Brad Oliver of Westlake Interactive, who is willing to help bring this to the mac, had this to say today…

"I dropped them a line a few days back - no response yet. I wouldn’t hold my breath if I were you guys. Even if they did contact me, it could end up sitting in a drawer for months after it’s finished.

It’s probably best to assume that nothing is going to happen. That way if it does go ahead, we can all be pleasantly surprised.

This is probably the last I’ll say on the matter until/unless there is something substantive for me to say."

I dont get it. A LINUX version yet no OSX version?? There just cannot be more Linux players than OSX players.

Just get the code to someone who is willing to code it for the Mac. I mean I dont know much about programming, yet isnt the *NIX platform pretty generic among flavors?

I am definitely going to the dark side because most of my time is spent gaming and Apple just cant compete with the Windows platform when it comes to gaming, yet for a few months I will be using a Mac running OSX, so it would be nice to have ET in the near future. :moo:

I think Linux is mostly used for servers and there numbers are probably quite high. Good luck on the dark side. I’m not a really hardcore gamer, so waiting for these things doesn’t bother me too much. I can understand your frustration though.

Honestly though people I don’t see anyone bothering to put ET on the mac, for whatever reasons. But, seeing as you were all prepared to pay the RIDICULOUS amount of money for a (as far as I am concerned) “non-standard” piece of equipment (be it a good,bad or whatever machine), you are obviously rolling in cash (one poster somewhere else even said “mac people are the sort of people who are prepared to pay for things”) so you can afford to buy an entry level PC too.

This entire thread is like “I bought the space shuttle but I wanna go underwater with the submarine boys as well whinge moan”.

Buy a PC, you don’t have to tell your upper class Ab Fab friends, you can hide it and play ET when you get back from your corporate whoredom and evenings in the wine bar with incredibly expensive high class whores.

I’m actually quite poor, but even then I was willing to buy a new Mac instead of a car because I know it is worth the money I pay for it. I don’t have any rich mac-owning friends! :slight_smile:

I can afford a mac every 5 years, and yes it’s a rather big investment, but it that truely pays off, because I don’t have to buy a new one every 2 years or so like you have to with a PC to stay up-to-date. It amazes me how people can insult each other the way they do in a forum. And it’s all because of a computer. Give me a break. I’m also 32 and married with a 3 year old son, so it puts this kind of nonsense in proper perspective. It’s so petty I find it amusing. PJ, don’t get sucked into the black hole of a PC vs. Mac argument. It’s a dead end.

Anyway, I was hoping someone from SD would comment on Brad Oliver’s offer to help with a mac version. Any takers?

I am not alone in in my quest for a mac-port, this thread prooves it, so I really wouldn’t be too certain about the fact that ET will never come to Mac.

Anyway, have fun @ ET… God i’m sooooooo jealous :clap:
