Help me.. Medics too strong

(Doc_A) #1

Can anyone suggest a way in the serve config to tweak down the medics
so that they are not as strong? We have too many noobs selecting medic
class and going hog wild because of their “bullet-spongability”.

Too many times you see clowns who can’t shoot straight suddenly become
nearly impossible to kill.

Now… now all you medics… don’t get up in a fuss. But anytime you panzer
a medic point blank and he simply floats around in the air like Peter Pan…
I think we have a problem. I saw someone write “I can become a lev 4
medic in the first map… but it takes me 5 maps to be lev 4 eng”…

My reply is no $#%!! That cause you take 60 rounds before you drop!!

Any ideas how to help would be appreciated. Career Medics need not
reply.

If they can’t shoot straight then they should be pretty easy to kill - or are they compensating for their aim being off to one side?

Seriously, don’t knock it. Medic is the only class that gives a bonus to other players just for being there (you get extra HP per medic on your team). And sooner or later they will start to realise that they can revive people too.

Lately I’ve noticed a near total lack of good medics in public play. Today I played three rounds and I was the only one playing medic. I was also the only decent engineer so I basically had to revive the whole team while completeing the objectives - it was an experience and we won 2 out of 3

Lots of medics is a good thing. Medics are the one class I don’t mind seeing a lot of. You should complain when your whole team decides covert ops is the best class. You should then cry when the entire covert ops team sits at the back door on battery all match while the axis laugh.

there are good medics, me for example (oh the modesty)… i usually play on ND80 servers, they seem to have decent players on

They shoot… they hide… they shoot … they hide and heal… etc…

Listen guy if you have some help great… if not then don’t waste my time.
I don’t care who’s a medic and whos not.

we had this discussion already… uh, how often ?? countless times. Just search through some of the older posts and you’ll probably find all our arguments pro and contra medics, the way it is, the way it could be, the way it should be, the secret of eternal life, etc.

The ‘search’ function is your friend

Great idea jackass… why didn’t I think of that…

Maybe because there was 1000 hits on medic and the various
combinations.

My sincere apologies that I wasnt the first to post the question…

You want some help - here it is: Lose the attitude and practice. Medics are not that much stronger than other classes. In a one on one firefight, they only have a very slight advantage. They are only able to heal themsevles if you don’t kill them. I’ve taken down many medics in firefights when I wasn’t a medic. Don’t go around saying a class is toos tring or people are idiots for being medics just because you can’t handle playing against them.

If you want everyone to be on even footing and the game to be boring shoot-shoot-die gameplay, go play quake 3. If you want tactical, team based play where one on one firefights are a dangerous thing to partake in and you should fight in groups, then play ET. It’s not a difficult decision to make.

Nah depending on which map and what you’re doing, you can get to level 4 in any of the classes…

Try sniping and blowing the ramp as axis covert on battery or panzering in goldrush… In those cases it usually takes under a full round to get 4 stars

Meds are pretty tough but I’ve gotten used to em by now…

well i must be an utter n00b then, ive never got to level four anything on the first map unless im playing agianst other fellow n00bs who politely stand still when i shoot them but i usually quit before i get to the end of a map so im never sure if i would reach level four or not.

(Ifurita) #10

you can up the medic recharge time or better, you can drop campaign mode and play stopwatch or objective mode

(SwordOfDamocles) #11

Sorry m8, I’m no server wizard so I can’t help you there,

I do feel what some of the others say is correct tho…that meds are not overly strong. They can whore all the XP but a good medic is hard to find in the sense that they actually heal the squad.

You can max out on anything in one map if there are enough people being “predictable”.

Once got lvl 4 l weapons + lvl 4 1st aid on radar.

Tries to get head through doorway

(Doc_A) #12

Excellent!

Ok I’ll check into slowing the recharge, but medics are still going to
take a panzer to the face (and survive) I assume??

Thanks for your suggestion Infuria.

You made my point exactly… thank you :drink:

When we reduce the spongability/whorability factor on medics… only true
medics will still want to play that class.

Result -> the people who are medics are BETTER MEDICS, not XP whores.

A good medic who plays medic to help the team isnt that strong since he will have packs or needle out most of the time, and since he will always be checking the compass for bodys as well as tracking the bodys on top, he has to have his eyes in 2 places at once, therefor there is alot of disadvantages for a medic what deserves to be called one.

The problem starts with the guys who go medic just to go RAMBO with it and arent even bothered with the duties hes supposed to perform.

(Ifurita) #15

Personally, I think that any med worth his/her salt is going to earn a lot of XP by just doing their job.

I’m typically upfront with the engineers reviving, killing, and healing. I earn tons of points from revives because that’s where people are doing the dying (duh!). I get in a fair number of kills (at least taking and giving damage), often times getting clean up kills from others, but I’m shooting back at defenders trying to stop the attack. Since I get kills and I tend to be more of a hit and run guy, I survive long enough to collect a lot of battle sense points

(damocles) #16

No class can survive that, so if you are seeing this you have cheaters on your server. Although I’m guessing you are just exaggerating to make a point.

(Ragnar_40k) #17

With shrubmod the Flak Jacket carries over. And a medic on adrenaline with a Flak Jacket can survive anything.

(Englander) #18

Thats why I think shrub mod is crap. The cross over makes it stupid.

(Doc_A) #19

Actually I have seen medics take panzer shots at their feet and survive.
I mean right at their feet. As you know most panzers will aim at the
players feet as it increases the possibility of a hit from the splash.

Usually these “supermedics” fly into the air in slow motion like they’re on
strings… Then they land and continue shooting you.

Its that kind of stuff I want to put an end to.

(Gambit) #20

well, sadly, you are not going to single handedly put an end to anything.

I strongly recommend you follow Iffy’s advice and play SW servers to reduce the problems you complain about.

In regular wolf, there was no XP point advantage, though medics were often valued over other player classes because they could heal and revive team players. However, pubbing in ET is either really good or really bad.

My advice: play on better servers, against better players (ones who know the objectives, class up to complete the objectives) and play stopwatch.

XP, in my opinion, is a nice concept on paper. however, unless you have a team that really understands the game, it becomes a personal XP fest. I may have a low XP score, but i am usually the one riding the tug, getting objective and riding it back. nope, not an uber medic with high XP, but my team just won when we fired the railgun. and i died 13 out of 13, but i rode that tug to and from the objective. oh well.

I really hope this sad fixation with XP dies really soon.
