I know this has nothing to do with enemy territory, but i was curious. How many of you are going to get Halo PC when it comes out? i am.
Halo PC
awesome
i already have it preordered
im only worried about one thing tho. i want to make levels for it when it comes out, but apparently you use 3ds max or gmax, and gmax looks like a hell of a hard program to learn, from the tuts ive seen anyways
Got the xbox version, I’m not sure whether I’ll bother with the PC. Depends what I’m feeling like at the time. If theres nothing else trying to wrench my money from my cold dead fingers then I might pick it up.
Xbox version is cool but no online multiplayer. So ill be getting the PC version too.
You can play the xbox version online using tunnel. I havent tried it myself but I know a lot of people play it online.
ive played thru tunnell, its way too slow, and i have a cable connection. halo pc is gonna be much better. and its going to have new levels once modders get the hang of it. its going to rock.
I’m not going to bother. The game is okay I guess, but nothing special. I was far from blown away by it. Looks nice and has some nice ideas, but it just didn’t do anything to grab me.
Played it on Xbox, dont much see the point in playing it again
and the online game will just take me away from ET so no!! take that dodgy supernova copy off my desk, i dont want it.

Yep. IMO it didnt live up to all the hype. It’s a pretty nice FPS as far as consoles go, but the PC market is spoilt for choice for FPS titles, and Halo is very mediocre compared to a lot of them. I don’t think the majority of PC gamers will be too impressed by it, especially considering the iminent releases of Doom 3 and HL2.
Yup, the first one really sets up the story for the game, and the second is the game itself which is really kewl esp. if you read it as you play through the game.

Well, Bungie has always excelled in creating an engrossing storyline to their games (shouts out to ydnar–any time for a quick insight into the “good old days?”). To really feel at home in the world of Halo, fire up your old Centris 660AV Macintosh and play Marathon, Marathon 2: Durandal and Marathon: Infinity. Then read anything from the Culture series of novels by Iain M. Banks (Consider Pflebas is a good place to start–it’s out of print, but if you troll the used bookstores hard enough you might get your hands on a copy). Then, of course, read Ringworld (and maybe even The Ringworld Engineers) by Larry Niven.
I really disagree with the above two posts. At the moment there is no FPS on the PC market that comes close to Halo as far as SINGLE PLAYER goes (i state this as my opinoin and not a fact by the way). Half Life is great but its also ancient and nothing else i can think of is as good as Halo. I really find it hard to believe that you two seroiusly consider Halo to be “okay” and “very mediocre” . If you persist in saying these things then im gonna pinch your pants the next time i see you online. So there

Most people will tell you that if you ask me nicely I’ll give them to you - no pinching required
I rented an XBox and Halo when it first came out and I think I played for about 20 hours straight that first session. Needless to say I WAS blown away by it. For me it was a awesome game. I will buy any game with the Halo title regardless of what anyone else seems to think about it.
I read the Ringworld books by Niven, were those the books you’re referring to djbob? If not, please post the titles, I’ve been wanting to read a good Sci-fi lately.
There are two Halo books to which i was refering, the first is “The Fall of Reach”, and the second is called “The Flood”.
I’ve read some of the ringworld stuff too, but never got heavily into it, that was some time ago now though, so i might try picking it up again. I have enjoyed some of Niven’s other work, esp. those in connection with Jerry Pournelle (sp?)
Thanks, I just put them both on hold down at the library. Any suggestion on which I should read first?
“The Fall of Reach” is the precursor to “The Flood”, so definately read it first
