Macro usage & Bunny Hoppers

(SCi-Fi) #1

I played BF2 for along time and 2 things annoyed me the most and dont want to see it in Quake Wars!!

  1. Macros usage, as ppl could do multiple moves that noone else could
and was an unfair advantage, for me & others it spoilt the gameplay with
    them jumping+proning+firing http://media.putfile.com/ProneJumping/640.
you wouldnt want Quake wars to end up like this!!!

  2. Bunny Hoppers, Dice never tackled this properly and i hope that SD
see sense & tackle this problem other wise you get idiots bouncing all
    over the place!

ah BF2. Its easy to spot its hallmarks of “dolphin diving” mixed with the fact that it took forever to kill each other at point blank range.

(SKaREO) #3

I think BF2 players pretended they had “bunny hopping.” They must not have seen the bunny hopping from Counter-Strike, because they could hook jump with it too and gain speed like you wouldn’t believe. DICE did tackle bunny hopping by adding a stamina bar and reducing it each jump, making it impossible to truly bunny hop in their games.

I just can’t understand why the BF community whined so much, it made my ears hurt. I read threads like this in the BF communities about 1,000 times before, and I still laugh everytime because Counter-Strike was the king of bunny hopping and no one complained even half as much there.

As for macros, I don’t mind them as long as it doesn’t give anyone a clear advantage. I prefer to use my keyboard and have full control of everything I do, but that’s just me. I don’t like having the computer play the game for me.

What is dolphin diving?

(iwound) #5

Its what dolphins do when no-ones lookin.

I used to love bunny hoppin in cs even though i was useless at it.

(SCi-Fi) #6

so youve played BF2 recently hmm i doubt it very much, if not at all as
ive just played and i can jump for 24 hrs constantly if i wanted and as for
the stamina its been there all the time!!!

In the end all when QW goes into the main stream you will get all the
idiots who will bounce and use macros to gain advantage and find all the
glitches to cheat and so on. All in the sake of a few points on their stats…

All i am sayin this that ive seen the community here and i dont want that
to happen here. if someone can direct me to where i can download et for
wolfenstien i can atleast see what i am dealing with…

106 posts, and you don’t even know where to get ET? Wow!

Dolphin diving vid - very silly if you ask me

(NympH) #9

Do a google search for “bf2 macro” and look at the first result…amazing what people will do to be “better” at the game… :x

I hope SD/id did something to combat macro usage, or it will ruin the game.

(Nail) #10

Just in case you’ve forgotten, this ISN’T BF

(NympH) #11

Just in case you dont know, macros works on any game…if you dont do something to combat them.

(grizzlybear) #12

back to bouncing
personally i love doublejump

(San_Pedro) #13

Can someone please explain what a “macro” is? By the way you guys talk it sounds like movement scripts.

(Sebultura) #14

You won’t get such stupid un-interresting possibilities with ET:QW, but you’ll probably see people making things like “strafe jumps” or what we can call “trick jumps”: if you’ve never played Wolfenstein : Enemy Territory, basically, if you jump, you get far less accuracy, plus you’re loosing stamina bar (is that the correct word ?).

Anyway, in W:Et if people would have the choice to do so, they wouldn’t live more than 2 secs and considering the fact that Quake Wars seems to have a more “nervous” gameplay style (“Quake style”) I don’t see any hope for such things too.

(criminal) #15

WOW! The game isn’t even released yet and already the whining is beginning please don’t turn this into bf2 again.

(Ragnar_40k) #16

Afaik W:ET doesn’t respond to any user input as long as a script is running. So you can have a 1337 movement script, but you won’t be able to aim or shoot as long as it is running. Don’t know if this changed in D3/Q4/ET:QW.

(Nishua) #17

Very silly yes it is. The sad part is that it actually works, give players an advantage when they do it.

(amazinglarry) #18

I had to stop watching before I tore my own eyeballs out. I don’t see what the point of that video was at all, and I mean that in the respect of… somebody made it… what were they trying to show us? How cool they can be jumping over a wooden traffic horse? Every day, my hope in humanity wanes.

(M8DNanite) #19

That video is like 1 years old, its not possible shoot in midair anymore it fixed with patch. Bunnyjumpers are easy target in bf2 nowadays atleast for me, its the ‘lagging’ hitboxes (=crappy shooting feeling) in bf2 that sometimes makes bunnyjumpers survive specially in long range and very close range (jumping over proning guy, i do this quite often).

BUT go and spec some Q4 fights, that jumping is kinda silly, they are almost like hovering all the time.
No to mention the grazy teamfortress concussiongren and rocketjumps.

But its quite interesting to see how SD pulls this, will someone invent some new kind of jumping tricks. The stamina is unlimited in ET:QW at least they said it is in alpha version.

Hello Forum,

hello SCi-Fi, i absolutly agree with, the realism and fun and also the gameplay will be nock out, if they don´t prevent Bunny Hopping in Quake Wars, or implement are server side options or gravity variable. It´s important. Look at Americas Army.
