Make the balance work

(NightingaleZ0) #101
 1. Shuffle vote way more often than not will not pass.
 2. On the few occasions when they do, they may or may not do the job anyways
 3. Spam vote is annoying as hell
 4. Put a time limit on the vote so it cannot be done say after half game (Cuz someone fking got shuffled to a losing team in the last 5 seconds despite being a major factor in securing that victory. Plus the fact, if vote passes too late, the game is already beyond salvation and thus forcing those who worked hard to lose games.
 5. The whole shuffle team thing is more useless than it is useful. What we should just hope for is better matchmaking which devs are working on and perhaps auto match balance that happens early on in game and auto shuffles without voting.

It is impossible to “balance” that kind of games because a team-play game is based on “synergy”. How can you predict the synergy of a group? Especially when each player have 3 loadout cards in his squad? (and you can’t force them to play medic if the team need a medic).
Sometimes I have a very good synergy with a lvl 8 Aura, but a very bad synergy with a lvl 112 Skyhammer… And it isn’t a reason to run a vote shuffle!

The best possible “auto-balance” in that case is to make totally random teams. If that’s totally random, globally it will be uniform. But that prevent to play with friends and some synergies…

Dirtybomb has about no balance issue, that’s just in people’s imagination because they don’t give a sh*t about synergy and what loadout card would help the whole team.

And if you really want to enhance team synergy, then the game should ask “what is your favourite medic loadout card?”, “what is your favourite engineer loadout card?” and then force some random team mates to be medic, some others to be engineer… To obtain a consistent team. That would help 500% more than the annoying and useless “shuffle vote”!
In most matches some players ask shuffle 3 or 4 times. That’s useless and very annoying. Especially in stopwatch when the vote success at the end of the half time and you are switched to the other team…

That vote must be removed.

A more interesting feature would be an “auto-balance” when a team has 2 more players than the other one. Not based on XP, but a random player should be swapped in the other team.
No. Definitely, NO.
Vote shuffle is perfectly fine. It’s the team balance that needs fixing.

@SamillWong : You know, there is lots of more posts to read after that one… As the one before your answer.
Plus, you give zero argument.

“You give zero arguments!” “No you give zero arguments!” “No you!!!”

Why are some people who play this game so selfish?

If it’s ok for others to lose a game fair and square, why can’t you? Stop voting to shuffle teams as soon as it looks like you’re losing.

Take the loss. Move on. Show some self respect.

I lose at this game every single day. Number of vote to shuffle called by me = 0.

Earlier this evening, joined a match on trainyard, right into a spawn trap. 6 players on the opposition,3 on mine. Every player on my team was <level 10, every member of the opposition was >level 10.

4 minutes later, as I delivered the first of the final objectives, the level 39 guy on the other team called a vote to shuffle.

But all he wanted was a fair game right?

Will this get out of hands

You will see after the break on TLC

No need to call for them, the CM said she would be monitoring the thread closely.

Call for who? Indeed i did call for Amerika Ardez and Faraleth buuuuuut i didnt see @RazielWarmonic s post

Given there is no proper form of balancing in the game, it’s pretty much required to be there. Though vote spam should be addressed and if there is say 3 minutes or less for whatever objective a team is on (in objective) or in the case of stopwatch just the 3 minute mark it should be unable to be called. It’s very very unlikely anything would change in that period of time.

On the subject of stomping, it’s disgusting when it happens regardless if I’m being stomped or am on the team stomping, I refuse to spawn camp/kill if on the stomping team though. I call a vote in both instances because those games are clearly unbalanced. You don’t learn anything valuable from stomping or being stomped and it isn’t fun to be on either the winning or losing team in either instance.

(Litego) #111

Remove shuffle? No. Restrict it? Yes.

(Jostabeere) #112

Because they’re bad people. That’s why.

(Backuplight) #113

The game does keep track of wins and losses, not that most (I imagine) care. I feel like at this point we’d be better off with max level 10 servers instead of the max level 5, and then just… every other server. After that, if you’re on a losing team and you’re getting rekt, you no longer have the inexperience excuse.

Just to promote discussion here, though:

What happens when, in a year or two, we have teams of varied levels and one side is still winning by a landslide?

At the end of the day we need to stop looking at levels and start looking at other skill metrics. Auto-shuffle could be nice (though, equally, could be annoying) - until then people just need to actually make better use of the regular shuffle. I’ve regularly been sat on the side who has no chance of losing - I initiate the vote FOR the other team, and it still doesn’t get enough votes. You can only do so much. People “wanting to win” isn’t the only issue imo. I just try to enjoy myself with each game, so long as I’m personally not getting dominated for the whole game I’m enjoying myself.

(watsyurdeal) #114

I don’t enjoy uneven matches, but when I got swapped over 5 times in a single game and nothing changes. Then the problem isn’t game balance, it’s people simply not doing their jobs or focusing on the objective.

(N8o) #115

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

(Sorotia) #116

People want easy games…isn’t much balance to go about unfortunately.

I’ve seen games where there are 2-3 60+'s on one team and just obliterating the other…wont believe how fast the no’s quickly pop up because they’re happy to be carried by the high levels.

Yeah, it’s quite sad.
Shuffle votes rarely succeed.
At one side I dislike them as they are often abused (last ten seconds in a stopwatch game).
And then, when a shuffle is seriously needed, it just won’t happen.
Around 70% vote no or simply don’t vote at all.
That leads to spawn camping, more leaving, even less balance and more toxic chat.
Talking about toxic chat, where is the report function for heavy insulting?

Yesterday I played two really enjoyable Stopwatch games on a minimum 10 server.
The enemies were insane and it was a serious challenge.

These are the real games.
Matches in which people aren’t dicks and don’t want to stomp.
I said it earlier. I may be wrong but I assume it’s not only the game’s fault.

(SiegeFace) #118

I will switch if I can plainly see its a balance issue, im not the best player (killing wise) but I will sacrifice that pointless win on my account to try and get a more balanced game, because this game is best played when two teams who cant get ahead in the virtual tug of war literally hammer everything at each other resulting in some truly insane and hectic amazing awesome adjective spammy gameplay. What I can’t stand is when the enemy team aren’t doing there job properly and defending/attacking the ubjuktivvvezzz or playing there chosen merc roles correctly, or only choose to play vasilli and phantom for instance, then proceed to bitch about balance, same goes when its my own “team” too.

(uWotm8-AU) #119

Most people don’t enjoy unbalanced matches.

Most people just play the cards that they’ve been dealt, without crying about it.

Some games you’ll win, in a landslide, others you’ll get dominated.

The difference is that some people can take a loss, while others go on a forum to cry about it or spam vote to shuffle teams.

Well usually I would dislike this moronic comment, but I don’t want to get you upset again.

(XavienX) #120

Well, sadly it’s the world we live in and there are really stupid/stuck-up people out there. No big surprise.
