I thought they’d already confirmed that /kill was remaining…
I played Brink at quakecon, some concerns

Include a spawn timer in the hud. From what I could tell at qcon, the only way to tell when the spawn time is was to show the scoreboard. It needs to be on the hud all the time. Players shouldn’t have to check the scoreboard just to see when his teammate are spawning. Like in previous SD games, players want/need to know when it is smart to push out, when to /kill, when to hide, etc.

I didn’t personally experience the “pull2objective” thing Feanor is talking about, but it sounds amazingly lame. Completing objectives/capturing points works great in W:ET and ETQW… no need to further noobify IMO.
From what I understood, they went with the noobstix at their booth because they didn’t want to hassle with everyone wanting to customize their key binds. If everyone wanting to test the game had to spend the time to change all the keys to their liking, it would have taken ages. Valid concern IMO but needless to say, I was extremely disappointed when I found out there were no keyboards & mice. Trying out the movement/strafe jumping with a keyboard and mouse was huge for me! FailCon2010
I was also told it was the PC version with Xbox controllers. Just because it had prompts for xbox keys, doesn’t make it the xbox version… did you not play Wolfenstein 2009? There were prompts for xbox keys all over the retail(i mean leaked beta) PC version of that INCREDIBLY HORRIBLE GAME. Remember? lmao
yes, here:
This is actually something that has been under discussion here fairly recently. It’s a tricky one… ‘/kill’ is not intuitive or necessary for newer players, yet for advanced players it can be of high tactical value. So, we’re compromising at the moment, and allowing it in our more advanced and competitive game modes, but not the basic campaign. What do you guys and gals think?

How was dat hip fire? I am curious if it really is as good as they say…
This statement is totally incorrect.
And it has been said that the game won’t be part of the Game for Windows since it won’t be able to meet all the requirements (which are a lot more than just running on Windows).
Videos that were released just a month before QuakeCon showed Games for Windows at the end. BRINK’s website shows Games for Windows too at the bottom. Please explain to me why my Wolfenstein box shows Games for Windows yet it has nothing to do with Games for Windows Live and how that’s any different from BRINK? It’s already been announced it’s using Steamworks (yay :)), yet that image isn’t removed so it’s just a badge like the 360 and PS3 badges to me.
I also haven’t seen anything that said it won’t meet GfW requirements because if you look at the technical requirements it’d be quite sad if you didn’t meet that (one of the requirements is having widescreen resolutions and aspect ratios so if you don’t have that your game officially sucks already because I can’t imagine what else you didn’t do). I sadly don’t buy many things retail anymore (I love Steam) so I only have Wolfenstien’s box to go off of and Games for Windows catalog but I see games on there that use Ubisoft DRM/sold digitally/don’t use GFWL DRM and they’re certified. Why wouldn’t Splash Damage at least get it certified to say they did it? It gets a nice logo on your box that attracts people who probably only buy certified games.
Games for Windows: game runs and behaves as a proper Windows program
Games for Windows LIVE: game uses the LIVE network for achievements, login, gamertag, etc.
They’re two entirely different things.

Yeah that’s what I’m saying but he acts like it’s some intensive test a game has to pass to be able to be a Games for Windows game instead of just being a normal Windows program, lol. You just stated it better than I did, so thank you for that.
TBH, i didn’t even bother to play the game. The lack of a keyboard and mouse made it basically useless for me even try to give it a fair shot. Though I did watch a fair amount of other people playing. The hip firing seemed pretty good from what I could tell. Definatly not bad!
I actually watched sponge play for quite a while. He could actually aim with the noobstick so watching him was better than actually playing without a mouse for me. He confirmed what I was watching and said that the hit reg and the shooting felt pretty good considering. It looked good from everything I could tell.
One thing to note, the maps seemed fairly tight so it seemed like most of the shooting/firefights were pretty close up. I would like to see how the spread, hit reg, etc act with a little more distance between opponents…
I already preorded and I am really looking forward to Brink, but nothing really matters to me that I have seen so far until I can play it over the internet with 40-60 ping and not get SUPER annoyed when shots don’t reg. Playing ETQW online vs on LAN are like night and day. Anything above 20 ping in ETQW and hit reg becomes crap. If Brink has good hit reg, i am in <3.
People simple minded like yourself is one of the reason computer games have been pretty terrible for the past few years. Because you try to find a way to defend the company. Sorry, Im a consumer not a cock rider. If I’m paying my hard earned cash for something I do for fun “gaming” then I expect it to be close to what I want. A pc game. If I wanted to play anything close to a console game, then I would sell my pc and buy a console. I would expect this opinion to be the same for any true gamer for their respected machine (pc, xbox, playstation). Im not going to defend a company in anyway, why should I… are you retarded? If I was paid to do work on someones house, my job is to do it to the best of my ability. I wouldnt expect anybody defending me for my mistakes. You fail and should never make another post, because most of your logic sounds like **** and you are working for the company.

I’m not sure who this is directed towards too, but that is a leaked alpha build, not beta… brink is out of that phase. It was also showed at qcon, it was not leaked, therefore it shouldn’t have those if it was a pc version this late into development. Like I stated before world at war and bad company 2 were both not suppose to be console ports at all. Yet, they both were and both have the coding in their game. Yet both companies swear up and down neither are console ports. If anyone knew anything about coding anmarketing you wouldnt be so blind and dumb. All I see are people uneducated on both subjects trying to argue about something they know nothing about. We will just have to wait and see when the game is released.
You havent paid for the game, they owe you nothing. And even if you already preordered, you they didn’t give any false information, you paid for what they said they are delivering.
They are not intersted in developing a game that pleases you, they are interested in making a game they can make money off, and that means making some things more accessible to other players. If you don’t like it, don’t buy it, just like you wouldn’t buy CoD7.
Well thats stupid logic, if they are interested in making money then make a game that I like and I will buy it. Make a game I don’t like and I wont buy it. If Brink turns out to be a console port then I wont buy it, simple i’ll just stick to W:ET and ETQW.
Are you seriously going to take the words of a PR machine to heart as the truth? They aint going to come out and go yeah your right Brink is a console port we don’t care about PC users because aslong as they say it isn’t a port some people will still buy it out of hope. So forgive me if im being abit cyncial.

I don’t see why SD would port the PC version from console, when they are all PC developers in the first place and actually had to hiring people to help with the console versions. Plus, the PC version was the first version they showed, back in 2009, so it’s not like they don’t have time to make it stable or finish it. Just seems odd that the platform they know best, would be ported - why “half ass” the thing you know best?
Thats the point, they dont care that YOU buy it, they care that MORE people buy it. Hence, they’ll make it more accessible to the average player.
I’d argue that they do care that he buys it.
Not him in particular, but the niche that he represents.
Otherwise I’m sure they would state so, so guys like Jamieson wouldn’t be wasting their time and money right?

xbox icons in wolf leak

As has been stated up and down this thread, the PC version shown at quake con was displayed with a console controller so of course it has xbox icons. Stop calling everyone who you disagree with idiots, retarded, blind or dumb and try reading.
More clarification: we can, on the fly, change the icons/keys that show up in the User Interface. It was set to 360 icons for the PC build we showed at QuakeCon.
