I had a similar thought at first but three google searches and 5 minutes later I decided this was simplifying the matter. I think you are equating money and technology with the ability to fight. I disagree. When under attack one is going to fight the best the can, with whatever weapons they have. Just because a country doesn’t have cruise missiles doesn’t mean they can’t kill Strogg with RPGs. The GDF weapons are still just projectile weapons and except for the aircraft really don’t appear to be all that advanced.

Truth is, there are many factors which go into ranking military power as illustrated here:

This is the simplest ranking and I think you might be surprised about how the nations are ranked.

There is another ranking that breaks things up by region here:
Strategypage 2002-2003
This is slightly more in depth and breaks things down into factors like Budgetdollars/person and lists a sort of efficiency ranking (of which few countries break 55%).

If the “most powerful country” were to do most of the fighting, then according to the the US Department of Defense from 2001 roughly 2/3 would be “white” while the other 1/3 would be black or hispanic. And 1/5 would female. The US is of course not representative of all nations. It was just easy to find (ie top of the search results).

actually, the field ops would look ridiculous if he was black. Imagine a black face under a green visor. It just does not look cool. The covert ops OTOH should be black because he is covered from head to toe in dark colors and dark skin match perfectly.

It’s called fashion for a bunch of models. You want to look your best and not look fugly.

Having the model black or white is like wearing a black shirt or white shirt, it seems that all GDF are wearing white shirts. Models aren’t the same as RL people you know.

And to make it realistic, a black guy in the GDF must be accompanied with a black skinned strogg.

Besides it is more consistent to have all white skinned players anyway.

Stroggifying a black guy does not automatically make him white you know

Strogg are alien and pretend that GDF are humans in an alternate dimension so that you don’t have to worry about race or gender as being part of the GDF.

This is the quake universe and racial diversity only formed during quake 4, and gender diversity during quake 2. In that universe, humans could be evolved from tapirs for all I care.
