Guns have no recoil?

(ryryelectro) #1

I’m watching this new gameplay video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R5abtol8Tno&feature=youtu.be

… and I notice all the guns have no recoil !!! That’s something that is terribly bad, especially on PC. I hope this is only for consoles and PC players will get to play with guns that actually have some sort of recoil.

No recoil = no skill and no fun.

thanks ryry! thatll be all

(ryryelectro) #3

Please Splash Damage, put some recoil into the guns for PC.

We beg you. This is such a wonderful game, and it cannot be ruined by such a stupid feature!

(McKooza) #4

Well,
Consider this game is in final Alpha stages.
Splash Damage still have time to fix these minor bugs.

So correct me if I’m wrong, but this whole “no recoil = no skill” thingy has been discussed for quite some time now…

what do u mean we, your along here so far. i dont like recoil, skill=aiming and moving.

(Jess Alon) #7

ryry I challenge you to make one positive thread. Just one.

(McKooza) #8

Yeah come to think of it, Jess Alon is right, if you have so much bad things to say maybe you should departe this forum.

It’s an arcade shooter. Guns without recoil is fine. And your no recoil = no skill is a load of crap. Then you are saying games like ET, Quake and Team Fortress 2 require no skill.

(Jess Alon) #10

Well then you’d need to ask half the forum to leave. But at least some of them start threads that don’t complain about the game before it’s even out or before they’ve seen the final product. Or at least they ask pertinent questions TO the developers that result in everyone in getting some relevant information instead of having to endure your personal complaining about something you haven’t experienced. Ryry.

(McKooza) #11

Too right Jess!

(Snackycakes1) #12

pc, xbox, ps3

itll all play the same

(Shinjorai) #13

Ive played a ton of shooters in recent years theyve all had recoil, i honestly dont remember if my favorite game etqw had recoil or not, it seems liek it did, the fact that i really cant even remember attests to the fact i dont think it makes much of a difference either way. Id personally like to see it as it adds a little bit more to the overall experience but if they didnt add it, it wouldnt be a deal breaker for me. Im still gonna play the hell out this game until the wheels fall off.

(RAAAAAAAAAAGE) #14

Ha just so long as they dont add Killzone 2 recoil. Then nobody would ever use ADS.
To me recoil adds to the gameplay dependant on the game. Brink seems pretty CQC heavy so recoil probably not that big of a deal. And from that footage theres no way to know if the player(s) had an ability on that reduced recoil.

(Weapuh) #15

ETQW had spread, when you stopped firing your cross-hair would be in the same place i believe, which is way better than nub-equalizing recoil.

Yeah, no recoil is the very reason Quake sucks so much and everyone stopped playing it like one month after release… … just no skill involved in aiming with Quake weapons,…

So you are essentially saying you (or rather everyone) wouldn’t miss a shot if the weapons have no recoil since it requires no skill to use the weapons, right?

(BioSnark) #17

The non-auto rifles have recoil. You can see them in the footage and here’s a thread discussing them, among other things: http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23568

@thought police: hush.

Some tweaks splash damage is doing might sound meh, but I like the fact theyr making it anti camp cod ish style, with red outlines around enemys, no recoil and stuff, so its more about team work rather then camping and stuff, + similar to a fortress game.

(IceBrazuca) #19

I hope there’s a good amount of recoil at least more than Black Ops.

If not then go the Bad Company route where there is little recoil, but bullet spread gets bigger as you shoot.
I’m hoping for this as it makes burst fire essential at medium-long range.

(Auzner) #20

Yes. Spread takes just as much skill I think. You have to time your shooting for more accuracy rather than twitch your wrist around to compensate. I prefer a growing cone more than a moving cursor.

You don’t really have an argument, just an opinion that you think should affect all games. That’s all anyone can ever come up with these days. “But this OTHER game has THAT.” This is why there have been 30 Call of Duties, they’ve managed to train everyone to want the same thing over and over. Because you didn’t even think this through and persist, you’re trolling at this point.

Ryryelectro, no one is agreeing with you because you have no point. Learn to reason and argue. Cone/Recoil/Both still provide a bullet spread that doesn’t equate to 100% always hit whatever the center of the screen it. If you believe it makes it too easy to aim then how does that detract required skill from the game? You imply any noob then can easily target and hit someone. So that means any time you see an enemy they’re likely to be hitting you if they’re firing at you. You’re going to need to get better at avoiding them, aiming faster, or staying close to a medic. If you can aim for the head better than they can then your worries are negated. You do know the game has hitboxes, right? Aim at a small moving target on screen I would say does take more skill than a casual sit down regardless of the handling.

You really didn’t look at the whole picture. Games are not one-dimensional in what skill is required. Not seeing that still makes you a casual gamer. This is like the millionth thread where some kid thinks he knows everything about video games because he can spot the difference between another game and say that’s wrong.
