You are absolutely right and there’s no logical reason for a NDA or withholding information.
If you have a good game, you’d want to get the quality information out there. You don’t keep it contained and leave people questioning the lack of information available.
The fact that Paul Wedgwood stated that the PS3 is the “lead platform” also makes me wonder just how much love they really have for the PC community.
He tells HipHop Gamer—who, to the best of my knowledge, only ever games on a PS3—that PS3 is the lead platform, and suddenly you wonder if Paul Wedgewood—who, to the best of my knowledge, only ever games on a PC—doesn’t care about PC gamers.
Seems legit. I’m worried, but not for the quality of the game. I’m worried that they’re going to do irreparable harm to the image of Brink in the eyes of the PC community by failing to advertise.
I believe PS3 was the lead platform, it’s been said many times if you can do it on PS3 it’ll work on any platform, PS3 being the hardest to develop for

I’m more worried that the irreparable harm will be caused by them failing to LISTEN to what’s important to PC gamers.

It’s kinda funny cause I quit PC gaming about 10 years ago now. :I
But hopefully making a comeback. As soon as I can get ~$500.

I actually have a PS3 and 360 and console gaming is great, but for first person shooters you just can’t beat the keyboard and the mouse.
I just bought a GTX480 Super OC for Brink too (and Battlefield 3), which is why I’ll be majorly p*ssed if we’re forced to connect via someone’s useless ISP connection while his family are watching Youtube videos downstairs.

Point being, they’ve been making PC games for going on 10 years now. Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory came out about 3 months before I quit gaming on my PC. I think they’re experienced enough to know what gamers want. If they don’t give it to you it won’t be because they’re incapable of thinking, like chickens looking up in the rain.
I know that he is on the XBox Live leaderboard here, but, yeah, he is a PC gamer.
There will be dedicated servers, SD has said many times this is going to happen. The details people are waiting on are the hows and whos, sure that might be disappointing when it comes but you’ll have dedicated servers!
Including P2P or localhost capability without screwing with server files would be a great addition. Better a working local host and limiting the players than no dedicated server or one with a crappy ping. Options!

Yes I agree they have said in various interviews that PC will have traditional Dedi servers.
So I have hopes that SD especially with their PC background will deliver but they are leaving this all very very late and that worries me.
As I can see no reason for not releasing all the info on the game now…The release is set and the game has gone gold.
I can’t fathom their thinking in not releasing all the server info…If they want servers up from day 1 then letting people know how to set up a dedi server and how to get the files is just good marketing.
Still its their game and their decision to make…I will wait patiently until they release the info…I hope its worth that wait…
He’s got 6931 gamerscore. It’s not correct to say that he only plays PC. He plays 360 for research purposes.
I hear what you’re saying, and SD do come from a decent PC background. That’s why I’m here.
However, the fact that the PS3 is the lead platform and they are unable to tell you ANYTHING about how the PC servers are going to work tells you that it’s not SD who are pulling the strings here.
PC gamers or not, if the puppet master says we’re going to have to screw the PC users, SD whether they like it or not, are going to do what they are told.
Or am I wrong?
