First impression feedback

(Mustang) #41

I think ADS actually removes spread and increases recoil, not 100% sure though because I rarely use it.

(Protekt1) #42

It probably appears as a recoil increase but its due to the FOV change when you ADS on your primary.

(Hundopercent) #43

Honestly, I wouldn’t mind more recoil for less spread. At least recoil is a controllable variable.

(Hundopercent) #44

Negative according to the hitbox screenshots all hitboxes match the model giving female chars a slight advantage.

(Kendle) #45

Urban Terror has male / female characters, and despite the Devs stating the hitboxes are the same everyone uses female characters in matches, just in case.

In DB however I guess you’d play for what the load-out provides rather than the gender of the character. I’d rather be a male Medic with an SMG than a female Medic with a Shotgun for example, having a slightly smaller hitbox means jack if you can’t use the damn gun! :frowning:

True but it doesn’t change that they’re a bitch and a half to hit.

(rand0m) #47

Which is 100% absurd. Firewall increased the ‘weight’ of their females to fix that issue, same needs to be done here. There should be NO advtage per character, hit boxes need to be the same.

(Kendle) #48

^ or HP tweaked? The Solider has a bigger hitbox (presumably?) but has more health, maybe the female character should have 90-95 HP instead of 100 to compensate for the smaller hitbox?

(DB Genome editor) #49

So far all the female mercs are stuck with crummy guns (shoties and semi sniper), maybe that’s how the smaller hit box is meant to be compensated for (or at least part of it)? Of course that idea might fall appart when Engie03 (male with a shotie) and the next female mercs get introduced (GL + AR for Soldier03, SMG for Medic04)…:o

To me hitbox sizes are just one more variable that can be used to balance characters with respect to each other.

(BomBaKlaK) #50

yep that’s my point of view ! Each characters need the same hitboxes

(Protekt1) #51

Unless they changed them, these are the hit box pics the devs gave us a while back

So it seems to me the main difference is the height while standing up (no pics of crouching or jumping etc).

The hitboxes themselves all appear to be about the same. Maybe they changed them since then cause its from a really old thread.

(tokamak) #52

Or, crazy idea, each character has the right kind of hp based on class role and performance rather than trying to level everything according to an equal hp/hitbox ratio.

(Protekt1) #53

I think the hitbox would just be one factor amongst many when considering balance.

(tokamak) #54

Exactemundo.

(Mustang) #55

You were right.

I just tested and whilst ironsighted recoil is the same for assault 2nd weapon, medic and engineer. There is a slight reduction for machine pistol. Fire support has a pretty nice amount of reduction. But assault 1st weapon has a massive reduction.

(viruzz.) #56

Well I currently unbinded it and im not using it at all and seem to do a lot better. It’s just one of the things that buggs me though, why implement a feature that actually has no visible benifits for players to use it? That’s why i’m wondering why it’s in. I loved the gameplay of W:ET without the ADS and in DB the ADS isn’t giving an actual advantage over hipfire.

(Bangtastic) #57

harharrrrr im back for terror:

give the guns more spirit, character, more satisfaction/reward(in no terms of achievements or points)^^
if spam can be reduced, ads will have its role, atm it hasnt; hipfire easier/more comfortable to aim precisely

that high ROF stuff makes not much sense since it is not fast paced enough, its speed equals CoD. There can be spray guns as smg’s, minigun etc. but not every weapon. assault rifles, carbines shouldnt do that. I change only weapon cause I change the class; but the difference between types is too less;
it feels like they belong all to smg’s^^

ads while moving feels weird because of the movement cycles? idk but it does

fops is still better than assault

(Protekt1) #58

ADS is actually quite good at long range. At medium range its less viable.

You’re not the first to wonder why its there. But I’ve gotten quite good use out of it personally. Its also better for certain weapons than others. The Engie smg or ar or whatever that thing is has inaccurate ADS. But the field ops ADS on both weapons seem pin point accurate with no spread build and low recoil.

(Mustang) #59

Otherwise known as balanced

It’s there for choice to cater for different playstyles and is essential that it’s not a must use feature.

Too be honest that’s bull**** (no hard feelings).
It’s in the game for a reason, it ain’t balanced if hipfire is almost just as accurate as ADS on long range battles. It doesn’t differentiate playstyles, how does it do that?

The most logical reason to use ADS is to keep the weapon steadier and easier control recoil over long range distances for example. Though that’s not what the ADS is doing currently… it’s only there as a placeholder, the actual advantage of using it in long range battles isn’t there. Obviously ADS should have advantages over hipfire on long range battles yet slack in CQB. Why would someone use the ADS if it’s only there to differentiate playstyles? It only falls behind vs. hipfire at the moment, and that can’t be the actual reason for Splash Damage to put it into the game.
