What other use is there for my 1st post than to say hello!!..

Well that & talk about the up & coming Enimy Territory: Quake Wars!, it’s looking like it’s gonna be big, very big!.

Don’t laugh but, in a bid to try & find a demo of it at least I d/l’d QuakeWorld (2600-win32) DOH!!. Thankfully it’s not Quake Wars. I think it might have been the fact ‘QW’ are the initials of both? (that’s my excuse anyway & I’m sticking to it!).

QuakeWorld, I only d/l’d a couple of days ago & am still trying to configure the display settings but as I can’t see what I’m doing on any of the menus etc, I’m having a bit of bother.
Anyone in/near my location into getting a regular LAN party going btw?, I’m not too far from Edinburgh.

Btw, anyone hear about a possible release date for Quake Wars?, if it’s anything like Quake 4, it’ll be

sometime during the summer
for about 3yrs!

Some time late this year, I think I read about it some where. They said it was being released after christmas 2005 but, theres been no sign of it.

Only thing I heard is comming 2006, but as usual with id: “when it’s done”. Never heard them saying after x-mas 2005 though.

says we’re gonna have to wait a wee while yet before those damned Strogg launch their attack on planet Earth. Tbh though, theres plenty to be getting on with atm with HL2, Doom3, Quake4 etc, & all the mods.

Doesn’t it look just beautifull in the trailers & gameplay movies though?!?!.

What are you guys into playing online atm?

Having been a dedicated gamer (some might say hardcore?) for a good few years now, since before HL was released anyway, I’ve recently got back into online gaming almost as much as I used to be you’ll appreciate there’s a lot of things I’ve just simply lost touch with ya know?.

Before I registered on this board I did see the d/l page with RtCW:ET & CS/Q3,Q3F maps etc, but just took it to be a mod for RtCW but I see ‘full game’ in reference to it. So do I need to dig out my Wolfenstein disc then?.

What exactly is RtCW:ET, a mod or TC (total conversion) or neither?!. Whatever it is, if it uses the RtCW/Q3 game engine then I imagine the graphics will be ok?.

Also, as I’ve now got it d/l’ing, I spotted something concerning patches & mods saying that a lot of the mods don’t like patched games (or is it the otherway round?).

Oh!, is the RtCW:ET Enhancment Pack worthwhile d/l’ing & what, if any?, patch/patches should I be after?.

PS: You folks run a game ladder on Splash Damage at all?, I used to play for a Q2DM/CTF clan called Apocalypse [APC] but that was back on the BarrysWorld game ladders/game servers.

You’ll want to get either id’s GLQuake or an unofficial engine modification( ie. Darkplaces. ).

It was going to be an expansion pack for RTCW, but it wasn’t getting finished. So Activision decided to release the MP portion of it as a free, stand alone ( don’t need RTCW ) download.

I’d say graphics are a step or two up from RTCW.

You’ll want the latest patch, and most servers run the mod ETPro( It should d/l pro automatically if you join a server running it. ).

I havent been to any etpro servers at all, all ive seen are etpub servers really. My server is etpub, try it out ifyou like Esskie, but no one plays on it :(.

get the basic game (ver 2.55) and the 2.60 update/patch, you could also check out our little fan site at www.enemy-territory.com
we also run a server with just original maps and etpro

Ok I’ve got the prog down, I’ll just nip off & get the 2.60 patch.

Higgins - I just pinged your svr & I’m averaging a 30 ping using the ping cmd so I’ll pay it a visit as soon as I get things sorted out. Do you have v.2.60?, if it updates when I join a svr?, it’ll just update from there won’t it?.

I notice there’s a fps limiter in action in the config somewhere, I’m maxxing at 90 solid, what’s the cmd to unlimit it?. I just wanna see how well it’s running on my puter.

After trying /cg_drawfps 1 etc, I noticed there’s an option in the setup options, I can see me havimg a delve into the cfg l8r lol.

PS: I joined 1 of the Jolt svrs and it d/l’d a file called etpro-3_2_5.pk3, is this what you mentioned earlier?

Yes ETPRO is what a lot of server run atm. ‘com_maxfps 333’ I believe is the command. 333 being your cap though you can set that to what you like. as et is running the quake engine there are a few set numbers that get you better speed for strafejumping etc. not sure what they are exactly but 40something,76, 125 and 333 are good numbers to cap at.
