Max lvl 20 is a rip off

I thought this thread was about how lots of the outfits looked like something from a Dolph Lundgren idol poster…

(king_troll) #42

brink is based on the all of the action men of soho in london, to the outside the whole of london is soho

(Coolaguy) #43

I would argue that your claim is decidedly untrue in this instance. Splash Damage didn’t make the leveling process in Brink a long or difficult one for good players. The fact that one can hit level cap in less than a day’s worth of playtime (if you are sufficiently determined) illustrates this.

In the instance of Brink, the Leveling system seems more geared toward easing players into the gameplay mechanics and the interplay and specialization of classes.

If everything were unlocked and available from the outset, the sheer variety would be overwhelming, and deciphering actual in-game interactions would introduce yet another incredibly steep learning curve to overcome. I know that I found the game confusing at first, even with a solid personal background in First-Person-Shooters.

Brink is a multi-layered game where, in addition to a basic level of proficiency and a clear understanding of the objective, there are multiple nuances in terms of how a player can go about achieving the task at hand. In fact, Brink is so deep and so fast-paced that it can actually be quite difficult to figure out what is actually going on at times or what you should be doing. Even when you clearly understand your purpose there is a frenetic level of urgency and pacing that can make the gameplay seem overwhelming in Brink.

Leveling in Brink seems to be mostly about decreasing the difficulty of the learning curve, because there really doesn’t seem to be much of an immersive, deep, or compellingly repeatable process beyond the unlocks that you can achieve on your first play through (IMO).

i got a level 19 almost 20 a level 10 and a level5 in one weekend. But guess what. i still play it, know why? somehting games have been made for. ITS FUN!

(sk1nk) #45

This is why they should have not put any of this leveling BS in the game to begin with. The people that need xp, achievements, unlocks, etc. really aren’t looking for an FPS. It’s like they’re trying to please both the hardcore FPS guys and the new generation of dangling carrot gamers. They’ll end up failing on both fronts if they’re not careful. I say get rid of the xp and unlocks all together and just focus on making this the best competitive FPS game they can.

(gmonet420) #46

wow there sure is alot of comments that do not have any backbone like “kids dont know what a fps is” I am no kid and I started playing FPS when counterstrike was the hot****. The problem I have with brink lies not only on the surface as the objectives are boring and take away from the killing… but the fact that this so called S.M.A.R.T system was supposed to be useful and unique… I see it as nothing new and there is no point to jumping around when you can use a 70 round SMG to kill 4 people in 2 seconds. I guess the different playstyles may keep you entertained for about 30 minutes but when it comes down to it, this game lacks definition get at me on xbox 360 and tell me im not the best plz I will accept any challenge that comes my way and you will see why brink is lame. I hate the game yet no one can beat me. And i’m too stubborn to go back to CoD cuz as alot of you said it is over rated and over played.

(Angry Koltova) #47

I dont get why people are like this. Maybe i’m the only gamer who is a true gamer and can play all types of games. on a free day i’ll play 2 hours of CoD, 5 hours of Fallout, 2 hours of Brink, and 3 hours of Phantasy Star. I would play others but thats all i have at the moment really other than BF:BC2 and oblivion. I also dont get why people HATE blops and not MW2. they’re both good but MW2 is filled with stupid annoying crap like running classes and noob tubes and blops has horrible lag deaths. I would play more brink if they would just fix the lag.

(Oschino1907) #48

Wow! You are either a TROLL or just a complete moron… Either way this game and community would be better without you so PLEASE go back to COD.

Have this :stroggtapir: as a parting gift. See you next time on “To Catch A Troll”

(NathanDavid) #49

The problem is clear, gmonet420. You don’t understand that it’s not about YOU, it’s about the team. You’re ability to complete an objective through teamwork is more important than individual skill.

Of course the game is going to be lame if all you want is to dual. The game wasn’t designed this way.

(Rubbaduren) #50

I think they could add something for when you reach lvl 20. Achievments that would encourage people to try different classes, playstyles etc. I see many players want even more customization, perhaps have make it so that some of the customization unlocks would come from these kind of achievements. Just a thought
Only being able to get to lvl 20 is a rip off, had this game 5 days beat every lvl and lvled up a character to lvl 20 did all challenges and already am tired of the maps, I need to know that there is going to be a simple team deathmatch or ctf coming in the DLC or else I am going to have to trade this game in. 5 days and already bored… what’s that tell you? That maybe I play too much… you would think so but if it had a timer keeping track of how much i’ve played its probably been about 2 hours… I know many have said this and will continue to say this but if you read these forums before buying the game… dont buy it… rent it… not worth 60 dollars. I am the top over all player and the player with the most kills in every single round I play and its still not fun… epic fail. gg SD.

BTW played this on xbox 360 doubt PC or PS3 are any different or better… wait for a different game to come out if your going to buy one, this one is garbage.
I agree hitting lvl 20 so fast is kind of a rip off. I say this because the way they have things setup there really is no reason to make numerous characters. I don’t get why body-types are not a permanent choice when making a character. I can see why faction isn’t for competition and balancing purposes but making body-types a permanent choice would make characters more individualized and there would be more reason to create more characters to tryout different body-type and class combinations.

Also it doesnt really make sense scars and tattoos are permanent yet your body you choose isn’t?

I have no issue with reaching lvl 20 so fast my issue lies in the fact they really leave you no reason to make multiple characters to fill those 10 character slots. They need to make more choices have consequences and be permanent so they people have a reason to build new characters and try new things. This will expand the games life cycle and make characters more unique.

Also guns need to be made more practical. As it stands right now SMG’s are really the only useful weapon in Brink since they have less recoil, more accurate, higher RoF and do about the same dmg as Assault Rifles. Assault Rifles should be more accurate and have less kick and wonder when shooting then an SMG it makes no sense. Also needs to do a bit more dmg to compensate for the SMG’s high RoF.

Then the light rifles and semi-auto AR’s need to have a faster recovery time from each shot. They take way too long to recover from firing and are completely inaccurate when moving meaning you have to be still so they need to do something to balance this out and make them worth actually using.

Also shotguns seem a bit useless with how slow they fire and the dmg they put out killing people in 2-5 shots depending on buffs and there accuracy is horrible especially when moving. They need to make the spread a bit tighter and rate of fire a bit faster or up the dmg.

They Also need to give some of the classes more things to do to help the team or more objectives to do during a match to make them more useful. Engineers and Medics seem to be the only classes really worth a dam since they do pretty much everything in game.

On that note I think there needs to be more then one main objective going for some parts of maps to switch things up and break teams up. For example say the first part of a match you need to plant a charge on a door. Alright well why that is going on maybe another main objective would be to get to a control room and hack a panel so after you blow the door there security systems don’t go off and kill everyone.

Like I said this would add another dynamic to the game as sometimes your team would have to spilt into two’s or maybe even three’s sometimes and do multiple objectives to move on. That completely changes the game and adds a new element because depending on how you split your team and how the enemy reacts things coudl come out very interesting.

EDIT: Also I think they need to create more challenges for players to do.

(Litego) #52

Are you serious? No wonder you’re bored out of your mind! I did the challenges once and Im not planning on doing them again any time soon. They may have good XP, but they’re boring as hell! Freeplay is where its at! And honestly, who gives a **** about XP anyways?

(fearlessfox) #53
First OP, it’s not really okay to use “gay” or “gayness”–however you spell it–as a pejorative. Not saying you’re a homophobe or anything, but there are better words you can use to get your point across.
.
To be fair, the word was taken when it already had a meaning. And the two people I know who use the word this way the most are gay themselves.

And OP, you have plenty more XP to grind. One level 20 is nowhere near the full scope of builds.

(xXHugDangerXx) #54

I’m glad it doesn’t take that long to level up to 20, iv got 5 charter builds at the moment and I see myself making 3-4 more.

None of my guys are past level 16 yet with 2 being about level 6.

Anyone who feels like they are maxxed and done when they have got 1 character build at level 20 obviously has no imagination.

(totallyREEM) #55

jesus, its a BALANCED fps not a fuking rpg - sort it out!

(Dorian Gray) #56

I’ll be glad when I’m done leveling. Then I can just concentrate on playing the game. I play games to enjoy myself. I don’t need some leveling system to pat me on the back constantly because I don’t get enough attention at home.

(BeyondSpectrality) #57

My big question for the OP is how are CTF and TDM going to be less boring and less “generic” ? How would you have more fun playing those than objective based maps? Are you really happy to go to level 50 and get a fun or two per level until you hit 50 and then start all over with your generic military soldier?

Cool story, bro.

Go back to CoD.

(santo) #58

For real dude. stop trying to use shooters to satisfy your pokemon/WoW needs. if playing a game isnt fun for you, its most undeniably isn’t your game.

(TruGamer97) #59

most likely you spent your points from leveling up on abilities for one class so make a new character and focus on another class

(totallyREEM) #60

spot on :penguin:
