Kill / Death Stats
I am sorry, but getting a high K/D ratio doesn’t mean you don’t help the team.
Nobody is saying that. Having a constant K/D ratio regardless of what team you’re fighting on however, does imply that you’re not a team-player. You’re not making use of the facilities offered whenever a team players well and you’re not making up for the lack of facilities whenever a team plays bad.

A great team player might hold a huge K/D ratio if the team grants him the opportunities.

The only thing that determines whether someone is a team player or not is intent. Good or bad players can be team players, because their motivation behind their actions in game is to win the game. When a player knows that the best way to win the match is to be a constant threat to the opposition, it is an action based on team - not ego.

If that same player plays on a bad team, and his k/d remains the same. His actions in game are still predicated on what he believes is best for the team.

(tokamak) #83

You can have all the intent in the world and still be a crappy team-player. Team-play is a skill just like any other. I can intent to be a great aimer, does not make me a great aimer.

(Humate) #84

Thats where you’re confused champ.
No skill is required to press a class action button.
The only thing that is required is intent and anyone can do that.

Not everyone can have great aim, and those that do - know the best way their team can win is if they focus on eliminating the opposition.

(tokamak) #85

Intend does sod all to the results. It’s absolutely meaningless.

And just put the mission stuff aside, a team that works together will have a much easier time at killing the opposition than a team of soloists. That makes the team-playing player’s K/D dependant on cohesion within their team.

I agree. When I’m stuck with a group that scatters like roaches as soon as they hit the map I get slaughter. But if we stick together we tend to be able to cover our flanks and kill the crap out of everyone. Also usually through trial and error a good group that communicates can compensate for any gaps in resource and hammer out a way to help each other. After that they usually will dominate most they come in contact with regardless of the K/D.

(Humate) #87

Its as meaningless as stating that players who have great k/ds in good and bad teams, care about stats.

A team of soloists is still a collective effort mate.
And killing and staying alive, is still a team-action - its called establishing area dominance.

You don’t enjoy playing with other people though. You like to “play with yourself” obviously. It just happens that you found other like minded people to do it at the same time in the same room as you.

(Humate) #89

Evidently whatever infraction you’ve received, hasn’t quelled the insignificant garbage you post on this forum.

(Jess Alon) #90

That’s really none of your business now is it?

(tokamak) #91

Okay I admit, I’ve been trolled. I should’ve stopped humouring this guy much earlier. You know how it feels, when you put so much effort into conducting a discussion with someone who clearly has no such intentions that you forgot you’re dealing with an energy-leech.

(Jess Alon) #92

Well I don’t want to get anymore infractions and this guy is trying to tempt me.

(tokamak) #93

Yeah it’s flamebait. Let him be.
Hi everyone,

sorry if that was asked before, but i d like to know if a kill/death ratio will be displayed or not.

in my opinion it s superfluous in an objective based game and i d prefer that it wont be displayed, so that people focus on teamplay and the current objective only… :)
No, just XP and your last action, if you were involved in a Objective’s action. The person with the most XP will be at the top of the stats board at the end of the mission etc.

Y E S !

That seriously made my day.

I remember hearing in some interview somewhere that a certain developer was FOR including K/D ratios, but another developer was against it. They still hadn’t confirmed whether they were to be included or not, but it nearly made my heart sink to think they were actually considering including it.

I’m just seriously sick of games like CoD where all anyone cares about is their K/D ratio, and it’s just a mindless game of cat and mouse, and where there are campers who sit around all day because they’re cowards and are afraid to die.

Looking forward to Brink more than ever. I am so sick of every other FPS out there.

/needs my W:ET and ET:QW fix.

(brbrbr) #96

matches won/per day/hour matter.
as well as objectives per day/hour.

(gunzo) #97

Headshot accuracy would actually be useful since headhots will be critical in conserving ammo from what ive understood.

(madoule) #98

since its no OHK, it actually doesn’t matter.

(gunzo) #99

Actually it does, since you’ll be wasting less bullets taking an enemy down.
Why do you keep following me around saying stupid things?

(madoule) #100

no YOU follow ME! stop that!

On Topic: then it would be as well be worthwhile to mention shots in the foot! those are truly wasted bullets for they only do 2% damage with 12d
