/kill usage :

(chr0nicles) #1

This isn’t ment to start a new thread about the /kill issues
but i would like to see a new option in etpro, a delay to the kill option

example someone issues a /kill and after the delay 5sec (which admins can set) the player gets killed. this effectively beats the “You don’t get my XP when i’m dying in pubs”

So what do you think?

(squadjot) #2

i thought about it…and the more i think about it…i might think it would be fair…on PUBLIC…not in wars…

(Kendle) #3

I think if you want it in ETPro you ought to ask Bani on his forums ( http://bani.anime.net/banimod/forums/ ), however I’d suggest it would be an option for his BayonET public server mod, not ETPro, which is a competition mod. The only time it matters, or people care, about losing XP is on publics. It’s irrelevant in Clan matches and all Clan players rely on instant /kill.

(Hyde) #4

…unless you are invincible in ET, as I am soon to be!
MWahahahahaha!

MWAHAHAH!!!

ahem

(pgh) #5

Idd. Maybe just have a cvar to toggle it between different settings, means publics can say, have a 5 sec delay and comp configs eg, cb etc can have 0?

(Hyde) #6

Clearly I have overstepped some sort of invisible line with public forum etiquette.

(Hyde) #13

lol

I’m a lover, not a fighter ;]

/me blows pgh a big kiss :]

(piece) #14

I had a lame idea about not allowing /kill while in battle (taking/giving damage as Battle Sense keeps track of) but this idea is far better.

(I suppose if you were a really horrible fighter you could /kill before you run into battle, heheh.)

(Cerebrate) #15

Somewhat reminiscent of the Town Portal Scroll in WarCraft III

(SCDS_reyalP) #16

Bah, why don’t you just give the XP to whoever damaged them most recently within the 5 seconds preceding their /kill ? That way everyone can still /kill as much as the like, but if they do it in a firefight, they will give the enemy XP.

(The_Jesus_Zeppelin) #17

Who cares if people /kill anymore. look at it this way. There out of your way for maybe 30 more seconds at leats 10 wich is enought to do alot of damage. and who cares if it deprives you of your oh so precious xp. if thats all you play for you should never ever leave the pubs.
and when people say oh but it can keep you from getting promoted and getting new stuff. so what! the only things you need to play E.T. with are givin to you from the start. im sure all the little XP whores can do with out engineering level 2.

/me blows pgh a big kiss :]

(CYNIC) #18

Now thats not polite :frowning: But indeed, the /kill can refuse you your xp for the kill (3?) and light or heavyweapons skill.

(blushing_bride) #20

i hate /kill, not because of XP but because it takes away the satifaction of the kill. I don’t play games to win or for clan, i play for fun. Games are meant to be fun, people play shoot em ups because they want to kill people. People who use /kill to avoid dying are ruining other peoples fun. It’s as simple as that. The five second delay sounds like one of the best ideas ever, i hope this gets implemented somewhere.
