Grenade Binds

(MILFandCookies) #161
Ok, you clearly want your e-peen stroked, why not tell us your ETQW account? Also tell us why Brink should be made for you and everythign should be so complicated that only you can play it?

In case you haven’t noticed the world doesn’t revolve around you and most people would prefer less complicated in their control schemes.

Edit: Reread your post, noticed I’d missed the point. Having simple operations available for grenades in no way stops you from doing useless air railing. In fact it likely makes complicated things more possible by all the individual things being easier.
On the contrary, I dont need approval from you champ. But thanks for making me laugh.
Nonetheless you can lookup .swastika if you want… or the myriad of other aliases I have.

And in case you lack the comprehension skills, i’m quite aware that the world doesnt revolve around me. You asked me why complicated is better? [ie my opinion] And I clearly demonstrated that I dont care if something in the game is complicated by using an example that is far more complicated. That however does not imply that i expect the game to be made according to my needs and my needs only. Because if you took the liberty to see the results of the poll champ, I actually voted for the option that allows everyone to have their cake.

Seriously, out of your depth much?
In the gameplay options, let us choose if we want the grenade button to be held or toggled. To me this seems like a feasible way to cater to “weapon bankers” without having to rewrite loads of code.
So, who’s with me?
I’m absolutely fine with that.
Like chr1s said, it’s the ‘holding down’ part that might bother me.
But watching that vid again I honestly have doubts it will.
We’ll see… I’ll adjust to whatever.

oh ok so your comments about complexity and controls schemes weren’t actually supposed to mean anything they were just offtopic comments idly thrown into the thread about what you happen to like gotcha

next time you want to tell us about your feelings how about you try less ego huh
Said the random guy on the internet who likely enough hasn’t got the development of successful games under his belt.

Rahdo was correct. ETQW was not easily accessible although what measure SD took did improve things.
THANK GOD for the Auto-prime then, the holy grail for attracting noobs!

(Senethro) #165

Its one small step and has many other positive aspects as I have laboured at length to show you.

(Ryan) #166

I just want to be able to select the grenade and throw it with mouse1.
That’s all.

All I know is that I don’t want to compromise my left hand (for moving).
And I don’t like the fact that it instantly starts cooking as soon as I grab the grenade.

I just hope SD finds a way to implement this for the people who like it the same way as I do.

Peace,
Ryan

PS: the ui_showgun toggle is very cheap imo…
Togglin the mode of MOUSE1. Why can’t it just select the grenade then :\ meh

(Ryan) #167

No you didn’t.

You have given 0 arguments to why auto-prime is so good.

You say it’s noob friendly? In what way? By having them to learn how to rebind it to an appropriate key?
Why would pressing the G key be more friendly then pressing weaponbank 4?

How about we keep it in the right thread?

(H0RSE) #169

I think you are talking about “newbs” not “noobs.” Also, I view people who use the term “noob” the same I view little kids who curse when their parents aren’t around and they think it’s cool.

Newbs are just new players. We are encouraged to help them learn the ropes, and generally make the game more enjoyable for them.

Noobs aren’t necessarily new players. They can be veterans of a game. They are basically players that don’t grasp the concept of a game, play it incorrectly and blame everyone or everything else for their lack of skill.

I have no problem welcoming newbs to a game…which we will all be since it’s a new game.

Why would pressing the G key be more friendly then pressing weaponbank 4?

And would you stop throwing around the “G” key. You make it sound like it’s carved in stone that it has to be G…

I got a solution. How about we bind nades to voice commands? You have yell “naaaaaaaade” and the longer you yell, the longer you are priming it. Your hands are free, it’s faster because you don’t have to press any keys and its really easy for newbies to pick up. If you don’t like my idea then it means you like to stubbornly over complicate things.

(Nail) #171

meh, whatever, I’ll adapt. After all, real men die shooting, well before they think of nades.

(jazevec) #172

This may have been true years ago, but the terms have dilluted. This graph shows “noob” is simply replacing the term “newbie”. The masses neither know or care there was initially a difference. You are free to correct every single person who “misuses” the word, but you’d be arguing with facts.

http://www.google.com/trends?q=newbie%2C+noob%2C+newb

Senethro: you have particularly bad debating skills. Your posts are full of straw man, ad hominem, insults and other fallacies yet free of reason. You’re not worth talking with. Welcome to my ignore list. I encourage everyone to do the same. I’m considering a few other people, too.

lol, didn’t know computer slang was backed by “facts.” Good try though…

First off, that’s ridiculous, and second, it wold require optional hardware (mic) so it is LESS user friendly.

(Stroggafier) #175

When controls, displays, and other technicalities get in the way of game play, then its time for a change. Brink is definately headed in the right direction with its approach to simplifying movement and standardizing around the game controller.

(WhiteAden) #176

you walked straight into that mister… you must be blind cause you failed to see his sarcasm O_o

(brbrbr) #177

for same reasons, we don’t see player ingame character/avatar reacting to “****ing stroggs” whisper in chat, starting ****ing stroggs, without player interactions.
because its almost as embarasing as original sentence.

(3Suns) #178

Word.

(H0RSE) #179

No I saw it, and commented on it regardless.

(Ryan) #180

I thought we were talking about the KEYBOARD?!
