Flame Thrower in ETQW

(SquareDonut) #21

So far, no flamethrowers… I spent three days at E3 and everyday, I stopped by the ETQW booth to try the game out. I was able to try out all the classes on both sides, including the vechicles. However, it seems that the flamerthrower is not available on the GDF soldier class or the Strogg Aggressor class. Either is it found on the vechicles or the deployables. Keep in mind the game is still in it’s early stages and the flamethrower might be including in the game later (Hopefully).

Mounted flamethrowers have more ammo and a range up to 50 meters with their flamethrower (shooting single bursts in an arc). They would be useful to clear trenches, bunkers or fortified postions from the relativly safety of a tank.

A little thread about rating and censorship in germany:
[et:qw]: International Version + german (censored) version?

And as far as I remember a flamethrower within a game is a reason to rate it automatically “over 18”.

So this may also be a reason to not include a flamethrower.
If a game is rated “over 18” here in germany it isn’t available anymore in the big electronic shops.

I seriously hope the developers aren’t basing the reasons to include or remove weapons on their game by stuff like that.

What’s next, remove guns and replace it for nerf weapons and slingshots just to get a kid rating?

I say that they make a flamethrower that throws explosive-knives as well.

…they can call it, “the flame thrower that throws knives but it burns more than it cuts”
and if it’s on a vehicle “the flame thrower that throws knives but it burns more than it cuts mobile unit”.

…I dare anyone to make a lamer post than this one. :stuck_out_tongue:

Dude, hate the game, don’t hate the playa.
Flamethrowers are awesome fun. Especially in inexperienced hands.

I must admit, spraying the sky after being shot out of the cannon on Northpole is a hell of a lot of fun

I dont hate the playa, i hate the weapon. It ok to mess around with but it is largely uneffective tbh with some exceptions.

What if the flamethrower shot scolding custard instead. That would get around the 18 certificate!

(AnarchyAngel) #32

I use it all the time with great success, its obviously how “skilled” you are with it. Maybe you just need practice Gringo?

(EB) #33

Sometimes I can stand directly in the flamethower path and not be burned, sometimes I only need to see it 15 feet away to be hurt/set on fire.

yeah you know you want it Gringo!

I’ve just find this (Link in the news of Planet Quake):
Ignited Plasma Thrower
A “flametrower” mof for Q4.

Flamerthrower histortically is more of a WWI/WWII, you never see it used anymore. In ET it was only effective in a few specific applications. ET:QW is susposed to feature huge maps. The flamethrower really won’t thrive in that environment. Is it really worth including a weapon just for the cool factor? Especially if that weapon only gets used while goofing off.

(Ragnar_40k) #38

Its used in the 40th millenium.

(AnarchyAngel) #39

Yeah this is true. Maybe Splash Damage can come up with a 2060 counter part?

No, not really true. They used flame-throwers a bunch in Vietnam.
