Hi There,
Damn!, I had almost finished this post when I accidentially closed the browser window & lost the lot
.
Anyway, as I can’t be bothered typing it all out again (and to spare you the task of reading it all) I’m just going to make this one shorter.
Basically , hello everyone & everyone who I’ve never spoke to before
.
ayatollah - I’ve got both etpub & etpro in now so I’ll just need to ‘stock up’ on maps I guess?. I’ve taken note of the ip you posted for the VPN Clan svr & have grabbed most of the maps just so save having to d/l em before starting a game.
Just 2 questions mate:
so if you wanna join the craic go to the server below!
…the craic… is what??. And…
add the tapir to your sig!quote] tapir??? , prolly sumthin simple but bear in mind guys I’ve been ‘out of it for sooo long now’ LoL :weird:
ayatollah - I agree my friend, best to at least give other options a chance (with anything!) to see what they are/it is like?.
Just a couple of points: [quote]so if you wanna join the craic go to the server below! ET FTW!
It’ll more than likely be something I’ve overlooked & is easy or obvious but what’s ‘craic’ m8?
EDIT: Oh and add the tapir to your sig!
, what is the ‘tapir’ you mention?. Again my apolz as it’s prolly something really simple!.
Loffy- No I’m in Scotland mate lol, not being sarcastic in anyway!, but linux is used all over the world not just in Finland lol. I do like it as an OS though, it can be a real pita to setup & configure but once you have it the way you want it, it’s a good, stable OS that can run on most minimal of spec machines. Ideal for running servers whether it be for business or a home LAN?. With the latest releases of Mdk (Mandriva 10.1 & 10.2) theres more automated driver installation procedures so 9 times out of 10 your NVidia card will work ‘out of the box’. In previous releases it was/is a case of unpacking the driver files then you still had to edit a conf file in order to tell it it had a driver for the card, where it is & that it’s allowed to use it!!.
I think as Linux is becoming more popular & being installed on many more home user’s PCs, it’s also becoming easier for anyone migrating from Windoze much easier.
Higgins -
just pm me some time if you feel like having a game, maybe you might like to join up with my clan? Just let me know
I will do my friend, you can ‘show me round the maps’ etc,. Whats the deal with the muting thing on your svr mate?, I kept on being muted for 10secs, the only message that was displayed had most of the letters replaced with asterixes?.
Does <LOL> play any other games?, or is it ET:RtCW only?
Elder N - Cheers for the cfg guide my friend, as it’s based on the Q3 game engine will the following do for recording in-game demos?:
=========================
// Demo recording
set rec “vstr first_rec”
set first_rec “g_synchronousclients 1;wait;record;wait;g_synchronousclients 0;set rec vstr second_rec”
set second_rec “stoprecord; set rec vstr first_rec”
bind p “vstr rec”
=========================
And would the majority of my Q3 binds/scripts work for RtCW as well?, it would make life sooo much simpler if they did!, just things like an online rate changer fo example:
//Client-side rate control
echo “rate settings on F2 and keywords: dslow,vslow,slow,norm,fast,vfast,lfast and rates”
unbind “F2”
//
alias “dslow” “rate 2500;cl_updaterate 10;cl_cmdrate 10;ex_interp 0.100; bind F2 vslow;echo dead slow speed”
alias “vslow” “rate 3500;cl_updaterate 13;cl_cmdrate 13;ex_interp 0.077; bind F2 slow;echo very slow speed”
alias “slow” “rate 5000;cl_updaterate 15;cl_cmdrate 15;ex_interp 0.067; bind F2 norm;echo slow speed”
alias “norm” “rate 7500;cl_updaterate 20;cl_cmdrate 30;ex_interp 0.050; bind F2 fast;echo normal speed”
alias “fast” “rate 9999;cl_updaterate 30;cl_cmdrate 40;ex_interp 0.033; bind F2 vfast;echo fast speed”
alias “vfast” “rate 20000;cl_updaterate 60;cl_cmdrate 60;ex_interp 0.017; bind F2 lfast;echo blazing speed!”
alias “lfast” “rate 20000;cl_updaterate 100;cl_cmdrate 100;ex_interp 0.010;bind F2 dslow;echo LAN blazing speed!”
//
bind “F2” “slow”
alias “rates” “rate;cl_updaterate;cl_cmdrate;ex_interp”
=========================
The reason I wondered about the uncapping of the fps was purely to compare how well/fast the game runs in comparision to others, Q3 for example, for my netplay cfg it is capped.
My connection is 2Mb DSL and I usually ping anywhere between 20-50, my average is in the 30s but that’s not to say a 50 ping is bad to play on by any means!. Who can remember playing Q2DM/CTF with a 280 ping on 56k dial-up?
.
I’m off to stock up on somemore maps etc for ET.
Regards, Esskie
PS: So much for making this post shorter then huh?!
