Like it or not, it’s obvious that RtCW is a much more higher skill component in its gameplay compared to ET.
Yesterday, when I was playing RtCW on PC Chubby_Bunny, (although it’s shrub, good players frequent that server. NARF players in particular…), a guy was commenting how different RtCW was compared to ET (this being his first time playing RtCW)…
I think the Rambo Medic was a lot less existent in RtCW for the follow reasons:
- the HP difference was generally negilible cuz of the higher firing rates. the first shot was far more important than just 15 more HP
- the regeneration was less of a factor cuz gunfights in RtCW were much shorter, therefore, you can only regenerate 10 HP max before the fight was over
- you can’t run in firefights in RtCW. You turn your back, you die. simple as that. in ET, it’s pretty easy to run away and feed yourself med packs.
- much harder get ammo in RtCW. I think the Ammo Racks in ET are bad for gameplay
I think spam is much more prevalent in ET for these reasons:
- Artillery suddenly has become the support fire of choice in ET. And for good reason, cuz it’s usually better. But in RtCW, the Airstrike used 50% of the bar while Artillery used 100%. But as mentioned above, ammo is harder to come by, so Airstrike became the support fire of choice as giving ammo was almost essential team victory. And Airstrikes do require more skill to use
*More nades. I think the Fd Op and Medic having a 2 grenade capactiy really is a big difference
*need to hand out less ammo. Mega Ammo packs totally own. (plus the ammo racks)
And I totally agree that ET turned the panzer more into a one person, one kill weapon. Instead of a mass killing machine in RtCW.
Decisions really MATTERED in RtCW. You fire that panzer now, you won’t fire it again for 30 seconds. You call that Arty now, you can’t call another for 30 seconds or hand out 1 ammo pack for 7 seconds. When someone falls in combat, you don’t go instinctly to revive them. In RtCW, using those two seconds to revive someone in a middle of a gun fight can easily mean death.
In ET, you can fire that panzer knowing you have another shot up your sleeve in the next 10 seconds. I’ll call that arty on their spawn point. Whoops! they just repaired the tank! Luckily I can throw an airstrike over it 5 seconds later.
The SMG’s in ET are far too versatile. They really have no serious weakness. You can do some amazing things with them. But about a choice of SMG’s, I dunno about that. 75% of ppl in RtCW seem to prefer the MP40 over the Thompson.
Oh, it seems ppl get higher percentages in RtCW than in ET, despite it’s obvious ET’s SMG’s have a much smaller spread. Well, I find that in RtCW, you do far more close combat fighting than in ET. It’s hard to break the 33% barrier in ET. But most people don’t have too much problems breaking 40% on mp_beach.
