it yet Im implying its Redeye.).
gg2ez like I said, Redeye hypothetically traveled to America, got it on there and then went back to Aus or wherever his missions took him. Therefore yeh, he would be from america, and also he wouldnt have an aus accent either because his father wasn’t there.

To further help, Redeye behaves a lot like his son in his earlier years, he refuses to follow orders and gets dropped back down to Trooper for insubordination.

Now hes taken to the private sector hes his own boss for a change. Too bad his sole employee is a total buffoon who hates his waste of space boss.
Ok now im just confused, I might have gotten the time line out of whack, and instead of Phantom being sent to the army he was sent to the private sector where his father was. Seems the lore misses out this total buffoon incriminating his officer. Oh I dont know I cbf’d. Who the hell is this total buffoon if not his son and why is there no mention of anything deeper than these surface facts? Only total buffoon I can think of in the sector is Phantom. Only merc I can think that Phantom would think is a waste of space is Redeye, as he would be there along with half the community.

I have an idea. Why not give the new community manager a treat and try and get him to confirm/ deny/ beat around the bush concerning this idea? @RazielWarmonic Huehuehue. I wonder if you are allowed to tell us? Its probo a no but hey, its worth a shot.
