I have two comps in my house, both are decent computers and should run enemy teritory no problems. On the one I currently use, I get really bad fps, dropping to about 12 on railgun, radar. On the other computer I get great fps but every second or two it jerks, like some kind of strange lag which makes it impossible to play. Makes me sweat when trying to jump over my own teams mines! I love this game and desperately want to play it to full effect with my clan, but these issues are not helping
does anyone have any suggestions?!?!
HELP ME :(:(
Does the lag only occur ingame, and does it happen to be an nforce2 motherboard?
“Decent” isn’t very helpful… my 133MHz is decent too
What are your full system specs, including driver versions.
That’s exactly my point, you don’t know the use of the system.
my 133Mhz is functioning as a router and thus the 133MHz is decent.
So saying “my systems are decent” would be insufficient information
since we need the full system specs to help you out.
looks like he doesn’t want any help, shame tbh cos I think I was the one who directed him here (from a server he was on) to get advice
What I get and yup I have an nForce2 mobo. Tried 3 diff driver sets but instead I just adjusted and use it to my advantage. Ive found doing some jumps eg, Radar, Main Gate up the Wall. If I jump up even without correct settings and placement the lag kinda just jerks me up anyway…
my guess is he was trying to use it to play et since that was what his post was about. try running adaware or some other adware programs.
Look, the reason we ask for systems specs is this:
I have a friend who complained about ET lagging and also thought he had a decent system,
since he just bought a NEW gf4mx… for his PIII 500MHz… with 128MB of memory… and still trying to play on 1024*768… ohwell…you…can…atleast try
Of course I want help!
The problem is… I don’t know my system specs :> How could I find out? (without asking someone who knows). That strange lag does not only happen while I am actually playing and shooting people up, it happens on the title screen, in options, all the time when I have the game open.
One thing I do know is that they both have geoforce 5, but one is pci and one agp. Forgot which is which.
download something called “SiSoft Sandra” which will analyse your hardware and tell u practically everything you need to know
We need to know:-
Operating System
Motherboard
CPU
Memory (size & speed)
Graphics Card
Graphics Driver versions
Sound Card
And read up on some basic hardware/techy issues on webbys…
Always good to know what your using… its like driving a car without knowing its limits and capabilities. Or in my case, my bike till I cba getting me full license and drive legally.
You probably ment a Geforce FX, and you prolly forgot to install the correct drivers
http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_56.72 <-- For windows XP
http://www.nvidia.com/object/win9x_56.64 <-- For windows 98/ME
the easyest thing to do is rightclick MY COMPUTER in your start menu or on your desktop, then click properties. Type down the processor and memory information that it displays in the lower part. (only applies if you are using windows XP).
Ok, this is “Computer 1” On which I get reasonable FPS but that weird lag every second.

:>
I just tried installing the latest driver that you linked me to, chronicles. I still get the sucky lag
On railgun when I stand on the track switch and look down the tram line away from the depo yard i get about 86 fps on comp 1. If I do the same with comp 2 I get about 12 fps.
Computer 2 isn’t very good I’m afraid, so you won’t reach anything close to the FPS of computer 1. What you can do is try a different version of the GFX driver, and look for motherboard/chipset drivers. Other than that you’ll have to resort to tweaking ET for performance.
Reduce your resolution to 640*480 and set Video Quality to “Fastest” and see how much improvement you get.
The fps you get seems about right, i’m pretty sure the lag you get with comp 1 is a characteristic of some nforce2 chipsets and has no quick or definite fix. If it’s any consolation i suffer from it also
There’s lots of things that can cause it and the only thing i can recommend is Google and reading up threads like these:
