Oh yeaaaaah. That explains how all those F2P mmos are still in business and make a lot of dosh.
How to turn Brink's epic fail into Brink's epic WIN !
I guess APB is free now and it doesn’t tok 4 years. If I remember right, APB was also one of the most expensive games(production wise) out there. Hmmm?
What is he a fanboy of? Hating the game? Well maybe if you had at least somewhat of a brain you would of had the mental capacity to read his posts where states that he likes the game. But a game in this state can’t be tolerated when we paid money for it.
APB is only free because the original company went into liquidation and had to sell off their IP for whatever they could get for it. The company running it now got a bargain and simply had to listen to the feedback from the failure. Although, from what I hear, APB: reloaded is plauged by all the original issues that shut APB down, except now you can hire guns with microtransactions.
REALLY? Shame on all of the people that bought a game that was unplayable? REALLY? Shame on you my friend, shame on YOU! People like you are the reason this ship crap and patch later process is still in practice after 16 years of it becoming a standard for the industry.
THEY(SD) should be ashamed of themselves for the fraud they commited. This game was supposedly DONE for 2 years and was simply being tweaked. There is no way in hell that the people at Sd DIDNT knoiw that they were shipping a product in such poor state and now we have to listen to fanboys defend the travisty that has went down here. I am sorry to tell you but the people that got RIPPED out of $60 are NOT the people that perpetrated this act of fraud and yes thats is exactly what it was, FRAUD. 16 videos of this game for DL on 360 before it came out, more videos than I have seen for any other game. They hyped the hell out of it because they knew the games playability was ass at launch and wanted mass sales to start because after the initial buys they would not sell many more. They knew this. If they didnt, they are total dumb asses and should not make games anyways.
You fanboys, that defend this kind of crap, your pathetic.
You say that SD should make millions from selling a game that is still in VERY poor shape nearly 2 months after shipping and people should not complain about it… That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard. You should go work for SD, you would fit right in. You already have a thieves mentality and you can probably justify anything through smoke and mirrors. SD will deservedly lose many potential customers, for future titles, over this. Your crappy business practices will not be tolerated, by the masses, and you will have consequences and repercussions for your VERY poor choice to release BRINK in such a poor state. That is how it should be. The masses are the ones you better listen to. Not these FANBOYS here, that are the minority. They cannot support your company on their meager numbers.
I also believe we need something more than your tiny DLC to make up for your poor choices on this title. You need to restore peoples faith in your company and releasing 2 “free” maps, thats really all it is as the rest is fluff, isnt going to cut it. The 2 “free” maps arent free either. I paid for them when I spent $60 for a BETA. As far as I am concerned, they need ALL DLC’s to be free for this game. OR, give people that still have the game, that are upset about buying a BETA, a FULL refund of their purchase price. Its the only fair thing to do. $60 is alot of money in this economy and you robbed alot of folks out of their $60, knowingly. Keep in mind, if the game had not have been released as a BETA, you guys would not be having all of this negativity. People would be playing and enjoying a working title.
So let me see if I understand this correctly. Because you yourself felt you were in essence robbed by the lack of content in Brink, you come on the forum and in essentially rant about how those who support the game as it is are “fanboys”, not taking into account that there are a lot of people who actually do enjoy the game, flaws and all. As far as your arguments of what Brink is missing…been there, done that. We all know what the game lacks. We’ve all discussed it until we’re blue in the face. And majority of us have made peace with the fact that the game was pretty much incomplete when it was shipped. Your sentiments about paying $60 for a beta aren’t misplaced. Not at all even…
…what IS misplaced is your obvious juvenile resentment. Do you know why you see more posts on forums from people “hating” on Brink then people praising it? Because the people who like the game…are to busy PLAYING the game. And what’s more is the fact that people like you (and I say it like that because there are more then enough of “you”) pan anyone who disagrees, and makes valid points in their disagreement with your views as being fanboys. AKA…the easy way to deny that there are two sides of the coin. People hate Brink. People love Brink. Reason why the people who hate it seem to be more adamant to voice (or more so force) there opinions on everyone else is because the people who love the game could care less what the opinions of the naysayers are. Sooooooooooo then someone like you happens along making a completely deprecating post meant to deliberately elicit a negative reaction from the community. There’s a word they use on the internet for that I think.
Oh yes, I remember it now. Trolling.
Had your presentation been a little more…I dunno… conducive to the subject matter of the thread and less a sad, pathetic attempt to get attention, I might have actually sympathized with your statements. But as it stands, it’s all drivel…and if anyone even remotely takes any of what you posted seriously, they’re even more naive then you are. And no, that’s not me insulting you…though I can assume that’s how you’ll take it anyway. Even if as you said “you like the game, just not the state it’s in”, there’s a right way to address it, and a wrong way. Your way is so far on the wrong way side it’s practically faded from view.
Actually you broke the analogy in your example.
The example you are putting forward is if Brink never ran on your system (and you met system requirements). If that were the case then yes. I agree. Take the game back to the store and ask for a refund. No sound in a cinema is the equivalent of a game that will not start / crashes when opening.
If, however, you can play the game and you simply do not like it or think that it is sub-par then it’s like going to watch a movie that you dislike or that you think is B-grade. No sane cinema is going to give you your money back because you thought the film was bad, but you were still able to watch it. If this were true I’d be able to get my money back for “Spiderman 2” but they wouldn’t give it to me even though Seabiscuit is a complete nob that cannot act to save his life.
And I disagree that we’re being used as beta testers. Balancing and responding to community feedback is not beta testing at all.
You might have already noticed it… We talk about two diffent things. I talk about broken stuff not minor gameplay tweaks. You know about those certain ATI users? Or official matches being stopped because users “could not be authenticated”. Game breaking ****!
Boo hoo hoo. Mommy I spent my pocket munni on a game I don’t like. I’m going to tell the whole world constantly and be a massive crybaby. Waaaaaaah
When all else fails you’re arguments have been proven wrong, resort to insults.
APB went f2p because it was scooped up for cheap by a primarily Free-2-play company. GameFirst puts out free-2-play games. It wasn’t gonna be anything else but F2P, under GF. They would not have bought it if they couldn’t fit into their existing F2P business model.
Similarly with CHAMPIONS from Cryptic. Perfect World bought Cryptic and their games and is making those game F2P. Perfect World is another F2P company. The difference is PW bought the developers and their warez. A better situation than APB where the game and not devs were purchased.
And for those who say Free-2-Play makes money… It doesn’t just fall out of the ether. They make their money with microtransactions which in itself is a very expensive business with much technical and engineering backend to maintain. And F2P companies are constantly combating fraud on so many levels.
You just can’t go Free-2-play!
Tell that to TF2 and many MMOs that have been f2p since they started and have been going on for 5+ years perfectly fine.
Huh? Come on man. I try to give you the benefit of the doubt. But at some point, you gotta start making some sound sense, man! Did you even read what I just wrote.
Tell that to TF2!? A game that has built a rich item shop over 4yrs and is just now going F2p after it has recouped its dev and marketing cost many times over>? Really?!
and any MMO that has been out for years…is an MMO that has uh, been out for years, and has built their biz around microtransactions. There is no free-2-play MMO that does not live and die by way of microtransactions and properly managing the fraud that comes with virtual goods commerce.
You guys do release nick is like 13, there is no point of fighting with this guy he has no idea what he is talking about and he is a troll. If you really hated this game so much why do you hang out here on these forums, please ignore this child
Yes Uncle Bastuden. You are actually so completely correct. Most of the concepts people have put forth seem to go right over his head.
If that was aimed at me I have an interesting story to tell…
I’m at work. Not a lot going on so I sneak a peek at the forum. My boss thinks I’m on a football (soccer to you colonials) forum so has a peek at I’m upto. After realising I’m on a computer games forum and after royally taking the piss out of me for “being a geek” he reads some of your crybaby posts on a fans game forum and comes out with the immortal phrase “what a ****”.
Hey. I’m only passing on the info.

Your boss is officially boss of the year. There’s a reason why Nick got ran off the Bethesda boards. I guess he had to end up somewhere. Hopefully when (not if, when) he’s run off from here he’ll have only the gamefaqs forum to troll, which no one goes to anyway. Crosses fingers
