How will Splash damage release PC dedicated server files?

(ButchCassidy) #81

I missed that but well done Badman…Now let’s hope they back him up and release some info very very shortly…

(Feelgood) #82

Hmmm maybe they will do a Duke Nukem and push it back another month and a half?

(ButchCassidy) #83

Lol…SD have been pretty good at releasing info about the game all in all.

Its just this final hurdle on telling us all how we will be able to set up and run our own dedi servers and where we will get the files from…

I would imagine that the actual work has been done by now with only 12 UK working days to go until release in the USA.

So fingers crossed they’ll make us all happy with some good news soon…

(hellreturn) #84

I hope they release server files so we can host our own server. Most of this PC gaming community revolves around there clan servers. Clan host server and there members start buying game.

No wonder all OLD games are still popular then BC2, Black Ops, etc.

(Cankor) #85

They are getting ready for a huge announcement: Brink movie making tied to server demos and stats in XML format sent via web feed. You heard it here from Mr Optimist first.

I’m actually somewhat serious.

(ButchCassidy) #86

mmm let’s hope your right?

I hope they release all the info next week.

(SuperWaz) #87

Fingers crossed. I hope Badman saying what he said wasn’t just a ploy to stop me answering questions he didn’t want to answer.

And I sincerly hope Brink doesn’t turn out to be a Wolf in sheep’s clothing. And by Wolf I of course mean Wolfenstein.

(ButchCassidy) #88

This is a nasty little bump…Because SD are now back at work (for 3 days) and i’m hoping that Badman will take some time during this window to release the server info…Please…

(Diablo85) #89

Only two weeks left. About time for it :).

(ed lolington) #90

thats creepy that you know their work schedule so well

(Herandar) #91

Begging doesn’t guarantee a SD response, nor pestering, repeating, aggravating, etc. They won’t tell you anything any sooner than they are ready to.

(SuperWaz) #92

There’s not many working days left until release, and yet we’re still waiting for a number of PC server related questions to be answered.

Begging. pestering, reapeating or not, what possible reason could they STILL have for withholding such information?

Even the server companies can’t give any answers, not because of any NDA, but because they don’t know. And to make matters worse, they have also enquired.

This really isn’t looking good. Come on, Badman, spill the beans please?

(sham) #93

I guess SD are planning to have a launch day where there are no servers up because they didn’t give people time to get them sorted?

Leaving it so late with no details at all is a bit worrying. Especially as, over the last few years, I’ve gotten used to seeing players getting screwed over when it comes to dedicated servers.

Anyway bump and back to the first page.

(Mycologist) #94

Brink is sitting in my Steam cart waiting to be purchased, but I’m not buying it until I hear that there will be dedicated server support.

(riptide) #95

There will… they’ve said that and that they would release an SDK, but they’re being tight lipped about how the dedicated server will work and if there will only be 1 gsp available. You might want to post your concerns on the Bethesda forums because it’s probably up to them.

(SuperWaz) #96

I’ve tried asking on the Bethesda forums and my post on the subject disappeared overnight.

Badman, be a gent and put us out of our misery please

(nhiverson) #97

Hope we find out soon I’m not buying till we know just because I want to be careful on pc games for now on.

(SuperWaz) #98

I agree totally and cancelled my pre-order because of the lack of definitive information on how this game works with regards to client connectivity on PC.

The more I see of Brink and the interviews I read or watch, the more it’s got “console game” written all over it. Dedicated servers are a plus, but exactly what part do they play in the game on PC as a whole?

Like I have said many times, I realise that consoles are where the big money is, but trying to squeeze every last penny out of the game by being deliberately vague with a dedicated PC community is just wrong in my book.

I should add, you have no idea how much I hope that I am proved completely and utterly wrong. Brink has so many fantastic aspects to it. It would be nothing less than a crime to waste such potential on a few poor executive decisions.

(ktr) #99

I also haven’t preordered yet because of the lack of information on the PC platform. Stupid NDA where the developers can’t go in detail about the PC platform. What is there to hide? Only reason I can think of is that they’re hiding huge disappointment.

(Nail) #100

then you have very little imagination
