List your top 3 Brink issues....constructively.

(Kalbuth) #41

I can’t resume into 3, sorry, that’s half what is enough for me :

 1. fix the connection issues and strange general lag appearing sometimes (PC)
 2. fix the horrible sound bugs, and bad interaction with 3rd party VoIP (even Steam VoIP gets bugged!) (PC)
 3. 1 key for all actions? BAD
 4. Fix some map balance, lack of path from spawns, mainly. We don’t like being spawnraped. No, really, I don’t know who said you we did like that, because … we don’t
 5. character speed. Heavy should have current Medium speed, Medium should be kept in between new heavy and current Light, Light is OK. Turtle speed of Heavy currently is just the cherry on the cake making it kind of worthless, the SMART limitations is already enough
 6. LOBBY, better server listing, and please, can we talk to eachother anytime when connected on a server? It’s multiplayer, that means, sometimes we like social interaction.

When buffing (with whatever class) make the camera not follow your target if it gets closer than 6-9 feet.

(Protector) #43

My top 3 issues in Brink are

-No sound sometimes
-Idiots creating new threads for everything on the forum
-People not shooting the Bots to stop them moving (same applies to that black fella and Nechehev)

(Jedibeeftrix) #44

1 + 2 + 3 - not being able to play with my friends.

(system) #45
 1. Sound issues.

 2. Autosmart or smart action on same key as sprint.

 3. Attacking on some maps is ridiculously hard (online)

 4. Have they actually played this game?

(Skysaw) #46
 1. Unclear objective text
 2. Unreliable buff targeting
 3. Whole bag o’ lag

(ratioguy) #47

Wow, we are already at gameplay fixes? There is still technical stuff to work out:

 1. performance
 2. missing sound

Can’t recommend this game without these fixes…

(Mimical Theory) #48

Well maybe i like the game a little more then you guys, but:

I’d like to see the medics have some form of “danger” Plenty of times it will be me on the ground waiting for the re spawn timer, and a medic from 100 Meters away will start running towards me, completely gun ho on reviving me, so much then when he runs past 3 other team mates and gets wrecked by the 5 opponents standing over my body. maybe add a little “shoot and run” instead of just… Run.

The Scar AR, or the Single shot one (what ever its called) is pretty much useless of any, well use. I have a few solutions to try and make it equal to the other rifles

 • 20 bullets in a mag instead of 15
 • A little more damage

either one will help tremendously.

The SMG’s need to be givin either Less ammo, (a slight amount) or be more innacurate over longer ranges.
The Galaxy can hold 90 bullets in a drum and its almost no recoil means that you can burst fire 10-15 bullets at a time from a far distance.

That would be awesome thanks…

As for the pistols. The Sea Hawk is pretty much the only one to use, the first one (the 12 bullets per mag one) is actually…just for teh lulz. because it serves no purpose over the tokmack, does less damage, less accurate and has less ammo.

 • Give the first pistol another mag (12 bullets)
 • Allow the Silencer to take off No or very little damage (assume that the 9MM is sub sonic thus makes no difference other then sound.)
 • Increase its Fire rate (base fire rate) Ever slightly.

That would really create a better “small arm” pistol over the as of right now, super useful sniper like sea hawk/eagle/parrot

Also In “private match” Can you add a “any” to rank? I have alot of freinds who like to play but i’m kinda tired about creating a new character all the time just to play a few fun games with 3 or 4 people. he’s level 13 and i’m level 14. is it REALLY that bad?

(Kurnuttaja) #49
 1. Framerate - Especially in Security Tower I get as low as 30 fps sometimes and I use Nvidia

 2. Ammo - ARs, MGs and pistols dont have enough ammo reserved, while SMGs have about 2x the amount as the ARs (or more).

 3. Network issues - Too often the servers lag like hell and I cant connect from the server browser until trying dozens of times timing out.

(fredkruge) #50
- too much spread/cone of fire

 • headshots don’t do enough damage
 • need more crosshairs
 • need etpro hitsounds

that’s 4!
Agreed fully. But for cone of fire, the hipfire spray is fine but AIM DOWN SIGHT NEEDS TO BE MORE ACCRUATE. Hipfire shooting == aim down sight shooting accuracy…

I love the game, but it does have its issues.

First is all the obvious technical stuff. I assume this is already the top priority for them for how damaging it is for the games rep. I’m on pc so the lag of the 360 isnt an issue for me. But i regret seeing how many people are being put off on this game over it being unplayable for them. That hurts sd, and i really worry about the negative effect thatll have on the health of the community in the long run. I’d straight up rather keep playing this than tf2. I don’t wanna be forced back by brink becoming a ghost town.

Second is the catch all f key. I’ll just say that the only time brink has pissed me off is when i do crap like trying to refill the ammo of a guy directly in front of me, only to turn halfway around and use my last supply pip on some medic who was one bullet shy of full on his ammo meter. I really dont think this needs a drastic overhaul. Just take off the auto sprint and auto align, make it entirely manual, that’d be fine. The auto sprint is kind of an exploit for fatties anyway.

Lastly, i definately wanna see more maps, not just to have more of them, but because i actually think theyre the biggest wrench in the game right now, so far as game balance is concerned. I regret that whenever it turns into the defending team squatting on an objective, there arent alternative objectives the assaulting team can work on to try and pull their focus elsewhere for fear of losing their advantage, etc. I was honestly expecting maps that were less linear trails of primary objectives and more complex tactical choices to make that gives all the classes more stuff they need to consider doing to help their team.

For the record, i’m not saying the maps are bad, or not fun. Just that i want more, and hope they increase in scope. I really believe that a lot of percieved balance issues like whether certain classes and weapons are useful are more tied to not being any good on a particular map than any inherent flaw in their own design.

And that’s my constructive crit. Hope it helps

I was playin ET 6 y. I was so excited before BRINK came out, than i bought it, now I ve played few clan-wars and main issues are: (btw: atm BRINK is not worth any monay if you want to play some comeptetive game)
1 - cone of fire and weapons: cone of fire is too random, and requires noskill. There is even wrong CoF when ironsight is on. Also weapons’ dmg is screwed (best option is light body+crab 9, beacuse it has better dmg than medium/heavy guns, andu r fast)
2 - no mod for competetive play (i mean - no skills, no rules atm)
3 - wrong designed maps (srsly, dunno who desinged it but i m pretty shure he was newbie)

(4 - a lot more)
Brink is rly fun to play on public, but it s totally failure to play some clan-wars. Ive experienced BFs, CoDs, Quake, ET, CS and atm Brink has worst system of shooting. There is too much “console-like things”. If there won’t be some “remake for PC”, BRINK will live only as long as sponsors will give monay for tournaments.

(vbl) #53
 1. Poor class differentiation with no trade-offs for being a specialist (medic/engineer)
 2. Objective game modes repetitive and poorly balanced
 3. Movement/aiming jerky, unrefined; lots of maps glitches and hangups

(De|f|c) #54

I’ll just list one as it is what irritates me the most:

Gun Damage.

The Gun damage in this game is so bizarre that half the time it feels it’s entirely random. You can drop someone miles away in a small burst, and other times somebody 2 feet in front of you will be able to take a full clip and still not go down. The whole game just feels like a spray and pray luck fest. I don’t know if it’s weapon buffs/kevlar/extra health pips etc. but it’s just completely destroying the game for me as any skill in fire-fights is totally removed.
I’ve been playing fps games competitively for 12 years and have never in that time been so irritated by the damage mechanic of guns in a game. Nor have I played any game where spray and pray is more apparent. For this reason alone, ignoring all the other major flaws of the game, Brink wont be a lasting contender for me against other shooters.

I agree. I know there is a bunch of things people can say to refute this but something in this game just isnt good (about the aim).

(Matuka) #56
 1. Locked commands that could drastically improve framerates. Such as the compulsory Depth of Field and Ambient effects.

 2. Crosshair, needs Quake 3 styled crosshairs. :frowning:

 3. Promode.

(mclarenpingu) #57

1: Performance issue, even use nVIDIA graohic, and the fastest computer, the gameplay still not smooth enough, feel laggy.

2: Map quality and numbers, some maps are very good, but some maps are bad, with no good graphic and optimization, feel laggy

3: Other bugs,

I think the most critical problem of Brink is the optimization, if the performance becomes normal, and add more maps, I think this is a very good multiplay FPS in 2011
:penguin:

(Hyrage) #58
 • The lack of importance of headshots in this game
 • Spawn killing
 • Buffing is not a good concept…

(Kurushi) #59

This is more of a wish list instead of issues:

 1. Performance. Optimisation welcome!

 2. GPU intensive cvars and demo recording commands unlocked - (some kind of benchmarker please)

 3. New maps for the future and maybe some remixed versions of stock maps

You have to be kidding. You want a lone wolf shooter?
