How to ruine a superb concept ?!

This is a message too creators of Et as i don’t have any email of you guy’s and i guess they will be hard to find so i make short post here maybe someone will contact me.
Shortly about myself; i’m 31 from belgium and leader off |B&S|clan.
First of all wanna thank you guy’s for 2500 hours fun i had on ET. It’s a great game with a superb and unique concept.
Most shooting games now look pretty nice but they all are pretty much the same and they lack nice duels, witch you can only find on ET. You won’t find many closecombat duels in other shooters as damadge off weapons is too high so people will hide, camp and rape mainly and only have close combat in cases they can’t avoid it.
When ET QW came out i was pretty excited about it till i saw a nice looking game without much duelling situations as the main game ain’t about infantery only. And about teams i guess strogg is little in advantage vs humans.

Today i found out about ET 2, again i was excited till i saw trailer. Axis vs aliens??? This must be a joke! It do look pretty nice actually but plz reconsider this whole game and create another duelling WWII game as this concept is unique. Beeing unique will get you guy’s more money. Creating another rape,shootthemupgame will do the job too but i guarantee you guy’s not as much succes and money.
Anyway ET is still popular game after 6 years and not only because it’s free game but because it’s unique (except for pro; too much recoil and knockback = less duels more rapes) concept.

I totaly agree with Bavo, as now with the new ET, the fun is gone. We dont want fight as or against alliens, we want old school WOII veterans. And as Bavo said, the fights wont be thesame as in ET, with all those supersonic spacy weapons. We want artilery, mines, machine guns and pistols. Dont ruine our game please.

what are you talking about. The game in that video is return to castle wolfenstien 2. W:ET was based on the multiplayer from the original return to castle wolfenstien

this game however isnt part of the ET universe and goes back to the original return to castle wolfenstien settings. The “Aliens” are infact supernatural monsters that the nazi’s have unleashed, this is a strong theme of return to castle wolfenstine series

All the footage in that game is from the single player campain anyway so doesnt reflect what the multiplayer will be like (rtcw had supernatural elemts in the single player but the multiplayer was miuch closer to ET, W:ET is infact based on the rtcw multiplayer)

Hmm it seems in that case i’m badly informed but i strongly suggest a remake of ET as it’s only shoot them up game with many closecombat duels and i guess new ET based on the old one will be a great succes esspecially as most developers create all around games with tanks ect.
Anyway i wouldn’t be playing ET if there where any nice duellingshootergames as ET.

in my point of view there’s nothing wrong with the current ET. it’s still a blast as it is. so what would a remake be good for? what would it look like in your opinion? it can’t be the gfx as most players dumb them down for the benefit of smoothness. and i doubt that people would pay for a remake of the same game if they can have the original for free.

lots of pc gamers have high end comps now,i do and i want the best out of my card and pro etc…
eye candy is a must 4 me and lots of other ppl,and it sells.
bet ya if they made a w/et remake it would be no1 seller if i had enough money i would buy into it and make it happen :smiley:

So would you pay $45-50 for W:ET, which is freely downloadable, only to have better graphics so the $100-200 spent on your graphics card is not so much of a waste?

I think they did right by making ET:QW how it is, even though it has issues.

Lol i own enough to buy many games^^
But i won’t as i think they all suck!
But if there would be remake of et i would pay with easy 200 euro for that game!
Anyway i rent servers for about 100 euro /month so be sure i would buy new ET as it’s concept is unique.
Btw i got 9800 gtx so i don’t need to buy new card for the moment :stuck_out_tongue:
ET is 6 years old if i’m not mistaken so if people prefer to play such old game instead of newer ones with up to date grapics, this says enough. And i’m not talking about the kids that like ET because it’s for free and because they can’t afford to buy games or they can’t afford to buy decent pc, i’m talking about those that stick to et as there’s no other recent duelling shooter?
And to respond to Blitz; they should look more to gameplay as most games are just almost the same.
Like Darknight says; it would sell like hell :slight_smile:
Gaming industry is the stongest industry there is; so plz create unique concept; i’ll be glad and you’l be too as you’ll rais more money

i need to ask again as you didn’t answer it and i’m curious by nature: what exactly would a remake be good for? and how would it look like in your opinion? you added your email address for discussion, so i guess you already have some thoughts about it

pacman comes to my mind as an example. it’s a unique and awesome game. yet every remake i’ve seen so far sucks, there’s no way that you can get the same game experience again except if you play the original with it’s most simple gfx. so what would a remake of wolf:et look like in your opinion? which features would it have to distinguish it from wolf:et?

Lol ! Strange you compare a game like pacman with shootergames!
Off course a remake of that game won’t work, as pacman was unique when it was created (20 years ago?) but the game is that simple! So people will prefer games with more depth:D The time of to simple games is over:wink: That’s the reason why remake off that game won’t work as it is complete logic people won’t play simple games if there are complex ones :slight_smile:
Off course you’ll always have little kids playing this kind of games as tetrix because they can’t do pretty much other stuff and off course you’ll have small amount off adult playing only tetris or pacman. But making big profits on new pacman ??? Sure why not :tongue:
About Et you guy’s left a concept behind to create ETQW. A concept beeing very popular and beeing unique. Wanna have big profits, then consider to make a game with the old concept of ET.
And i’m not here to convince you guy’s or too look creditfull. You off all created ET and should know what concept is behind it and why this game became such popular game and excist still after 6 years.

So can’t really say i find this matter to be compared!
But here’s question for you m8: why people stick to old game as ET when there are 100 of other nice games with much better grapichs? Why buy new games if there gameplay doesn’t rock?

ET ( the old version ) would have been dead allready if the game wasn’t for free. So i’m concerned about the future. One day ET Will be as good as dead and that time i need to change B&S to other game, and i mean duelling shooter!
There are NONE!
So hell yeah you guy’s would have succes with remake of ET or with a game based on gameplay like it is on ET= Not to big maps, dealing whith croshair, playing for object (witch is not to difficult), infantery only as you can ride on tank but can’t get init, many close combats and duelling situations, keep damadge low (not 1shot 1kill) ect ect.
And please reconsider stuff like recoil and knockback as it diminishe duels and get people to hide camp and rape

But if you wanna see with your own eye’s what i mean visit this ip 84.244.186.26:27960 (EtPUB server with our own B&S settings who are pretty unique and even as Et is way less popular as it was 3 years ago we manage still to get that server full everyday).

Anyway if you guy’s ain’t interrested i’ll try to contact other developpers untill i find one that will have an eye for urning money and providing fun. So let me know if my words are useless or not plz :wink: then i need to continue my way :slight_smile:

meaning no offense, but using your word: yes, your words are indeed currently useless. there is no real information in them, except that you think of “how to ruine a superb concept”. ie you say that et is fun. that’s it. btw, the comparison wasn’t between pacman and shootergames, but between concepts of games and their remakes to fit your thread.

this “i’ll try to contact other developers untill i find one that will have an eye for urning money and providing fun” makes me ask: why don’t you do that and get money from it if your idea is so awesome? but if you do, you should do more than just saying that the previous game worked, but they should make a remake.

Hmm i thaught i was clear on that part. They will buy such game because they will like the close combats the duelling, Not the raping of others mainly, witch aquires skill too off course.
As is pretty clear Et ain’t a realistic game so people are not playing ET because of that i guess some of us do because it’s such superb game with alot of duels teamplay and playing for object (witch are not to hard to manage). Others will play it because it’s free and they don’t earn money and they will depend on there parents to buy new game.
Fair duels and a lot off them that’s what’s behind ET and playing as a team off course.
Why because of the pretty small maps, the damadge witch ain’t to high so you need 3 headshots or more to kill opponent. This means if you can’t shoot him straight headshots you’ll find yourself into a duel. On B&S server we increased the staminarecharge of speed a little so you can move more fast but even without that you’ll have nice “dances” in combat witch aquires skill too offcoursefor example the skill to move swiftly and shooting headshots. Never seen that in other games as they way you can move does imply if you get duells or not. If you can move pretty fast, then you are able to walk more freely and while getting hit looking for hiding space so you can return fire so movement is very important for the gameplay and it will determine if you will have more duels or more camping and raping business. So the settings and the movement determine this and at et (except for et pro ) the conditions are so you will have lot’s of close combat duels.
And new features in et like suggested above would be nice as beeing a extra.
The only weakness about ET is the medic beeing overrated vs other classes so that’s why we setof medic selfheal so they will defend others and heal instead of running away after there ramboaction for cover.
Maybe you guy’s should do marketing about this and try to find out if this will be big moneymaker or not. For me gaming is about fun and providing otrhers fun by renting servers and leading clan. You’ll only make big money if you can provide this fun and guy’s how many looklike shootinggames we have like ETQW. A lot! Maybe MOHAA is abit look alike ET but game is almost dead. I can’t think about any nice game witch provides nice duels instead i’ll face tanks as beeing sniper and even in the future i guess they have amorpiercing bullets at least the strogg have :tongue:
Anyway if you guy’s change your mind i guess you’ll get to be leading shootergamedeveloper pretty soon. If not you’ll never find out ::wink:
Anyway i think it’s nice objective for any developer to become most played multiplayer game.
How to do so it’s up to you i did my best giving some info if you still not see clearness in here visit this server i told you about and you’ll see what i mean :wink:
And i ain’t in for the money if i’ll provide info it’s for free so who’m am i to tell you guy’s what’s the concept about you guy’s created the game^^
Anyway i hope i don’t offend any with my comments as this ain’t my intention behind it neither is gaining money out of it my obj. I just want a future for my clan, to be able to provide fun and have fun. So if no developer does make such game my clan will die in about 2 years as et will be dead by then. That’s the only thing i’m concerned about. You guy’s better think about it and think about why ETQW ain’t such succes as suspected.
And about the title; it was not my intention to insult any off you but to attarct attention with it.
It’s not because i don’t like ETQW that it ain’t good game but it ain’t unique at all as i hear many comparing ETQW with Battlefield as i agree too .
And Joe you are correct if i do contact other developers i need to anaylise ET completely i was hoping you guy’s would know about ET concept after all but in case this conversation is sometimes about me prooving myself. I think its a good idea, but if there come’s a second version of the online et, then i think it should have also story in it ( like a single player campaing). that every map you play online has a kind of purpose in like worldwar 2. that will make the game more interesting.
if it looks realistic ( not only graphics, also the story) it will be the best game there is.
and people will pay for it.

instead of a new game, why dont they release some nice user friendly tools to modify the game ourselves, cause gtk radiant isn’t that user friendly to be honest.

I was trying out team fortress 2 recently (steam game) and the map editor on that game is awesome, very easy to use.

then us the community could improve the game to our likings.

The only postive thing that would come of releasing a new ET in the stores, is bringing gamers back to this game, cause some people only play the newest games…
