Stats are not by definition bad. It’s just that in most cases (games?) they don’t reflect your actual ability to help your team. If stats were to be implemented in a way that they actually highlight good teamplayers and are resistant to abuse, it would be cool.

Splash Damage people are intelligent, experienced, and funded well enough. I’d like to see what can they come up with. In the extreme scenario where stats turn out to be worthless or even harmful, I’ll play unranked servers only because people playing there will obviously not care about abusing stat system (other than K/D ratios).
And because running a ranked server will cost money, it’s guarranteed that there’ll be plenty of unranked servers, too.

Hey, you have to get bragging rights somewhere right? If some servers aren’t ranked, how can you brag about it?

All (or some?) xbox live games are ranked. The only game I play in xbox live is the 4 year old RTCW tides of war, and of the total players who play, my rank is a 5 to 6 digit number. Basically I’m not number 1, and I don’t care. My monthly rank is around ninety something, and my weekly rank is around 7 hundred something.

In BF, ranks only gives you medals and unlocks, which is why people want to increase their xp and rank.

In ETQW, I assume that the ranks only give people bragging rights like, I have a medal W00t. Then the medal is gone the next day. Or maybe the rank can be something like best fragger of the day, or best engineer/constructor of the week etc etc. I wouldn’t know, but I think that would be a good way to display ranks. Daily, weekly, monthly, annualy, and total. At least no one would be ashamed they don’t get any medals because they would have had it for the day.
