Btw, can anyone say why everytime I tried to speak to ‘all’ I kept getting mute-penalty and tickede off 4 language!?. There was someone called Necromancer joined Higgin’s svr & I was trying to ask them but when the message did get displayed it was unreadable with letters replaced by asterixes?
Sounds like Higgins server is up the left! but I don’t know why people play etpub, etpro kicks ass. You should try out all diff versions of ET to see which you like. The VPL etpro server is full every day, usually after 3 or so but differs, so if you wanna join the craic go to the server below! ET FTW!

Loffy- No I’m in Scotland mate lol, not being sarcastic in anyway!, but linux is used all over the world not just in Finland lol. I do like it as an OS though, it can be a real pita to setup & configure but once you have it the way you want it, it’s a good, stable OS that can run on most minimal of spec machines. Ideal for running servers whether it be for business or a home LAN?. With the latest releases of Mdk (Mandriva 10.1 & 10.2) theres more automated driver installation procedures so 9 times out of 10 your NVidia card will work ‘out of the box’. In previous releases it was/is a case of unpacking the driver files then you still had to edit a conf file in order to tell it it had a driver for the card, where it is & that it’s allowed to use it!!.
I think as Linux is becoming more popular & being installed on many more home user’s PCs, it’s also becoming easier for anyone migrating from Windoze much easier.

The reason I wondered about the uncapping of the fps was purely to compare how well/fast the game runs in comparision to others, Q3 for example, for my netplay cfg it is capped.
My connection is 2Mb DSL and I usually ping anywhere between 20-50, my average is in the 30s but that’s not to say a 50 ping is bad to play on by any means!. Who can remember playing Q2DM/CTF with a 280 ping on 56k dial-up?

I’m off to stock up on somemore maps etc for ET.

It seems to be that way as it was only certain letters in my messages that were replaced.
Btw, what game browser does everone use nowadays?, I installed GSpy, just to get playing asap I suppose but it’s riddled with AdWare!!, every single shortcut or url link etc is being reported as Adware, including the GSpy executable!,
ie; “C:\Program Files\GameSpy Arcade\Aphex.exe” and of course if/when I quaranteen em I have noway of starting GSpy!?.
You ever hear of Eye Game Browser?, I have the install exe on disc but couldn’t even say if it’s still supported or not?.

As ET is based on the Q3 engine you’ll find the configs are extremely similar. If you know your way around the quake engine you’ll have no bother with ET.
The craic is an irish term. It can be used in many instances such as ‘Whats the craic?’ (How’s things /How are you) ‘It was good craic’ (It was fun) ‘The craic was ninety’ (It was great fun).

Btw, anyone hear dowmloaded the HL2 demo?, I ask coz I’ve d/l’d it twice in 2 days (all 751Mb of it!!) and, once installed I get past the pic of the dude with the valve sticking outta his eye then a brief glimpse of a colourfull loading screen before the puter restarts.
I know it’s only a demo but it’s not like it’s a pre-release beta or anything. I’m not sure if I like all this Steam shinnanigins!?.
@esskie not at my own machine right now but i use one myself i’ll post when i get home (although i think i sourced it online from somewhere - i’ll have a look)
edit: had something similar with HL2, the actual game. where the app would start up and then basically shut down. The there was an update on steam ( i think) a few days later. Try just starting up steam and check for any available updates.

Elder N - Yes it seemed to start it’s messing around when Steam was starting, it would say it was updating or similiar then terminate, unfortunately I can’t remember what I did (if anything?) to get past this.

Dazzamac - Another 512Mb!!, there’s 1Gb DDR400 (PC3200) in there already bro!?.
Quick rundown of my spec anyway:
AMD64 3200+
2 x 512Mb DDR400 RAM
GF-6600 256MbDDR2 PCI-Express
Winfast 6100K8MA (Sckt-939) mobo
I use XP Pro for gaming etc.
I only built it from scratch 2wks ago & this is the 1st game/app that’s given me any hassle to date, although I did find out that, despite working perfectly in 3 other PC’s, my crappy BTC-1008IM DVD -/+ R/RW combo drive just doesn’t want to play game at all. However, with so many inexpensive dual-layer/R9/DVD-RAM, etc, available now I plan to go buy a LG-4163B tomorrow.
I like the Samsung TS-H552U but after reading a review I’m not so keen as apparently :
Doesn’t support DVD-ROM booktype for DVD+R/+RW/+R DL formats
CD/DVD writing quality with specific media.
Doesn’t support overburning for DVD±R formats
Cannot play/rip CDS200 AudioCD protection
Cannot backup accurately up to v2.8x SD2 and newest protected titles
Doesn’t support Mount Rainier
Doesn’t support DVD-RAM
