I was playing a game of W:ET the other day with my flamy friend (Flame Thrower) and it struck me that this might not be in ET QW? Can anyone tell me if this is so? I wanna smell that strogg BURN!!!
Flame Thrower in ETQW
Lol! I was just about to ask the same question! Damn, you beat me to it…but heck yeah! I was hoping that the flamer would make a cameo in QW…Or how about a pony with flamer?
I prefer an XL toaster with a grill addon.
But an oversized lighter could do too, as long as it doesn’t run out of gas quickly.
[Serious now]
The flamer is good in closed quarters, but I doubt if it will still be usable more open fields like ET:QW seems to offer. With a range of aprox. 3-4 meters, an enemy will probably kill you faster then you can light his trousers.
I’ll say this before BongoBoy does… Tapir’s Toting Flame Throwers!
…and as for open spaces W:ET wasn’t all corridors. Plus there are indoor areas. Just make it shoot further and maybe it has a building in gun as well (combo like) like there was in aliens.
Flamethrowers can be VERY effective in ET:QW. You just need to put them on vehicles, for example on strogg buggy equivalent, or even or hornet for dragon-like experience
Lol @ the Thought of a Quad Bike flamer, or even Jet pack Flamer. Sweet you gotta put the flamers in if they aint already!
being a profficient flamer in ET is one of the most fun times you can have.
and god, how i hate good flamers on other teams.

Well, of course the soldat may equip it only when he needs to. Even if QW maps are huge, I hope there will be some indoors fighting situation to use it in. It would be sad if they didn’t put the flamethrower in the game, it is probably the best good-looking weapon in W:ET, not to mention that feeling of satisfaction provided by roasting a couple of enemies as soon as they enter the door
Mount it on a vehicle and you got an Auto Assault FPS equivalent. Oh I can’t wait for the game AND a racing - destruction derby - mod.
The mounted flamethrower could be also useful to create temporary firewalls, I remember seeing such a unit in C&C Generals (the Dragon Tank, was it?)
Lastly, I don’t know ifthis pageis yet to be updated or what, but a flamethrower doesn’t show in the list. Too bad…
Yep, that was the Dragon Tank. Interestingly enough, in Generals, nobody ever uses standard attack mode with the dragon tank, because whipping up a firewall does tons more damage over a much larger area. No real relevance to anything, but I thought I would mention it anyway.
firwall was good in generals since things had limited range but in ETQW im pretty sure your tank would just get blown before they even got near your flames and all thoes fire tris might not be health on the fps side of things with the already harsh performace rates
I can’t resist the urge to point out such ‘balance’ and expert design is typical for games published by EA.
Thats because only the original C&C was good. All the new ones suck, mass tank rushing is unstoppable. They should have just stuck with good 'ol GDI vs NOD
I refuse to buy ET:QW if there is no flamethrower type weapon! :eek2:
I wouldn’t put it this way. Admitedly, I mostly played earlier C&C on single player only, as my brother wouldn’t let me anywhere near the modem. So it was mostly single player or 1v1 against my brother only. And I wasn’t as experienced rts player as I am now.
We starting playing online once we had semi-decent broadband; this means RA2, Generals, Emperor… Not exactly C&C games, but pretty close.
I don’t like that starting with Generals the games become much more War/Star-craftish. Whatever was unique in C&C serries it’s now gone. Especially resource gathering, the way factories work, building stuff; you now have to hunt for factories or hotkey them.
The main problem is that EA doesn’t care about balance and fixing stuff, they just want to sell new games as fast as possible. Fire&Forget.
