Hoping this fov fix goes live today
pleaseeee :stroggbanana:
FOV while sprinting, jumping, etc.
Registered to say this⦠While in general I think itās poor form to give snide answers like this Iāll overlook it this time. But you need a better excuse for this issue, because even if there are 1542 cvars, this is not some obscure minor side issue that only affects a handful of people. I, like Iām sure thousands of others, immediately got into the console and tried to figure out how to change FOV before doing anything else at all in-game. On a widescreen, 70 fov simply feels like Iām crawling around.
Really, I think you could make an argument that changing FOV is probably THE most important thing you can do in the console - I actually expected it to be in the menu configs since a lot of even console ports (bfbc2) will give us this courtesy. Anyway, whoever was in charge of making the console usable for players clearly had a failure here, and not because changing FOV is an edge use-case.
Edit to say, I donāt mean to be rude, I do really appreciate the quick response for a fix, and I hope this type of service continues⦠I do really like the game and I want it to succeed. I know release day can be tough, so Iām sorry to add to that. Cheers
Snide answers? I think you got the wrong end of the stickā¦
woot, that was me
well itās awesome it helped on getting the fov thing patched XD :stroggtapir:
Cant wait for this fix, I need a FOV of at least 90, to have a better battle awareness, and get more speed impressions.
Plus the weapons seem more different from the side and having a bigger FOV helps differenciate them.
Another couple potential FOV issues⦠maybe intended, maybe not
When using ironsights, the FOV always goes to a fixed value, instead of being relative to the normal FOV.
So if the ironsights FOV is 50 (just guessing), it will change by -20 if youāre using the default of 70, but it will change by -50 if youāre using g_fov 100. It would make more sense to me if it always changed by the same amount
Also, when using adjusted iron sights, which say it will no longer zoom in, it always goes to 70 when ironsighting. That means if you use fov 100, it will zoom in when it shouldnāt.
Yeah Iām waiting for the patch. So many times I slide tackle a guy then lose track of him because he falls out of my FoV.
Bump and a reply. Sorry, didnāt meant to offend you. I edited in a bit that said sorry to lash out, but I feel this issue should have been addressed sooner if PC gamers had been in mind. I donāt hold it against them though, I understand where the money mostly comes from, and Iām an adult who can be patient as fixes come.
That being said, any word on when this might make it in? After unlocking Light, it got a little better, but Iād still rather bump it up 10-20 to help remove the franticness of close quarters a bit.
Thanks SD, I do truly enjoy Brink and will be playing for a long time to come.
when is this going to be fixed this is ridiculous how can you release a pc game with a broken FOV??? until this is fixed the game is unplayable for me.
Itās not broken, they just need to tell us which cvarās to changeā¦patienceā¦
it is broken because if it is as easy as telling what cvars to change then weāre in more trouble then i thought.
when is this going to be fixed. day to of a rainy vacatoin when iād be rather on a beachā¦
First game played, set fov 100, ****ing rubberbanding visuals, change back to 70⦠OMG I almost puked, please please please SD fix this ASAP!
FOV should be set in options - in all games - always.
But hey, thanks for fixing this.
Question is, will SD wait with this patch until all the major fixes are done or will they release a small update? I played the campaign and loved it, the MP runs beautiful as well but the fov thing messes it up big time. warping between 110 and 70 is enormous
Bump
Doesnāt look like this made it into the first patch. Just wondering if we can get a response on when/how to fix this, it makes multiplayer pretty much unplayable for me

Myself and at least one other person in our clan get motionsick while playing the gaem at the default FoV, so for us the game is unplayable without changing it.
Right now weāre running around with it flipping from 70 back to 90 everytime we climb over something to jump or whatever, which is extremely disorienting and annoying, but itās the only way we can play.
I agree with others who have said itās pretty amazing this slipped through the cracks, I canāt believe any of the PC testers didnāt change their Fov to something I would consider ānormalā. But it is good to know the fix is (hopefully) around the corner, itās the only major issue Iām having with the game.
The thing that bugs me most is that some SD devs had 150+ hours of Brink gameplay on Steam, sure not all 150 hours were spent in multiplayer but I have seen a lot of them playing on online servers. How can noone notice that bug? Is everybody at SD playing with 70fov? I can hardly imagine that.
Hoping for a quick fix!
