Macro usage & Bunny Hoppers

(Nail) #41

Actually it’s ENEMY TERRITORY:Quake Wars

and it’s built on modified D3 engine, I guess we’ll have to wait and see what’s doable for tricks

[edit…bah slow fingers]

Aye… what I mean is from a movement perspective, it is a Quake universe game, strafe jumping and all the good stuff like RL jumps should be in the end product.

This is not a Wolfenstein universe ET game, it is a Quake universe enemy territory game, so it should have all the good stuff that comes along with that!!

(Chasepwner) #43

I think if infantry players are able to jump to gain speed/evade fire, then vehicles should be able to do the same.

(kamikazee) #44

Amen for Husky bouncing!

(SKaREO) #45

What’s that? :?

(underOATH) #46

What’s that? :?[/quote]

I think its illegal in some states…

(Nail) #47

it’s trick jumping with the Quad, something SD has said is in, ie: terrain jumps

(space) #48

lol BF players are going to crappolla their pantalons when they see thier first Quad.

:quake: :quake: :quake: :quake: :quake: :quake: :quake:

woohoo i played Q1 online ctf, Q2 & Q3 so i hardly think i will. You will fear the BF macro idiots who when get the game will bounce around and make you complain like hell(hopefully SD will not allow macro usage).

Wolfenstein:Enemy Territory freezes your movement and aiming while a script is being run. What makes you think Enemy Territory:Quake Wars will be less secure ?

http://www.autohotkey.com They use that to cheat in BF.

does that apply for an external scripting program in addition to custom in-games scripts?

(SCDS_reyalP) #53

That would be impossible, so no.

so the linked “autohotkey” would be able to be used, but i think the point is that there won’t be any useful scripts because of the design?

(Simbot) #55

I dont think SplashDamage would be willing to do the work required to detect macro programs like for N52 speedpad, it would be nice if they did but maybe they could get PunkBuster to scan for it and give servers the option of kicking people using macro program.

We all know PB scans memory and other stuff outside of game, why can’t they detect a macro program and even log its cfg, i’m sure server admins and leagues would love it if PB did that.
We wouldn’t have to worry about illegal macros if PB would do more.

What about macro programmable hardware ? Many controllers and even some mice let you program key sequences to buttons. While this is usually in the driver these days, I can think of a few that were truly keyboard emulating.

Even detecting all the software based ones would be a huge task, and I don’t actually know of much you can do usefully with them in a game like ET. Scripting things like jumps, which is only marginal with in game scripting, is going to be even harder with something that isn’t actually synced with the game.
