If you want your sig to avoid my roving gaze, here are some tips:

1. Keep it below 100 pixels high, and preferably less than 400 wide (100 pixels wide for an avatar)
2. If it’s animated, make it subtle
3. Keep the combined size of your avatar and signature below 50k
4. Don’t use one of those php links which rotate random images on each refresh.
5. If all else fails, make it look awesome. I have - quite unfairly - left certain signatures alone because they were neat and tidy and looked good

although I wonder why people feel the need for 200 - 800K sigs

I’ve seen sigs on “clan sites” that are 800 x 350 and 2 meg animations
seems very silly to me
