FOV while sprinting, jumping, etc.

(BMXer) #1

I changed my FOV to 100 and it seems to work fine in offline modes.
As soon as I join an online server by FOV changes to about 70 only when I am spring, jumping, SMARTing. Its only at 100 when I shoot or walk.

It feels like crysis2.

IT IS TERRIBLY ANNOYING! Am I missing a cvar?

HELP!!!

(trollface) #2

Wow, talk about being brickwalled to the face with bad news in the morning. Can someone else with the game confirm this?

(BMXer) #3

Its happening to my teammate DonkeyDong also.

Works fine offline… go online and fov wonkeyness begins.

(Bullveyr) #4

QFT

10chars

Try to search the config files for entries that have “FOV” in them, maybe we can find whats causing this.
You could also try binding the relevant keys (sprint etc) to their function + FOV 100. That way they wont change fov every time you press them. I cant remember for sure but in ET i think you had to put an “;” between the commands in the config to have a key do multiple things.

(SockDog) #6

This explains why I didn’t get this. I’ve only been playing offline thus far.

(system) #7

Why???

(nhiverson) #8

Yeah gotta fix this gives you motion sickness and such. Not sure about anyone else but I dont really know where the config is located.

(system) #9

Try in My documents folder, look for a Bethesda or Splash Damage folder. I don’t have the game yet, I’m just guessing.

(Mattc0m) #10

I’ve noticed this, too. It sucks. Been forced to play at g_fov 70 until this is fixed (it CONSTANTLY is “zooming in” for a few brief seconds to g_fov 70 when sprinting, etc.)

(system) #11

I’d really like SD to respond to this. If this is intended and they will not change it to use whatever you want, I need to know to cancel my preorder.

(knippon) #12

I’m having the same issue as well. Perhaps it’s something that is done on the server side?

I saw that /kill was blocked as some sort of anti-cheat protection.

(SockDog) #13

Because I’ve only played SP thus far. I was confused that people were saying the FOV was changing when it wasn’t for me.

(nhiverson) #14

Didn’t find a config file in my documents for this or in the folder. Now in the steam userdata folder there is one config in local\base folder its called brinkconfig.cfg doesn’t seem like its a player config though.

(system) #15

Why would you play this game in singleplayer???

(Ragoo) #16

ARG SD fix this asap. Just saw this on some stream it’s f-ing horrible.

(BMXer) #17

im pretty sure thats it. I don’t see any other config files. It is strange that there are no binds in the config. Starts to smell of console port when I see this crap.

(system) #18

I just seen it in someone’s stream. It’ terrible. Hope they fix it, I can’t play it like this.

(channa) #19

ofc this game is a console port…
i dont care what sd say about having two seperate development teams etc but think of it from a business point of view, do you really think beth would have supported two development teams for one game?

can you imagine sd saying to beth that there want to make the game twice with two different teams, beth would have luaghed in there face and said why would we waste our money doing that when you can make the game once and port it.

it just makes no sense at all why the game would be made seperatly for pc due to pc being a tiny amount of the customer base and if you read earlier interviews about this carefully you will actually relise that sd have said it is a port but i cant be arsed to look for an interview atm.

i havent played the game yet due to being eu and i will get the game regardless to what i read or hear but it is disappointing to read stuff like this due to all the promises that pc gamers would be getting everything we are used to and expect.

ps sorry for the grammer i was in a rush

(Humate) #20

Oh dear, sky is falling.

Ok now I got that out the way… seriously, wtf you cant change your FOV?
