How to turn Brink's epic fail into Brink's epic WIN !

Idea just came to my mind !

So, after catastrophic release of the Brink game, many peoples are disappointed, many peoples bought the game just to play few times and say “what the… what happened with all the devs promises about great game!!!”. negative reviews, etc. etc… ok let’s get to the point:

Now Splash Damage should work hard on some great multiplayer title with ALL these features that community wants, listen to voices on the forum and make something epic like W:ET but better and most important…

FREE !!!

why ? because peoples who like Brink are in minority over peoples who bought this game and feel tricked (like i feel).

And since we already paid for the game that is unplayable, it would be sensible to make next game free. Many would say something like “wow, SD really care about their fans, and after they disappointed them, now returning in great style”…

that’s one of best ideas i could think of !!!

and what do you think ?

I already said this in another thread.

But as someone said in a steam thread. “Free poop is still poop”.

The announcement of brink being f2p has to be grand, AND it has to be good when announced F2P.

It becomes f2p in this state. People dl it. Play it for a while. Quit.
Later made good. Not so many people will dl it.

didn’t noticed you posted such idea earlier, not watching these forums much…

giving this game f2p as it’s now, well i tell you i hate Brink so much that i want to get rid of the original copy so i asked my girl who love playing pc games if she wants it ( i said “hey, its great game !! maybe you want to have it!!”, she said “erm, no, thanks, i saw you playing this o.O”).

The only scenario i would play Brink as it’s now is when someone pay me each time i run Brink.

and i hope that Brink 2 is a lie not a true.

I’m not convinced SD sees it like that.
They broke the sales numbers of ETQW.

I don’t understand why so many are still on SD’s nuts, like they’re so grand.
If so, why not address the issues via announcement, or a thread?
A handful of direct answers and motives would settle things down
and eliminate the need for so many threads dealing with the same subject.

Also, a separate section for pc-competition.
In general, console players have no idea where pc users are coming from,
so it’s been an uphill climb simply ignoring useless replies or addressing ignorance.

FTP, unlikely.
Yes it would bring credibility back to the company though.

You think they should spend millions to make a free game for those of you who don’t like the current BRINK? Sounds to me like you all need to go to a friends house and watch some gameplay before you open your pocket books. Its still a business and they are not an indie developer. They are under the mighty Zenimax. Doubtful they’re gonna let SD just tool away at a game that will bring in zero money. This is for the very reason you’ve already given. The game didn’t do well or as well as hoped. So why spend money, which wasn’t made on BRINK 1, to make a free game. Throwing good money after bad.

Come on people. You bought a game. You don’t like. Shame on you. Not them. Be more careful what you spend your money on. It not like you expected BRINK and got Pokemon.

op was hilarious, I loved it.

Concerning your idea though, do you really think that a company that has 70 employees will want to work for free? I don’t think so.

As far as the inference you are making; that splashdamage cares that you claim you will never buy another SD game ever. Do you really believe that they think that? I don’t think so.

SD knows that you only care about what the write-up claims and what the critics claim (after they have been handed a few bills by certain folk).

SD knows they have you and you know what? It just doesn’t matter to them or to you, you will buy another SD if they can trick you into buying it again.

Personally, here is the solution to all of this:
Take W:ET and change the name of the game, change the outfits, make 10 new maps, release the sourcecode and programming code after 6 months, take all references of enemy territory out of the pk3 files so no one will know. Sell it for $10. And I GARAUNTEE you, SD will make millions, players will be happy. EVERYONE is happy!

Sorry guys but this goes in the wrong direction. Customers should be protected and not the sellers/producer/etc. When buying a product, you can expect it to work properly if not explicitly labeled otherwise. Offering effectivly Beta software for a fully finished game is fraud and that the gaming industry can get through with it, is even worse.

As much as I love brink, I really hate these beta pushing **** nowadays.

Broke sales on of ETQW. Ye…Because Brink was on consoles (I know ETQW was also on consoles, but only till later and it massive MASSIVE poo).

TF2 is several years old now and has recuperated it’s development costs many times over
Maybe in a few years this suggestion would be valid
Doing this now would just majorly p-off those that have already spent their children’s inheritance

TF2 went free-2-play after 4 years of being released. and TF2 WENT f2p. it didn’t create a new game for free to please those who were not happy with Tf2.

you think i bought Brink without checking what i’m buying ??

No, i was sitting on SD forum, i was watching videos from gameplay before it got released, i was hearing SD saying how GREAT Brink is, how UNIQUE it is !!!

Finally the reviews came, i still remember thread on this forum where SD staff post a thread where they list POSITIVE reviews, no negative reviews was listed, like they didn’t wanted the truth to came up earlier.

Look what i think, if Besheda decided Brink wont sell, we drop this project and SD says Okay, lets release it as it’s now, buggy unfinished but shhht, dont tell noone coz we wont earn $

sorry but for me it’s kind of scam. No? then how it’s called when someone tells you “buy that, it’s ORIGINAL ROLEX”, and then it’s chinesee fake piece of lalala that becomes useless the same day you buy it ? not scam ?

When that day come, when i can throw away the ammount of money i spend on Brink, i will laugh with you, for now i’m lalalaed off !
