FOV while sprinting, jumping, etc.
Oh dear, sky is falling.

Ok now I got that out the way… seriously, wtf you cant change your FOV?
You can change it, but it goes back to default when you sprint, jump, whataever. So there is a constant zooming in and out while you play. Very annoying.

(DonkeyDong) #22
 • for console
 • for config (when it works)

but

 • for fov zoom issue (reminds me of crysis it had 3 fov settings, zoom, zoom_sprint, zoom_something_else)… so maybe we’re missing 2more or they fail? (bug in multiple only)
 • for singplayer challenge or coop not letting any of us play. tried joining off steam, by ip, and issues. anyone get that to work? guess i’ll go to sleep… no sense playin

(system) #23

I asked a guy on a stream to try g_fov and tab, but it doesn’t show other g_fov settings. Also with zoom, it autocompletes zoomcommand something, but no zoom_sprint

(General Wolfens) #24

How is it possible to overlook such a bug? don’t think this was an intention.

(Bridger) #25

Testers probably don’t change their fov level. Though I’ve never liked FOV 70 and I wondered why anybody did. 80 is the minimum for me where I don’t get a headache. Didn’t all games used to be 90? How did we get to 70?

(system) #26

Why are they called testers then? Just to look at the install process?

(Bridger) #27

IDK, maybe they consider fov an advanced feature.

(ClickClickBOOM) #28

did anyone try binding g_fov to sprint and jump key as a temorariy fix?

(Bezzy) #29
I changed my FOV to 100 and it seems to work fine in offline modes.
As soon as I join an online server by FOV changes to about 70 only when I am spring, jumping, SMARTing. Its only at 100 when I shoot or walk.

It feels like crysis2.

IT IS TERRIBLY ANNOYING! Am I missing a cvar?

HELP!!!
Try setting g_sprintburstfov (iirc) to the same value as your g_fov.

Had to implement a whole underlying state machine for freedom of movement, and one of the things we played with was fov behaviour per state.

Edit:

In the console, type pm_sprintfov 0

(Ketchy) #30

Someone over at the steam forum just posted commands and cvar list http://pastebin.com/D94Mvivn and http://pastebin.com/KAz7VyyY one of the commands is pm_sprintfov could this be the problem ? i dont have the game (uk) so can’t test

(Bezzy) #31

Oh yes, it’s pm_sprintfov now… dann changed it a while back.

[edit]

OH! It’s a networked CVAR when it shouldn’t be.

Dann is working on this issue, THIS VERY SECOND. Went upstairs and he was already on it. Next patch, I am guessing.

(ceya) #32

doesnt work…said that its set by network and cannot be changed by multiplayer client

(Humate) #33

g_aimAssist is my favourite command! massive cough

(BMXer) #34

yep, I tried that one already. Must be server side. I can’t change it either.

(ClickClickBOOM) #35

When can we count on the next update? I dont want to wait 2 weeks!

(Bezzy) #36

It probably won’t help/hinder you either way on PC.

(Angrim) #37

Not sure what that is supposed to mean. I sure hope it does not work at all on PC.

No offense but how could stuff like this happen? “Forgetting” that sprinting/smart fov is handled by a different cvar? That sounds really strange if you think about it.

Thanks a lot for all the communication though. It is always nice to know devs are aware about an issue and working on it.

Actually, whoever set it as a network var was drunk when he set it.

(SRS-Kap) #39

Hi all,

This issue has been addressed and will be with you via an update very shortly.

Once you recieve the update, the cvar for changing fov is now ‘ui_fov’ rather than the previous ‘g_fov’.

On a side note, there is no aim assist on the PC version at all.

(Squeesher) #40

Just a quick note to anyone trying to set the pm_sprintfov and/or pm_sprintburstfov manually for singleplayer either in console or using an autoexec.cfg: the values seem to be setup differently than the overall g_fov value (they default to “0.0”) so setting them to the same value as you set g_fov to isn’t recommended. Whenever I sprinted with them set to 95 like my g_fov it looked like I hit warp 9 :stuck_out_tongue:
