"Global" Defense Force

So I was looking through enemyterritory.com for about the billionth time and I finally noticed that the “Global” defense force doesn’t look very global. They all appear to be caucasian. I found this kind of odd/unimaginative to be honest. I’m surprised as I thought there were maps set all over the world. Still I doubt anyone pays any attention to model skins when aiming. I doubt there is much to be read into this other than the artist drew what they were comfortable with shading.

Seriously not trying to start a hate war here. Just noticed it was all.

PC RTCW had the most ethnic variety compared to ETQW. You couldn’t really see the skin color for the covert ops since he is covered from head to toe with clothing. You can just imagine what ethnic group he is.

We kinda already have this discussion dealing with the accents.

What we really need to know is all four tapir species (Baird, Malayan, Mountain and Brazilian Tapir) will be represented with correct skins.

Didnt bf2 also have black/white skins on the USMC models?

Yeah seriously I don’t see the point with all that posts about “Racism” in-game or whatever. I wouldnt care about anything if the whole team were asian or black seriously…

And yeah, up to date, I would whine really more about getting a good gameplay, teambalance than stupid things like the colors of the trees.

Edit : Yeah they are global, but thats not because they are global that Asians are now automatically in north america and vice versa. They are on one location and thats the GDF of that region. Sure, for some other map they are maybe somewhere else but anyway, they couldnt make different skins for each map.

Oh and I thinks about it, maybe you will be able to choose between different type of skins…

My point was less about being PC and more about Quake story. I would imagine if the world was attacked by aliens, then the citizens of the world would unite… especially considering the reality of stroggification. Like I said, I find it unimaginative and odd. Or maybe just plain lazy on the part of the artist.
And yes, even the GDF covie has the same skin color although there is very little showing.

Yes that proves he isn’t black, brown, red, nor yellow. I can see the neck area and the skin is white. This however also does not prove that he is Caucasian, which is what you said.

This will no doubt be taken the wrong way, but most of EU/NA/AU/NZ are “white” (Caucasian), and these comprise a large portion of the advanced world. The other advanced nations are primarily “yellow” (Asian). The areas which are typically “brown” (e.g., South America) and “black” (Africa) tend to be less advanced, although this is certainly changing, particularly in South Asia (e.g., India).

Colors are in quotes because I for one have never seen a black/brown/red/yellow/white person.

Just look at a world map and ask yourself which nations would most likely be major players against the Strogg. Now ask yourself what color those people would most likely be. It’s not racism, it’s a global reality.

This could explain the lily-whiteness of the GDF. On the other hand, perhaps they would take their ground forces from those less-advanced areas, in which case all the characters should be African/Hispanic…

Try to keep your shirts on, I’m well aware of the broad, sweeping generalizations I’ve made here. Personally, I’d like to see one of the GDF classes be Asian, for the reasons outlined above.

No way. I wouldnt unite with right-wingers, neo-nazi’s, Rave heads, skag-heads, pimps, gang-bangers and off course Noel Edmonds to name but a few.

It would make sense to have a multi-ethnic GDF but I dont really care tbh. I also wouldnt care if they were all another colour and no white men.

Why not make them rainbow-coloured? That might help to spice up the colour palette, and nobody can complain one colour is missing!

I have a more realistic theory. Given that the GDF are using fairly advanced weapons compared to present day weaponry. Weaponry tends to only get advanced during times of conflict and given the worlds current state of affairs I have come to the conclusion that in the time from now till the invasion of the strogg, America has continued its campaign of global bombardment against all middle eastern states. They then continue and attack North korea sparking China to run to the aid of the koreans creating a third world war. America by this stage being led by a black woman deputied by an austrian actor launches a pre-emptive nuclear strike on all countries that might possibly fight against them (including some american states) leaving only white people with american accents capable of fighting any form of war.
