[Feature Request] Report for Harasment/Unsportsmanlike conduct

Problem is people are overly sensitive.

I tell someone to stop fucking around and get on the point, they call me an asshole.

Well if the shoe fits, maybe you should stop screwing around and actually help me, you jerks.
I can’t believe players like you think that one’s improper actions justifies your improper actions and no it doesn’t work that way and it causes even more problems.

Do NOT insult people in game, period. I don’t care what they did or did not do. There is absolutely no excuse to insult other people. You will NEVER find a legitimate case in which insulting has helped promote good player behavior, it won’t it will only make it worse.

Instead of telling people “Stop ****ing around” which to some can be offensive and or demeaning, tell them “Focus the objective”.

A general rule of thumb is that if you wouldn’t say it to your parents (or someone of authority you respect) don’t say it to them.

It’s not that hard.
That behavior has been around since the internet was born. People are comfortably shielded by their computers. Of course people are gonna insult other people because there’s nothing they can do about it lmao.

Don’t be so sensitive… Just shrug it off. I mean I wouldn’t mind having the option to report people for harassment but to tell people to stop doing that is kinda dumb. That’s never going to happen. It’s the world of the internet and games. It’s been around since the beginning of time. 'Specially in a game like Dirty Bomb where it tries it’s best to piss you off in every way possible. People are going to get irritated and insult each other. It’s up to you to decide whether you take it personally or not.

(asparagusMist) #62

just dont be hurt by words and play. banning people and suspension in a fps game. get ready for a empty server list if you ever deploy this.

Boom.

Ok I have to admit this was hilarious, but I’d like to point out the difference between real life in a trivial scenario and video gaming where you are on a team and need to be cooperative.

Sorry but, in any system that requires communication and cooperation, insults don’t help, or ATLEAST help efficiently.

I never said behavior like this didn’t exist and this not about players being “sensitive”.
It’s about not saying things ingame that’s going to promote bad behavior. People think it’s ok to do it when they are behind and computer screen, which is completely not true.

I highly doubt you would say the things you say to your teammates in dirty bomb in a real life team sport. Nor will you see it be done in any professional games.

^So it’s okay to harass someone in real life as motivation about an actual real-life issue (serious obesity) but it’s way too harsh IN A VIDEO GAME?

Use your brain man!

What that dudes friend did was not ok. It worked? Great! However in the majority of situations, it won’t work and will just make that persons life even more miserable. See the recent YouTube madness about fat shaming.

(Jurmabones) #66

People can join games, play like garbage, not care about the actual goals, objectives and rules of the game, and that’s all perfectly fine somehow. But god forbid anyone tell such players that they’re bad or suggest how to play better. Why does everyone act like noobs are some poor, defenseless, endangered species that needs to be embraced and loved and protected by the entire world?

If someone’s life becomes “miserable” because they were called a noob on a video game, or got yelled at by a teammate, or smack-talked by an opponent, etc., they seriously need thicker skin and to get the hell outside.

What if they get fired from a job? Get into a car accident? Misplace their wallet? Get divorced? Pulled over by a cop and given a ticket? Slip on a wet sidewalk and sprain their ankle? Do you think there’s some horde of misguided people waiting to jump to their defense and beg for some JUSTICE against the people inflicting all this MISERY on them? NO!

But as long as people can’t call them names on the internet! That’s just WRONG!

Totally agreed! I remember two years ago I heard someone my friend knew commited suicide after being insulted and shamed :disappointed:

Anyway, why would someone want to insult others, is there any pleasure in insulting others?

(MissMurder) #68

Thanks for the feedback on this. Report a Player is still new so don’t think that it’s in it’s final iteration or anything. Of course if someone is acting totally heinous we do NOT condone it.

(AnimeDude) #69

No. This is a video game, one of the main parts of an online game is $*@# talking. If there was a ban wave for CSGO that banned every player that ever talked *%&#, bam, there goes half the playerbase, it’s the fun of it, stop taking what people say over the internet personally.

(Feley) #70

Well I would rather play with 5 good nice people than 500000 rude ones… Of course, I don’t want player base to be reduced, but I would defenitely want to play with nice people rather than “[insert name] is a noob” people…

(Jurmabones) #71

And there’s also the issue of what even constitutes shit talk. There’s no clean way to define shit talk and what is precisely acceptable behavior on the internet.

Everyone has different opinions and levels of tolerance. I could get “harassed” all day on voice chat while playing Dirty Bomb and couldn’t care less.

To me it makes more sense for overly sensitive people to leave what they deem a hostile environment rather than complain and demand that everything around them changes to accommodate their individual wishes.

(RyePanda) #72

Just because it is a part of an online game doesn’t mean it is a good or necessary part. I’m fine with some trash talk, but I think this game has some golden rule “Don’t be a d*ck”. There’s a key difference between trash talk and harassment. Trash talk is fine, I don’t mind some bragging or t-bagging. Harassment is when it becomes a personal attack intended to harm or make miserable. Instead of trying to force people into an environment they don’t like, why not try to make the environment better?

“Stfu neverplayfaggot” quote of the day xD

(RyePanda) #75

@WaifuSquad There is for voice chat, but not text chat.

I wasn’t talking about someone on the internet becoming miserable because they got called a noob. I was referring to the real life event where a supposed “friend” called the guy a fat fuck every day for 6 weeks. I wouldn’t say he’s a very good friend. Sure you can be worried about your friends obesity and talk to him about it, try to motivate him for a better life style. But sending a message with “fat fuck” is a shitty way of going about it.

And I’m not saying you shouldn’t teach players to become better at the game. But I don’t see how insulting people is helping. WTF are someone gonna do with “You suck! Fucking noob!”? It’s not constructive, it’s just childish. Nothing wrong with offering constructive criticism, but how about doing it in a civilized manner?

And banter among friends is different, I can also take and give abuse on team speak, but I don’t do that to strangers, cause I’m not an asshole.

(D'@athi) #77

As this game promotes violence of some sort, can we please also get an option to report the under-12-year-old-ones, violencing us with their voices, and their blabla?

Insulting someone and suggesting a better play are two different things.
It is not your god given right to insult people because you are on the internet.

(Jurmabones) #79

It isn’t anyone’s god-given right to be a terrible player and make every match unfun and pointless for their teammates, either, but you don’t see me saying people shouldn’t be allowed to play Dirty Bomb just because they’re bad.

(MissMurder) #80

@WaifuSquad There is a big difference between talking smack playfully or even in small amounts as opposed to making threats or being racist etc etc.
