Dunno, i think i remember hearing something about VOIP??
Might be handy when playing on a decent server with regulars. Kinda annoying otherwise, but im sure it wil be mutable.
My clan uses both VOIP and Ventrilo when playing BF2. We use Ventrilo for global communication and VOIP when we are structed within squads and we find this works perfectly.
As for pub play, VOIP makes gaming much more interesting as listening to other people providing instructions is much more valuable than vsays imo.

Interesting one that - i suppose im used to 6v6 games - as QW will have larger sqauds, that solution might work.
Well, in what size will ETQW be played (competitive)? I heard some people are hoping for 6v6-play, although, considering that maps are made for 12v12, maybe the ‘Bf2-solution’ (8v8) might suit better…
However, I fear that it might be ‘The bigger the necessary team, the smaller the amount of teams playing’ (not only because it’ll be harder to communicate)…
Team speak should work just the same as ventrillo would which makes it a viable option for clans as prices of renting servers have dropped so much these days.
One thing i find with many games that use squads is that the communication is such a problem and games like bf2 the typed chat goes by so damn fast made worse becuase you can get so ingrossed with what your doing at the time.
I think by judging how many people here really are looking for team play voip would be so handy also it would be so cool if you could skip through channels (or atleast squad leaders) with ease, i cant help but think how microsofts game voice control used to work.
I think it’s been mentioned elsewhere, but we’ve had some really good 6v6 games in the office. Obviously, you need to know the map pretty well, and how to use all of the classes, abilities, items, weapons, deployables, vehicles, aircraft and what not.
If you play clan matches, you will play by a tactic so knowledge of maps, classes etc should be common knowledge to the team and 6vs6 should be fine imho
ya, i’ve seen a video interview with paul @ E3 where he mentions that very clearly (long time ago).
sure hope that gaming leagues and competitions go 6vs6 instead of 12vs12 ‘a la bf’ spamm-o-ramma nonsense.
@topic: you can create bindable keys within teamspeak (and other comms apps) to be able to chat with a specific person or a specific group of persons on a server (they don’t even need to be on the same channel). i’ve never tried bf2 voip but if it is anything like the one in Counterstrike, it sucks qualitywise, and in a clanwar you’d want to listen to everything that your clanmates are saying crystal clear.
on a public server… i’ll disable voip. vsays are more than enough to get things going on a public server (just imagine the vsays spamm in w:et but with voice comms :S).
i hope for at least an 8vs8 competition. From what I saw maps are big enough to play it without problems. But maybe it’s my previous experience(tribes-tribes2 with 8vs8,12vs12 and 14vs14) that makes me feel like 5vs5 or 6vs6 is too few…but it’s something that I have to see when I have the game, if devs says that it’s an ideal number to play, I still believe them
