ok see this is how it goes.a long time ago i installed wolfenstein enemy territory but took it off to make room for other stuff…but that stuff didnt work. so i reinstalled wolfET back a few months later(aka today) i havent messed with ANYTHING on my computer it worked fine lag free when i first played but after i reinstalled it freezes,as soon as i click to skip the video
a:the sound cuts off
b:the computer freezes, but for some reason not the lightning background thing
c:i cant move the mouse
d:i cant alt f4 or ctrl alt delete out of it
so i have to turn off my comp manually if it does that.
Ive tried EVERYTHING! and it dosent work! ive tried reinstalling my gfx driver, that didnt work either
i have the system requirements, why does it do this to me?
I dont get it! Please! Help!
Be patient. When you first install and fire up, you need to create a profile, and the game registers your GUID(gamer user identification) with the network. If you have a firewall(zone_alarm) preconfigure it too. So after the intro, be patient, the profile screen should come up eventually. Then, for some reason your mouse will only move every 10-20 seconds, it may look like its frozen so grab a coffee and give it time. I think it took me 15 minutes to create a profile the fist time…you could try downloading from a different place if that doesn’t work… ?? …good luck.
no,you dont get it. i waited for 30 minutes constantly moving the mouse but the cursor didnt move at all and what do u mean by the firewall thing? i have windows firewall do u mean to allow anything running by the .exe file?
PS ive tried different download locatins they do they same
Sounds like it triggered off somethng in the background that stops you selecting either of them… that happened to me 1st time when my firewall popped up asking if iw anted to allow it or not.
Yes, it is probably your firewall. This has happened to me in the past when I forgot to allow new programs before running them. Most likely your firewall is popping up a message asking if you want to allow WolfET, but you cant see it.
Simply go into your firewall and allow WolfET. Look up your specific firewall to see how to do this.
i tried that and it dont work :banghead: i think im gonna shoot myself :eek2:
sorry for double posting,id just like to say…thanks for all the help i almost got it working but i never will now because all of you just suddenly stopped helping me…
=(
Could you list what you have installed on your pc?
If its full of junk, like games, more than one spyware/antivirus software and any thing else wasting space, and you have nothing on your hard drives that would upset you if it was lost, then do a format, wipe the whole drive.
You probably have to much junk, thinking it will do good, when its more or less messing up some programs.
Here is something else you can try, which might give you an idea of what is happening.
Try starting WolfET again and note the exact time when it hangs. Then :
Start->Run->
then type in
compmgmt.msc
This will open the computer management console. On the left click on Event Viewer and then click on Application. Check to see if there is an entry that matches the time when WolfET hangs. Also try the ‘System’ entry under Event Viewer. Double click on any entry for more information.
If you find that an entry is created in either of these spots when WolfET hangs, copy and paste the error message in this thread and maybe someone can give you some answers.
Yes he can.
The events listed do NOT disappear when you reboot.
He runs WolfET, gets locked up and reboots, and then checks the event log.
Its the first thing I do for any problem I have, and 90% of the time it helps me find out what is wrong.
To verify that it’s actually locking up your machine and not just getting confused about which application has the mouse/keyboard, try adding +set r_fullscreen 0 to your shortcut so it runs the game in a window. That way, if something pops up underneath and steals focus, you’ll see it happening. If everything freezes again, you’ll know it’s something more serious.
Or use the et minimizer
… also handy for when you are playing and need to pop inot IRC or Teamspeak etc …
Well, et minimizer might not work here, since his machine probably chokes. Minimizing it may not solve this.
et minimizer dosent work
fragmentizing dosent work
windowed it,nothing pops up
now what?
how do i start it in safe mode it never gives me the option
ps.im scanning with norton, ive detected 9 trojans in 2 mins 0_o oh crap this will be bad…
Lol, surprise surprise!
Sorry, I know you are probably bumming.
To get into safe mode, you reboot your computer and hit F8 before Windows loads. On fast comps you might not even see the message to hit F8, so just keep hitting it really fast as your computer boots (before Windows loads).
You will see a list of options, one being Safe Mode.
Depending upon the Trojans you have, most of them require safe mode deleting of files, and registry editing. Nortons site walks you through what to do, but if you are not exactly sure what you are doing it can be a royal pain… you might be better off reformating and reinstalling everything.
If you write any CD’s/DVD’s with things you dont want to lose like documents and images before you reformat/reinstall, make sure you scan those burned discs to make sure the Trojans didnt place anything on them - so you dont end up in the same mess again.
