i hate stupid covert ops

Then yes, at 10 yardds it might still be somewhat accurate, i thought you meant ranges like smg-range(in the game). 100 and more metres.
I find the rifle pretty good too, Sometimes its pretty possible to kill a medic 1vs1 with it if you get close.

(RocketGrrl [SWE]) #42

No the weapon spread in itself should be minimal. But a shot with a rifle while you are walking, running jumping etc would probably be fired from the hip. So if this weapon should even remotely reflect its real life characteristics it should be real hard to hit with it while dodging around in a 1v1 firefight. As I said before, in RTCW rifles were useless in 1v1 but in ET they are really good. Not that I see this as a big issue but the unscoped accuracy especially while on the move could be toned down a bit.

(Wraith2k3) #43

What I mean is, if your prone, on a rock, completly still, looking through the scope, than that rifle is near 100% accurate. Now exit scoped view. All thats changed is that you are no longer looking through the scope, but magically that near 100% accuracy goes out the window. A scope is there to ASSIST in aiming at longer ranges, there is no reason why it should affect the “natural” spread of the weapon. SCDS_reyalP wrote a good post about the inaccuraies of the unscoped rifles, but I dont have time to find it now.

But… an expert one just kicks ass

Scene:

Depot, 6 axis having bag orgy just behind hill, at there spawn between there command post and the guntower that they build.

Ally CO runs up to bag orgy, looks around grabs health and ammo drops satchel in on top of pile of ammo, backs off and detonates - three die straight away picks the rest of with level 2 soldier cooled sten.

C’mon

If you have a chance to grab a uni safely, you should do it. Even if it is inside the fuel dump. You then can jump at the next opportunity to infiltrate (which you should always be looking for unless you are sniping.) I’ll grab a uni whenever I get a safe chance, that way I can immediately get to infiltrating, spotting mines, ect.

I must agree that more CO’s should use their smoke cans more frequently. To truly be an elite CO, you MUST use the smoke. Ever since I found out how valuable that little can of wonders is, I have gotten to where I love nothing more than playing as CO. Granted, I DO understand that a CO’s main task is to go BEHIND enemy lines and wreak as much havoc as humanly possible.

I’m that guy who puts down satchels in the allied spawn on Goldrush, you know, the guy staring at you from afar while you ask yourself…“what is that thing with an antenna in his hand?” Then you realize that there is gas expanding around you at an exponential rate taking you straight into limbo. Then you hear…“Wunderbar!!!” and you realize that the dude with the antenna was NOT on your team.

Oh yeah, just a little trick for all you CO wannabes…

If you can’t get another CO uni, go for the FO and run around with the smoke can in your hand, it looks almost exactly like an airstrike cannister. You’d be surprised how well it works.

Oh, so you are the definition of llama. Slaying noobs like that making them think this game is boring. And then praising yourself for those 1337 skillz you showed off. My God…

Gotta agree with that. If “Eyes of Texas” did that on either of the servers in my sig he’d be kicked and banned.

(X4er0) #49

i always use the smoke can, throw it at an entrance and a soldier (my mate) with a crew served gun kills all that walks through the smoke on battery when the allies have the bunker, 4 level CO can keep on smoking the door. Best uni is still the cov ops so you can walk around normal

(funkPig) #50

I agree, smoke is one of the most important things a co should do. He should also be finding the mines for us.

I always use smoke when I am a CO in the correct places. For example, smoke the top of the ramp after it has been built, smoke the breech in the wall on fuel dump right after the tank makes it (while your at it find the mines it’s not that hard).

Which brings me back to the topic: stupid covert ops. I know that sniping from the big hill on fuel dump is fun but cant you take a few seconds out and spot the mines in the entrance?

These snipers aren’t even being sneaky anymore. We all know they are there. I have been having fun lately with the mg42 and “sniping” those stupid co right off that hill!

First off, I never said that I was ‘1337.’ I can get owned just like anyone else can. Secondly, I don’t do that satchel on Goldrush but 2 or 3 times just to make the other team a little bit excited, that’s all. Of course, Kendall, you probably spawn camp just as much as anyone else. Don’t deny it.

(Superfreak) #52

Yes, the excessive number of coverts frequently found on pubs annoys me. On the rare occasion I play covert, I do tend to steal every uni I can find for XP (level 3 +sten w00t) BUT, if I’m not planning a trip to their spawn, I immediately pop a few rounds to lose the uni. Reduces teammates shooting at me, and I’m still that much closer to the low-spread sten.

And I have no idea how many clueless coverts I’ve gunned down while they were running into the bank in enemy pants. My favorite is when they have a good uniform (covert), and come bouncing into the bank with a satchel. Natural selection at work.

Oh, and who doesn’t love the Med school student - you see a friendly medic carrying a bookbag, and he gets upset when you kill him (How’d you know)…

Nice thread to vent a bit - thanks

Oh… so you are only a part-time llama… that makes it better. :???:

I also won’t play on servers that permit spawncamping, TKing, sapping, and other knucklehead behavior. I like to have fun when I play the game.

(Kendle) #54

You base that on what evidence exactly? Besides, we’re not talking spawn-camping, we’re talking spawn-killing. There’s a difference.

You place your satchell charge outside the Allied spawn on GoldRush and I’d think you were lame, but the spawn has 2 exits so the Allied team could chose the other one and I’d let it go.

You place your satchell charge inside the spawn and I’d give you a warning. Do it again and I’d kick you. And I’m a nice guy. If the Head Admin were on there he’d kick / ban you the first time you did it.
