I'm on Vista - Downgrade to XP or Upgrade to Windows 7 for ETQW?

(Donnovan) #1

I have a Windows Vista license. This make me owner of previously versions of Windows including Windows XP? I mean, i can install Windows XP using my Windows Vista license?

If not, i will buy a Windows XP or a Windows 7 copy.

I’m really in charm with the idea to back to Windows XP since other computers on my lan have Windows XP and ETQW is for Windows XP.

There is any game that need Windows Vista or 7 to run (don’t run on Windows XP)?

Thanks for the help.

no, both ways are WRONG, IMO.
with SP2, IMO, Vista was FAR better than both 7 and XP.
just sure to remove pre-SP1 portions after SP1 installation and before SP2 rolling in[or install SP1 WITHOUT backup. but thats bad idea even with FULL backup].

p.s.
maybe upcoming SP1 for Win7 will fix major security/privacy/reliability issues in Win7, but im lost [majority of]faith.

Its Christmas not April Fools day  I’d recommend Win7 over either any day IMHO.

I wouldn’t go for XP anymore, it imho started to become obsolete too much lately. I would certainly go for Win7 if I had to buy smth. Buy the cheapest version - extras are unnecessary crap, e.g. i always have aero, media center crap and security **** turned off.

thats why you joke “Its Christmas not April Fools day”, was FAR funnier, than it intended[i guess].
note: naving opinons, different, than others, have not a crime, itself, until its projected with portions of personal offense[with weak pretensions on criticizm].

i never had vista so i cannot compare, but now i have windows 7 and all is running OK.

(brbrbr) #7

its behave basically similar to vista with SP1 and few serious tweaks.
logically for new box buying logically more practical buy Win 7 from both points of view, but for Vista user, there is no [really serious]reasons to migrate to Win7, IMO.

p.s.
incremental updates fro Vista made me boring.
its unhealthy even for home usage, but can you imagine, how hard is to deploy/re-deploy/update machines in 300-2k-sized, networks, for example.
i wish Microsoft return to cumulative service packs at least fro Windows 8 or better for Windows 7[or even Vista too].

(xTriXxy) #8

what i didnt like on XP was search option. W7 have same stupid search for files as Xp…

(brbrbr) #9

you can bring Vista “old” search engine by installing it component[undeployed by default in Win7 in favor of similar feature].
and/or install newer version of it[pretend to be something betwee] from Microsoft website.

huh how? so its possible to downgrade parts of W7, but main system will stay W7 ?

(Dthy) #11

I’ve tried and tested all 3, and i much have a lucky version of vista, since im getting no difference performance on it vista. W7 looks nicer and i found it the easiest to navigate. Haven’t used XP in yearsss so i can’t remember. Currently on vista as the W7 i was using was a trial version

Hence the IMHO  It was meant as a joke so don’t take offense :). I run Vista on my music laptop and have had 0 problems with it, but its literally only running Reason, Audacity, WavePad and Firefox. From customer experience though (I work for a software house), Vista has historically caused more problems than XP or Win7, so my vote would be Win7 > XP > Vista.

who said “downgrade parts” ?
i said “deploy features, not installed by default”.
GUI management for its, is part of “programms installation” applet in you windows constrol panel. just hit another one[than “remove installed application”, sub-section, choosen by default, when you launch it]part of it.
and btw, “read instruction first”, before you use you OS, unless you Windows was shipped with you PC, ie crappy OEM copy without hardcopy manuals, without rights to use technical support, without rights to reinstall on different hardware and etc and etc.

remember as long as you have a COA, the files can come from anywhere, you only pay for the license to use the software, not the software itself

How about banning basiley for life from this forum?

(DonkeyDong) #18

Get the program ‘Agent Ransack’. Free, highly effective and intuitive (usable).

(Ashog) #19

Donkey, whazzup, u dont play ETQW anymore? Haven’t seen u on Nirvana sundays for years already…

(brbrbr) #20
