I’ve played the demo and that had maybe 6 servers - understandable since it’s only a demo.
But I’m considering buying the real deal and I’d like to know if a sizeable amount of people still play, or if it’s been abandoned.

Yeah you’ll still find people to play it with. Something tells me this game will outlive Brink. Not to be harsh on Brink but ETQW just has that cult status.
You’ll find around 5-10 full servers every day, at least if you’re in Europe. I’m pretty sure it will be players for the rest of this year at least, but after that - only time, will tell.
Here’s a list of online players btw (without bots):

If you like the demo and the valley map, you should really give the other 11 maps a try as well - they’re all pretty good
+1
I still have it installed on my desktop and my roommate and myself still play it, well, we did, and will again once I get the virus/hard drive issues I’m having fixed.

Re add me someday we’ll have some rounds, I dont know if my roomate bought a new RJ45 wire but if he did I can play again Yay!
(If not I’ll buy one today anyway, wifi on a 10" is quite boring!)
Peace

Will do. I think we have the PC issue sorted out, just a matter of getting everything set back up.
My name is obviously Aristotle heh. My roommate highjacks my PC while I am at work and plays from his copy of the game. You can add him if you want too, it’s FunnyMan.
Seriously recommend buying it, best game i’ve played so far. Add me in game if you want (Nick: Dthwsh.)
Oh, I’ve been meaning to tell you the last couple days, when my PC crashed I lost everything on it, which really sucks because I had been going through the demos when I could and had at least two thirds of them watched and cut, took forever.
Sorry I kept you hanging for as along as I did

Scheisse, I came home from a very long weekend and stuff, bought a web cable, just to find my already damaged mouse non functional… roomate saw it wasnt working that properly, decided to repair it, and broke it even worse… WHY OH WHY PEOPLE!
I’ll do the ductape ninja again tonight and hopefully it’ll work again.
Peace
Just go oldskool pre-Quake era: keyboard only.
To OP: enough games to be found here (Europe), you’ll get your money’s worth.

Considering it’s only 5 bucks now, definitely worth the money.
still many ppl played ETQW.
but ranked server slightly degraded, countered by unranked rise[infested with bots, usually].
played it more than 3k hours.
Why don’t you just leave? Seriously, I’m sick of people crying about games being dead. It’s annoying as ****.
The North American ETQW community is still active as well. As the server admin for TAW’s NA side and as a longtime TAW member, I’d recommend that you check out the TAW NA Ranked, though Crypt and Cherry Blossom are both very popular as well.
If you’re interested in getting some hardcore action, you should talk to me or another TAW member about joining TAW. We’re less of a clan and more of a community. Every few months we hold a draft and break down into teams, then have a season of organized matches with assigned roles, carefully-crafted strategies, communication . . . all of the things you miss out on in public play.
My in-game name is “geppy”.
