Guns have no recoil?
The entire competitive scene is laughing at the video I posted here because of these ludicrous no recoil guns.
So, where do you come from where the entire competitive scene of… everything is laughing at the lack of recoil in the vid?
And who cares about the competitive scene, aside from the competitive scene?
lol, yet tehy all still have a competitve community - funny how that works…
I think you are confusing “dead” with either “old,” “not mainstream,” or “not insanely popular.”
There are many things positive about the game but I’m not going to talk about them because it’s futile and only serve the purpose of being socialable.
I want the developers to know that a little more gun recoil would be good for this game. Also, the number of shots it takes to kill someone looks quite ridiculous as well. Should be 1 or 2 shots less. What? Even medium armour are tanks.
lol what. Yeah , Quake 3 aka Quake Live now is clearly a dead game.
I always wonder how a dead game can be the most important competitive shooter besides CS tho. Seems kinda strange.

This seems to be a misunderstanding. It seems you have never played a SD game before and don’t know where they are coming from and what kind of games they produce.
SD games have never been like CS or CoD in regards to shots needed to kill or weapon recoil so please don’t compare BRINK to these games when they don’t have much to do with SD or BRINK.
That’s like saying “other games don’t have classes. Why does BRINK have classes, that’s just ridiculous”. Well, it’s just what SD games always had.

Wtf, it’s too easy to kill someone from what I’ve seen by now, in any case it should be more shots to kill. Look at TF2, the game has no recoil at all and the gameplay used to be balanced before introducing all the crap. There is absolutely no need for recoil.

Don’t compare Quake Live (no recoil) to Brink (no recoil).
Brink’s assault rifles need some recoil.
But Brink is NOT TF2 !! Brink is suppose to be more entertaining, more thrilling, and slightly more on the realistic end than a cartoon.
COME ON GUYS! Just a little recoil, just a tiny bit will do.
PLEASE?

When you earn a degree in game design, and spend countless hours testing and retesting the formula like Splash Damage has, maybe then you would be taken seriously. As of now, I’m sure the majority of the members here can see how ridiculous your claims are, and most of us are not even in the gaming industry.
You do know that not all games need to play the same, right? Do you really think after all the playtests, adding recoil or implementing less shots to kill just slipped the minds of the devs? They deliberately left them out to cater to a more arcadey playstyle.

Brilliant argument - you’ve convinced me…
Brink is aiming to be an arcadey type game, not a sim. I think spread is fine, there is no need for spread and recoil
Thats a good thing though it adds another element to firefights. If it takes 1-2 shots to kill someone then thats boring because everyone just camps everywhere and its whoever shoots first wins. In ET and ETQW you can get shot and still have the time to dodge and react and then shoot them. in ETQW and ET your ability to dodge well and to shoot well were both tested. You don’t speak for all compeition as well, I played comp in ET and ETQW and I think Recoil and 1-2 shot kills is bad. There is still comp in ET and QL btw. ET, ETQW and Brink are not realistic games, you want realism go play Arma II.
That’s it. You started with realism in video games. Now no one can take you seriously anymore
FYI, BRINK is a multiplayer shooter, made so people can have fun and also compete. It’s not a simulation so people can simulate how it would be in reality.

I’m not talking about the themes they have, I’m talking about the balanced gunplay. TF2 has no recoil and it (was) incredibly balanced.

You obviously know I wasn’t talking about making BRINK a sim. That’s just stupid.
Now, no spread + some recoil is better way than spread + no recoil.
At least this way, you can control the fate of your bullets = skill.
Maybe he is a troll from Crossfire.nu , testing if the WE:T veterans can trust the BRINK forum guys or if we are CoD followers
Is like the beginning of every bethsoft forum thread. They’re being paid to create video games. They know how to make a video game.
Some how every other new person on the forums has a cognitive bias that makes them think they know games better than anyone else and that they feel compelled to share this belief.
But that’s not realistic either. The idea is the gun is out of control. Predicting the recoil path isn’t the ultimate skill that makes boys into men. In reality (which I thought these games were going for) no one is rail accurate on full auto that’s why there’s burst fire.
You won’t be left out if you don’t get new game so don’t get Brink you have too much issue with it. I’ve never bought a Call of Duty game after 2 or any Battlefields. No one ever tells me I’m missing out when I share my stance on it. Casual gamers are shocked to find different opinions than the reviews or generic public and never have anything to say to convince me.
@ Auzner
Agreed on all of your points… It’s funny how people bitch and moan without having actually played the game yet. Has the game been released to the general public so that everyone can then give their 2 cents/opinion on how the game plays? NO.
So why not wait until you’ve had the chance to run several matches before you start complaining about “Skill” due to lack of Recoil on weapons?
I’m excited about what’s coming and glad that the splashdamage crew has put together another class-based game for us.
G…
Ultimately, no recoil at all is too extreme as well. You’ll regret it when you realise it is boring to shoot a gun that doesn’t kick at all and merely just sits there.
And I don’t even mean kick like a mule. As I said before, just a little recoil and a little spread will do. Something to make the gun feel alive.
But if you guys don’t want any recoil whatsoever then so be it. I’m just baffled that you guys don’t agree that some recoil would be nice. Whatever, your choice though.
