would work on either depending on graphics adapter, but 80 gig is a pretty small HD these days, and 533 mhz FSB sounds a little strange, but both those are state of the garage these days

Don’t waste money on a 6800xt…

Get like 7600 GS
It has 12 Pixel Pipelines versus 8 some newer technology too. 6800 was ok, a year or two ago, now 7600GS has the table for best price for buck ( theyres an AGP version too)
for refrence:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?N=1069609639&Submit=ENE&Description=7600gs&Ntk=all

I’d highly suggest going for the 800MHZ memory ones. But the lesser ones will work great also.

For those looking for an uprgade to thier AGP based graphics cards… The Geforce 7600gs, and the ATI x1600 are both great choices. Both have reasonably good reviews on many different interweb sites (tomshardware.com ,anandtech.com, extremetech.com) and have proven to be the best performance for your dollar. Those looking to push the limits of thier AGP graphics should look more toward the Geforce 7800gs. It is a little bit pricier, but will not fail to please with the power to turn up everything (if your CPU and System RAM permit), and roll the FPS up on any game you play (or are planning to).

well again i must ask (the sys-spec poster) what it is you are wanting to know about your set-up… It seems that you have a great mobo, ram, and cpu, but the 6600gt in that config is SERIOUSLY lacking… try upgrading to any of the fine SLi compatible graphics cards out there instead of trying to save money (and underpowering your graphics abilities)… again if you didnt read any of the posts you would’nt know that this isnt a (post your specs here ) topic… its actually for people truly wanting to know what hardware to buy to make sure that thier computer can run an exciting new game…(do you know which one?) at the highest possible visual setting to enjoy the eye-popping-mouth-watering-candy being developed by our lords of addictive gaming “Splash Damage”…

Am I missing something here, or did you just quote the wrong person?

the 6800GT is still a great spec card. Im about to build a machine around a pci-e 7900GTX and im wondering do i even really need to as the 6800GT has played everything ive thrown at it so far. Wish there was a demo then i’d have an idea!

I know from bitter experience that the early batches of the 7900gt cards arent the most stable cards in the world im just wondering if the 7900gtx have the same problems (i havent heard much about them).

As my 7900gt is RM at prestent im using a 7600gt which i think is a fantastic little card for the money and would highly recommend anyone who wants a lowish bugget sli rig take a good look at them.

I use this site and find it quite usefull when im not sure if my rig can run a game http://www.srtest.com/referrer/srtest altho at the moment you wont find ET:QW listed :frowning:

my mistake!

but still… you have the PCIx ability to run SLi. Aside from the cost there no reason not to heed the call of your second graphics card slots’ need to be complete… help your computer fufill its destiny. Plus the 6 series Nvidia cards were designed for AGP, as the 7series Nvidia cards were designed for PCIx.

Personally I thought your system would be just fine the way it was originally displayed in your original post, but as this is a DIY upgrade post (not a "show off your stuff"one). I thought that you may want people to give you thier own opinion as to what improvements could be made.
