How come so many RTCW players didn't like ET?

The counter argument is the narrower the spread the more accurate you need to be or you’ll miss.

For example, try shooting slightly to the side of someone with a shotgun, and then with a rifle. With the shotgun you’ll hit the target because of the wider spread. With the rifle you’ll miss. So does it take more “skill” to hit someone with a shotgun, or with a rifle? Bearing in mind that the target is doing his outmost to prevent being hit! And that player movement isn’t slower in ET, only the rate of fire.

Come on Kendle, if narrower spread was a disadvantage nobody would crouch when shooting.
I don’t see this discussion going anywhere, can’t we just drop it?

(Kendle) #63

No, of course it’s not a disadvantage, I’m just countering the common misconception that it’s easier to aim in ET. It isn’t.

And it all goes back to the original question, to which my answer is “misconception”. RTCW players, in particular, having experience of a similar but different game, have more misconceptions about ET than anyone else.

They are just snobby, stuck-up b@$t@rds lol :stuck_out_tongue:

surely its easier to aim in rtcw or thats what it felt like when I played the rtcw mod for ET lol =X the spread on it was fckin stupid just aim in general direction of enemy and you can hit them

(Demolama) #66

the mp40 spread for et and rtcw are the same… I dont know what the fuss is about spread

Do you mean the result would be identical in ET?

In RtCW combat usually was very intense, with short accurate burts from your SMG - if you wanted out of a firefight then you had to face your enemy and backoff fighting 'till you could get cover or die. In an average ET game you won’t see that so much, it’s as if you have slightly longer thinking time - course that won’t neccessarily be true of high-end clan wars but if I had to make a direct comparison then I’d say that the respective gameplay styles suit each games stock maps very well. If you’ve come from RtCW though ET certainly seems like and easier game - much harder to go back to RtCW from ET than the other way round.
