Doesn’t really change much for me (none of my friends play DB) in terms of functionality, but the UI appearance is just an eyesore. If SD returned back to the old lobby UI with the new balancing and merc switching systems, the lobby would be awesome.
How Do You Like The New Lobby?
Nope, you can queue as a group in Competitive.
It can be with a bigger player pool.
I like the way it looks. I despise that I can’t play with my partner anymore, with whom I’ve played casual pub with solely for almost 500 hours in this game.
Absolutely fucking awful.
I think the balance system needs to be a bit more strict, in a situation where im playing 3v6 (which happens often) and people who join just insta quit it should realize a force shuffle is needed.
I’m saying this from a pub sided view no comments regarding comp obviously.
The reason we need this is, more often than not, yes you want to have your friends on your team and ect, a more balanced game is much more fun, take cs’s force shuffle for example which separates friends at times if its needed.
I usually call for shuffle votes, but they always end up with the enemies who enjoy stomping voting no or just people not caring enough to even vote.
force shuffle should occur at certain time frames though, not with like 1 minute left of playtime, but say an objective has a default timer of 5-7 mins, then if the system detects uneven teams or uneven scores (where the difference is blatant both point-wise and kdr-wise) halfway through the timer so per say at 4 mins if its a 7 min or at 3 mins if its a 5 min objective, in case it goes through to the next stage and the timer grows more (say 12 mins), then at intervals of ~4-5 mins it should check for balance.
that’s my 2 cents, but as always, thanks for being awesome guys, the patches just keep getting better and i grow to love you even more,
Keep on playing dirty <3
Obj pubs were incredibly more balanced last night due to sorting being done at the end of the lobby instead of the beginning. I still wish it was done with everyone on server before a round starts but this is definitely better in regards to getting teams more evenly balanced.
However, it does take away one of the two ways to easily play on the same team with friends. Which I can see some people being upset with as they hate going against their friends in MP games. It will definitely be a pretty big sore point for some.
You must have played in a game after the ones we played in because you made a snide remark about the “amazing” level balance that happened during two seperate matches lol.
The team colour needs to be less vibrant. I see those colours and I think they might be appropriate for bubblegum wrappers.
Let me be objective… I’m happy with some, but not quite with others.
First, I wish to thank devs for implementing a semi-convenient merc change. It’s not as fancy as the one I have documented in the thread, but it works just as fine
http://i.imgur.com/yVI5O0z.jpg
In this image, we can change the merc and the loadout in use directly by clicking on the merc and loadout button.
Second, a bit of a wildcard got thrown. As we can conveniently select our mercs for play, we somehow lost a bit of information on how our play can synergize with the rest of the team.
http://i.imgur.com/EOxVyOZ.jpg
In this second image we have no idea who we’re playing with and against. Further, we have no idea who in our team is playing what merc and consequently, leave us baffled as to how our team would go.
Third is a surprise (I’ve give to you, at no charge; or wait. EXPLOSIVE CHARGE!)
http://i.imgur.com/9IyFPIF.jpg
It is finally revealed who is doing what and who is with who. In this instance, it was OK (LOL at all the Vassilis), but there are occasions where we had no ammo supplier and we can’t keep up the offense or defense because we always had to die or run to the ammo crate to resupply.
Of course, because the game now dynamically assigns the player as the game commences for “balance”, team cohesion is somehow lost. Sooo, when is the next update happening?
Would’ve been great if you figured that out before releasing a garbage lobby system that prevents you from playing with friends. Gee, playing games with friends. Why would anyone want to do that?

Even if this was ill mannered, I have to agree. This system really should have been released along side a party system. Having it this way really does piss people off. You can go to play stopwatch, but people tend to not like that game mode for some odd reason?

Because matches are only 15 minutes tops. It’s nice to have new rounds/maps more regularly imo. Also I feel like objective matches tend to be a lot closer. In stopwatch, once a team does decent as first half attackers it feels like the other team gives up quickly in most matches.
I love the new lobby, it’s allowed for much more balanced matches and it’s not that big of an issue to not play on the same team as your friends. I’ve always said, if you’re going to lose, it’s better to lose to someone you know rather than a stranger, because it’s easier to have fun with a friend no matter the outcome.
I don’t really have an issue with not being able to switch teams with Objective, in fact I find that is the most logical way to go about it since Objective mode is the most casual version of the game with little to no commitment needed. Whereas Stopwatch we still have the ability to switch teams and thus allows us to play with friends as we normally would, which is more enjoyable because those are longer matches which equals more fun.
Of course I know that playing with friends means a great deal to people, including myself, but it’s also a great issue in the game when it comes to balance, I’d say though with these changes we’re likely to see two solutions to playing with friends.
Option A: They revert the changes in Objective mode.
Option B: They implement a public party system where you can get 2-3 people in a group(To prevent a total stomp) and enter a server together to be on the same team. In an ideal world this would be done through Quick Join or a matchmaking algorithm but we simply do not have the playerbase to make that reliable and as such there is no sure fire solution to joining a game with friends and being able to be on the same team right off the bat.

Yea, I can see that point of view. I personally love stop watch but I could see the appeal in objective or why people would avoid stop watch

Agreed.
It’s just more exciting to play, those last few minutes can come down to the wire and it’s really satisfying when it does.
Stopwatch does not do this at all. It’s all pretimed by the attacking team. If you are not keeping pace, you know you will lose. It’s a lot harder see those clutch moments that lead to wining the game 10 minutes before the game actually ends.
@Dispenzor posted this.
This is competitive. You wanna talk about balance… concentrate on competitive balancing. I don’t see a point in trying to balance casual play. It’s even harder to understand why SD would change objective matches and not stopwatch matches. I mean if this is an attempt to balance the games then I don’t see why it would be acceptable to balance objective matches and not stopwatch matches. Can you not stack teams on stopwatch too?
This just looks like a tactic to make it so that accumulating credits becomes more time consuming for those wishing to play with friends… Implying that because we play with our friends, we “Stack” one side and have more chances of winning. Like @Jurmabones said, objective matches are only 15 minutes tops. I avoid stopwatch like the fuckin’ plague because it can be brutally long.
The new lobby look looks great… the balancing changes to the objective matches, on the other hand, are really dumb.
Because stopwatch in form is a bit closer to the competitive. You expect more parties there.
That’s the most convoluted conspiracy theory about DB I’ve ever heard
And it’s wrong, because if you are stomped then you won’t get much XP, same with stomping when on attack. The only situation when you get some decent XP is while stomping on defence. But evenly matched games are the most reliable way to get XP.
Look, guys. This is a compromise. It may not look pretty to some of you, but to others it’s great. It has significantly reduced the amount of miserable games. (Except attacking first objective on Bridge of course, this one is hopeless
)
Private matches.
Stopwatch.
Playing with some and against some friends in Objective.
There’s plenty of options for playing with friends. It’s not ideal, it won’t please everyone. But if someone goes “but I want to also play Objective will all my friends in the same team and I don’t care about anyone else” then sorry, but that is just unreasonable. I’m not even listing competitive for now, but hopefully playerbase will grow and matchmaking will improve.
I haven’t played DB for awhile because of my Rainbow Six Siege access, but seeing that you can’t play with friends anymore just pushes me away even further.
I’m tired of companies balancing games around anti social people who don’t want to team up with others. If you’re getting stomped it’s no one’s fault but your own. If you’re tired of getting stomped go into the recruitment section of the forums and join a damn clan. Not only will your team work get better you’ll be able to get tips on how you can improve and learn little secrets to the game you didn’t know about.
I’m really disappointed with what crowd is being catered to. This game is all about team work and it’s being balanced around people who want to run around like they’re playing CoD. I’m not going to vote because obviously I haven’t tried out the new lobby and can’t give a serious opinion on it.
U wot mate? I’m sorry that I have a job and a wife and that I only can play a few hours a week. When I can play I want some short matches in Objective and I prefer them balanced - and they are way more balanced since the update!
Objective mode is the casual mode in Dirty Bomb, see the update notes:
We’ve changed how teams are organized in our public, casual Objective matches.
And to clarify this: It’s people like me who have a job and not a lot of time who pay for new merks and loadouts. It’s people like me who fund the game so others can play for free. Maybe you should reconsider whom you are calling “anti social”.

The people who have friends are the ones who are pissed, obviously. Those who don’t are real happy but I don’t think the people who are social need to pay because others are loners. I mean come on… Isn’t this the point of Dirty Bomb? Wasn’t it advertised at some point as a game in which working together is crucial? How are you gonna accomplish that if you’re forcing people to play solo? Everyone is gonna be having the “Me, Myself and I” mentality which will lead to complete chaos and really frustrating games.
“but I want to also play Objective will all my friends in the same team and I don’t care about anyone else” - Well… yeah? Am I supposed to feel sorry because I have friends and other people don’t? When you get into a game solo, you already know going into it that it’s highly likely that there will be no teamwork/communication which will significantly reduce your chances of winning. So if the other team has 1 or 2 groups of friends that voice to each other… Big fucking deal. Deal with it.
You don’t have friends that play Dirty Bomb with you… does that mean I can’t have any? That’s pretty fucked up.
@Atherel I’ve bought every single merc with $$ and have spent over 300$ on cases. Your logic is the game should be catered around people like you that rarely play? What a moronic thing to say. I work full time and have enough time to play so nice try with that excuse. Not only that there are many clan members that are married, but have time to get on ts3 and chill. If you’re whipped that’s your own problem buddy.
