Max lvl 20 is a rip off

(SphereCow) #21

It tells me you’re pretty stupid, actually.

“I am bored of a shooter where I do multiple things, so I want them to include a gametype where I do 1, or 2 things. Kill other players, or kill other players and capture a flag.”

You’re also looking to play an MMO if you want to get to Level 80. Move along.

(Calelith) #22

Dude you give console gamers a bad name.

Levels mean nothing, and who needs new maps if the old ones are good? look at all the games with lots of maps most people want to play the same ones over and over.
Only being able to get to lvl 20 is a rip off, had this game 5 days beat every lvl and lvled up a character to lvl 20 did all challenges and already am tired of the maps, I need to know that there is going to be a simple team deathmatch or ctf coming in the DLC or else I am going to have to trade this game in. 5 days and already bored… what’s that tell you? That maybe I play too much… you would think so but if it had a timer keeping track of how much i’ve played its probably been about 2 hours… I know many have said this and will continue to say this but if you read these forums before buying the game… dont buy it… rent it… not worth 60 dollars. I am the top over all player and the player with the most kills in every single round I play and its still not fun… epic fail. gg SD.

BTW played this on xbox 360 doubt PC or PS3 are any different or better… wait for a different game to come out if your going to buy one, this one is garbage.
Really? You played two hours and got to lvl 20? I have been playing since it came out and I’m pretty good, yet I’m only lvl 18.

(SphereCow) #24
I already have 2 level 20’s and a third level 14.

Some of us aren’t casual gamers and are on summer break from school.

I use level 3 escort challenge to get 8k XP/10 mins.
That’s like complaining that traffic laws don’t prevent you from killing other people, and proving it by driving your car on the sidewalk.

The only thing I feel bad about is the consumer base for FPS games. Some of you people are legit retarded.

It’s not a rip off if you didn’t know what you were paying for. And it’s not like they lied to you. Nowhere did Splash Damage advertise this game to be a deep role-playing experience.

Can’t blame him completely, though. Infinity Ward is in part at fault here. Even though I am a fan of the Modern Warfare series, it has negatively affected its younger audiences who have never experienced a true first-person shooter. No longer is the game driven by developed skill and teamwork, but rather in-game status with ranks, levels and unlockable content.

A lot of the complaints you see are crying for MORE! I want more maps, I want more guns, I want more models and customizable gear! Game play mechanics have been so dumbed down in recent titles that no one even cares to bring up the true issues behind the difference between a good game and a bad game.

Trust me, more content won’t make the game better. It MAY give the game some longevity, but right now Splash Damage is fighting for an audience, they need numbers first. Then they can worry about keeping us around.

+Props to Sleazebaggins. Great post.

Agreed, these kids growing up with COD don’t understand that people used to play games for fun and not for leveling up. It cracks me up when a COD kid is done leveling in COD and realizes he does not like the game anymore because he is done leveling; pathetic.

(Kill5Joy) #27

can we all just stop bagging on CoD? I personally love Brink and every CoD except for Modern warfare2 and CoD 3. There’s a reason they’re the best selling games in history. I will admit though, I hate playing raving clans of ten year olds who just figured out that the can cuss like sailors to adults with no punishment.

(Shotgun Surgeon) #28

Just because they’re the best selling games doesn’t mean they’re the best. BC2 was EASILY better than MW2 and Black Ops. But COD is the “cool” game to play these days. People buy COD just because it’s COD. Most gamers are casual gamers and most casual gamers are uninformed, so they go with what everyone else is playing… not because it’s good, but because everyone is doing it.

I hate how people think that shooters NEED ranks. The only reason why games should have levels or ranks is to show how experienced that person is in that game. But it shouldn’t be the reason why people keep playing… people should keep playing because a game is fun. Now the whole shooter genre is going to hell because this is what people want and so developers give in and make crappy games with 1000 levels that players can gain and they’ll eat it right up.

(Kurushi) #31

The levelling is just a bit of fun, it doesn’t and shouldn’t make any difference, it’s a skill based shooter… if you’re enjoying the game then who needs levelling?

I’ve put 50 hours in over the weekend and I have not even touched the surface of Brink. Don’t write it off, it’s a very deep game that isn’t apparent at first

(PillowTalk) #32

If you just want to level up in a shooter, go play Global Agenda.

You got it, that’s the only gheyness

have a tapir

:stroggtapir:

(Scip) #34

besides the fact that it s kinda ghey to play a FPS because of leveling up, having a lvl 20 character isnt the end anyway.

you have to build at least 4 different characters in order to max out each class. and then you maybe want to build some hybrids.

(IG THOMBOW) #35

And… Next!

(MF Maou) #36

Phantasy Star Universe and Final Fantasy XI are still up and running.

(NullEleven) #37

Theres the problem, your idea of the perfect game is probably CoD… barf.

I wouldn’t go as for as to compare two games of different types, but Shotgun Surgeon has a point. More sales doesn’t mean a better game, unfortunately.

In my opinion Modern Warfare 2 was probably the best ‘pub game’ ever made. Besides the tubes, cheaters and lack of dedicated servers, it was one of the most well designed games I’ve ever played. It honestly deserves the money it made, even if Activision screwed us over.

Then there was Black Ops. The most highest grossing game of all time? I think I read that somewhere. Either way, whether it is or isn’t, it still made an incredible amount of money. And quite frankly, it was all undeserved. Black Ops was the retarded cousin of the Call of Duty series. Gameplay and performance was just utter trash. I don’t want to get into specifics and of course this is only my opinion, though I know plenty of people that feel the same way, but the point is this:

Marketing has a big roll in selling games; So is being an established franchise. Both of which Activision took a hold of to sell us one huge pile of ****!

This is just to confirm the current state of the video game industry. I bet Modern Warfare 3 out sells Black Ops, but brings nothing new to the table other than more customization!, new perks! and dedicated servers.

Please do not give a response as to how you feel about the Call of Duty series, as one, I don’t care, and two it is besides the point. I was only trying to give an example of how we got sold a piece of trash, which was then hailed 'Game of all Games!.

People like the OP need a fresh lesson in the console FPS. I suggest tying him/her to a chair for 48 hours playing nothing but Goldeneye for the N64 against 3 other similarly-minded dolts. Back before it all became a rank/KD/leaderboard thing, there was Goldeneye, arguably the greatest FPS console game of all time, and do you know what stats were kept after you shut down the power to your N64? Z-E-R-0!!! Yet, it was still the most fun I’ve ever had playing an FPS, because it was about HAVING FUN! You people are the gaming equivalent of the modern athlete. Screw the sport, give me the money and the juice to pad my numbers. Get lost.
