Map Speedruns: On YouTube!

(XVI the Great) #1

THIS THREAD HAS BEEN UPDATED.
Quarry Speedrun added.

The Ark in 3:00, perfect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_uiCZi6Maj0
Quarry in 3:17, perfect: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77ZH3rH6XIY

Note: I will no longer place the descriptions of Speedruns on this post. I fear the post may reach too long and not be able to fit in the edit.

So… remember my Map Speedruns and Supreme Defenses thread on old ETQW forums? Well, Chris and I are stepping up to the plate to beat our supercool times, and having proof of them on YouTube. This is an imperfect speedrun, a demo, if you will, of speed to come.

We always play with 16 players, private match with bots on hard, and never abuse glitches.

Keep tuned for more coolio!

The Ark : Perfect at 3:00
Quarry: Perfect at 3:17

Emm not at all  But you probably posted them in the console forums?

Anyway, interesting video… never seen the 360 version of ETQW. And nice Armadillo kill.

Which map is coming next?

Also, an idea if you like it: you could compare the time to finish the map without enemies to your speedrun time. That would be interesting because it gives a minimum time for the necessary walking etc.

(light_sh4v0r) #3

Not bad at all, although in my memories bots on hard were a little tougher than this.

(timestart) #4

I thought they were on “super easy” before reading the description, they’re definitely better than that on PC.

OP: what’s the point of this video? Just seems to be you playing the map against bots.

(Donnovan) #5

Hey! 360 Quake Wars is very nicely done!!! You get constant frame rate on it?

Seens dificult to make this kind of movie in ETQW since the situations vary to infinitum.

(Ruldolph) #6

ive never seen a bot go that way inthe mcp

(Gradis) #7

i dont get it. bots

(Szakalot) #8

i dont get it either

(Nail) #9

it’s a “Speedrun”, trying to finish a single player level as fast as possible

(XVI the Great) #10

It was Chris. These bots cannot be configured to be “super-accurate” as you can in PC version, just easy/med/hard.

P.S. This is tougher than you think. Just try synchronizing these runs with one other person, and you’ll see the difficulty it takes to curve a map under 5 (4 obj) or 4 (3 obj) minute runs.

(XVI the Great) #11

I would just like to announce that Chris and I have just either perfected or near perfected The Ark with 3:00 flat. This will be on YouTube soon, so keep your eyes peeled- will edit this thread when it’s up. Valley was pretty much previeiwing speedruns as epic as this. I mean, we were pretty mcuh sweating as we counted down the game time (we were both dead, but explosives planted).

(XVI the Great) #12

Ark vid is up. Please, as a note, sway away from the “It’s just bots” responses. You try it, is all I have to say. As a sidenote, I will only be posting on the first post new perfect speedruns- no more “previews”.

I like the “glowing” objectives and pop up style for “power ups”. Its stylistically well done, dare I say it but it looks more polished than the PC version. But I remain a PC snob and refuse to play FPS’s on a game pad.

MOOKA!

yeah, kind of wish the glowing stuff was on the PC eh? But with all that glowing stuff, comes a lot of sacrifices in the 360 version, more so than the PS3 version.

(.Chris.) #15

Seen faster times against real players…

(murka) #16

Yea… it not only lacks good opposition, but you aren’t using faster methods ex icarus which is the fastest vehicle in the game.

(stealth6) #17

this is a cooler ‘speedrun’ timelapse idea:

[QUOTE=stealth6;213928]this is a cooler ‘speedrun’ timelapse idea:

Nobody cares, stop advertising on my thread.

@ Chris, ORLY? Against real players? Since you left it at "real Players’ it assupmtive they weren’t doing anything and let opposing team win.

@ whoever else said real opposition, take the bots on 2v8, then please, oh please, come talk. I’m not sure what your whole “Icarus is faster” method dictates, but that probably would not have gotten me Frontlines - > Door as fast as a Tormy would, if in reference to the final Ark Objective.

Haters.

What some of you fail to realize is that you’re eseentially going 2v8 with a little bit of luck on your side [that bots might reach objecvtive to help]. Keep in mind you’re ALSO taking on Bots who can pull off perfect snipes with rocket launchers and have impeccable tank accuracy. On top of this, oh wait, it’s 2v8.
What tou don’t see in these YouTube videos are how many random bots with RL/Oblit making one of us un-revivable, thus ending a perfect Speedrun. We’ve failed two Quarry Speedruns because of the same reason: As I was dropping out of a Tormentor into the objective, a Bot in the turret of a TANK practically locked on to me and took me down as I was rocketing through the air.

This.
Isn’t.
Easy.

And if it is, do it your freaking self. And it had better be only you and one other person.

(timestart) #19

Do it on PC against non-noobified bots, might take you seriously then.

(XVI the Great) #20

These bots are quite dodgy, and are very, very accurate. WHat customizble bot settings do you have on pc version?
