Keeping your sigs under the radar

We don’t have any specific forum rules about this, but I thought I’d mention that I occasionally poke my way through the forums, pruning sigs and avatars which stand out - usually just because they’re too big, or too flashy and distracting.

If you want your sig to avoid my roving gaze, here are some tips:

  1. Keep it below 100 pixels high, and preferably less than 400 wide (100 pixels wide for an avatar)
  2. If it’s animated, make it subtle
  3. Keep the combined size of your avatar and signature below 50k
  4. Don’t use one of those php links which rotate random images on each refresh.
  5. If all else fails, make it look awesome. I have - quite unfairly - left certain signatures alone because they were neat and tidy and looked good :slight_smile:

Sig dimensions: 440x100px - slight violation of the 1st rule.
Animated: no - 2nd rule compliant.
Sig size: 21.8kB + avatar size: 1.86kB = 23.66kB < 50kB - 3rd rule compliant.
Image rotation on each refresh: yes - violation of the 4th rule.
Looks good yes - 5th rule compliant.

When I uploaded the new one from my machine I got a message saying it had to be jpeg, gif or png. So I uploaded it to my webby, then uploaded it to the forum, and now it works. :suspicious:

i know my avatar is a tiny bit to big in height but its neat and tidy and funny, lemme know ifi have to delete and i will :slight_smile: gona miss that :banana: tho!

I can sympathise Errol - I’m in a similar situation with these forums. I’ve got work to do and certain people kept replacing their avatar with stupid bollocks :slight_smile:

Pro tip: being high maintenance is not a good way to enamour yourself to the admins :bash:

View the forum in firefox, if possible.

In F.F. it is a HUGE ETQW screenie
