[Feature Request] Report for Harasment/Unsportsmanlike conduct

Noob! You call that a troll? Go back to 4chan and learn to troll like a pro.

Sorry, just kidding…

Well if the shoe fits, maybe you should stop screwing around and actually help me, you jerks.
Can’t agree more with this. People are arrogant, oversensitive and respectless.
“He called me a noob! This level 9000 elitist scum! How dare he to say me, a special snowflake, what I have to do? I’m a medic, and if I want to defuse, I defuse and if this engi ass comes near the C4, I will report his lousy elitist pro ass for harrassing and triggerring me! And then I will make a blog about Fletcher being Sexist to Auras! He think I can’t defuse the C4 because I’m a woman! What a swine!”

I remember a noob calling my team noobs and when he needed to be revived and I was a medic I just teabagged him with charged defibs and walked away.
10/10 would be a dick again

(Feley) #44

I don’t like smartases who are writing “noob team” “ez” “[insert name] noob”
I don’t actually know if someone is noob or not judging by one single game I played with him, but for sure I can recognize a jerk and smartas
who probably carried first time in his life that is writing stuff above…

This really gets on my nerve… And I don’t think when people call me hacker or noob, but people who are insulting anyone… (btw. you can insult someone by telling them they suck at something, and noob in this case means just that)

EDIT: Calling someone a noob doesn’t make you pro… And really if someone is noob, and you think it isn’t insult to call him a noob, than he most likely knows he is a noob, and he doesn’t need your opinion and approval in chat…

(RyePanda) #45

When I see a player not doing something (like a medic not reviving or engi not doing objective) I just ask them politely to do [it] in chat. It’s about helping them get better.

(vanqu1sh) #46

I think if the “report unskilled player” thing is to be implemented, it should be implemented in a way whereby the whole team need to report him in order for it to have an effect. I can see too many situations where a medic doesn’t revive someone and is then at risk of being reported as a result.

I would like it to be implemented in some way though. I have no problem playing with people who are of a somewhat lower skill than the rest of the team, because they are trying to do their best and that deserves respect. What I have a problem with is when people are extremely bad (I played with a guy who had 400 hours and went 3/43 as fletcher on chapel, like wtf) or people with literally no gamesense whatsoever (thinking of those level 5-6 vassili’s that stand in one corner of the map, barely able to pitch a scope properly let alone aim, whilst simultaneously not contributing to the team whatsoever). That completely ruins any slight fun I may have found in the game, and makes it pointless to play out until the end. A 4v5 is never winnable against 5 decent opponents.

(Jan S.) #47

Compared to csgo for example, DB community isnt toxic at all.

([WAR]Myks) #48
Harrassment and unsportsman conduct are highly subjective imo. Is it harrassment if someone calls you a noob if you’re a noob? Not really, but you will report him anyway. And unsportsmanship. What is it? Not reviving a teammate? Yup, people will report for this.
Engi “stealing” an Objective from an Aura? Hell, report that Engi-ass! Vassili stealing a kill? Boy, every Vassili main will get hundreds of reports.
Instead of harrassment direct insulting would be a better option.
Harrassment differs from afar than calling people that hey are “unskilled” in some way. If you keep teasing, calling out how bad or just picking with anything a person does, it’s harrass, but just call a guy noob, I was not a properly way to say that, but sometimes everyone does.
Unsportmanship? Do you really can’t see the diff between that? In this game it has so many ways to create a situation like that. Engi blowing up some objectives and do not let the team deal with it, medics reviving people over, and over, and over and over again. Do you really see when you got a kill, a kill steal? In a freaking team composition based game, every kill counts, it is not just a number that you can brag about just because a medic got 1/16 and you got 46/2 just because you did your job. Very poorly post that you’ve made. Have you ever considered how toxic you can be? How can you let people down just because a single word or discussion that will bring your team to lose? Think about it.

/thread

I agree, Harrassment and Anti-game attitudes should be applied on the report menu, but it should be a way to verify all that, because can turn out several people like this Lauda-- and report a guy that is just having a bad day and it got punished being innocent.

That’s my cue. Cya

Do I? Nope. And normally I don’t care about such small things. Real unsportsmanship imo is like that “I get the drugs and will run around my spawn for 10 minutes with them” thing. But believe me, people will get butthurt and “triggered” by every small fart in this game if there gonna be an option for reports.
P.S. Why is http://puu.sh/kcgnM/6e80d73d34.png censored?

Also notice how the guy who says shit like this are usually mid to bottom of the scoreboard too. I find it kind of funny because of how retarded it is.

Yeah I agree, that completely ruins a 5v5 (or 4v5 as is what it turns into), however it is not their fault, and they should not be punished for it. Clearly they are in the wrong skill bracket, and the game should know this, but it doesn’t right now. MM broken.

Who knows, maybe that Fletcher was completely new to FPS games and was still figuring out how to hold a mouse, or maybe he was just listening to the community to PTFO and just threw himself at the objective without even trying to clear it first.

Everyone loves playing sniper, so you get those people, but again, wrong skill bracket, not their fault.

(FurriesAreAwesome) #51

It’s okay, Jellyfish. I’m a hacker because I used Bushwhacker and put my turret up so that it would shoot people in the back while they ran out of their spawning area. Yeah, I’m that kind of player. My feelings though… I immediately quit the game and sent all my money to local charity.

On a more serious note though, I wouldn’t mind a harassment reporting tool. 99% of the people I’ve played with have been really great, but there’s that 1% that really don’t have any business using text or voice chat.

(Jurmabones) #52
I’m pretty sure I can use swear words in a game that tells me to “deliver the fucking objective”.

As for reporting “unskilled” players in comp - why? Their rank will fall and “skilled” players won’t play with them.
That’s absolutely the exact opposite of reality. I’m just going to assume you don’t play comp otherwise you’d know, but let me inform you:

Every single day I play comp, I am put against unrankeds all the time. I’ve gone gold vs gold or higher maybe once in the entire last week, and I play every day. Hell, I’ve only even seen gold vs silver once ever and I’ve been doing comp consistently for about a month. The most common match by an absolute landslide is golds vs unrankeds. It makes no sense.

The whole idea behind having the ability to report people for being an “unskilled player” would be to create a secondary matchmaking pool that has regularly “unskilled player” reported players in it, rather than mixing in terrible unranked players against gold+ ranks which is what mm does now almost every single game.

If someone keeps getting reported even once they’ve fallen into the “unskilled player” matchmaking pool, they’ll have to stick to pubs for a brief period of time to get better. It’s not like they’re going to lose their actual game account–they can still play pubs; they just have to take some time to sharpen up and get their mind right before going back to COMPETITIVE.

People on the forums complain all the time about unfair matches, stacked teams, broken mm, etc. My suggestion brings two solutions at once: letting noobs play against noobs, and keeping people who have no business in higher level competitive out of higher level competitive. What’s wrong with wanting relatively equally skilled opponents with and against each other in matches? Whatever algorithm (or lack thereof!) they use to match teams now isn’t working.

Instead of having to overhaul or entirely replace the current system, they could add my basic suggestion for being able to “report” people for being an unskilled player. The option would only be available in competitive, and would only affect competitive. It would be a simple addition to the current system. Minimal work for an obvious improvement.

(Fleshpound) #53

I would agree on toxic harassment and feeder option(why feeder?? Because some may just charge 1vs5/6/7/8 enemies. Unless you are on cqc nader or proxy which could mean something then it is a disgrace for team).

And btw:I would need to use harassment already on giving us that option on some player(Name and shame rule doesn’t allow me to say the name) with Phantom on Underground.

He thought that on 4/7 player match on pub,we could win and we need to push heavily fortified positions with 2 medics,2 engineers,1 assault,1 fire support and 1 sniper :I

When we failed then it was a LoL community meter in toxic all over again :I

I can’t believe players like you think that one’s improper actions justifies your improper actions and no it doesn’t work that way and it causes even more problems.

Do NOT insult people in game, period. I don’t care what they did or did not do. There is absolutely no excuse to insult other people. You will NEVER find a legitimate case in which insulting has helped promote good player behavior, it won’t it will only make it worse.

Instead of telling people “Stop ****ing around” which to some can be offensive and or demeaning, tell them “Focus the objective”.

A general rule of thumb is that if you wouldn’t say it to your parents (or someone of authority you respect) don’t say it to them.

It’s not that hard.

Dear diary tumblr.

This really upset me, and triggered my PTSD, so I had no choice, but to turn the computer off, and cry in the corner, after of course informing the local internet police of this injustice.
So what I’m suggesting is, that we word filter every word that can be viewed as negative, such as “noob”, “newb” and “newbie”.
I also suggest globally word filtering every swear word in every language that ever existed.
We need to silence these awful internet trolls, who are out to ruin everyone else’s fun.
Think of the children, who are playing this game, who may come across one of these awful trolls, and then be scarred for life, like I have been.
We must be active, and put a stop to this, by both word filtering, and permanently banning everyone using these derogatory words.

“The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing” ~ Jaden Smith

With those inspirational words, I bid thee farewell, my friends.

xoxoxo

Thanks a lot, @srswizard . Now, instead of creating an account just to make this very same post, I’m forced to create an account just to thank you for making the post for me. Check your privilege, SRS scum.

Does anyone remember life before culture taught us to be gigantic babies about anything and everything, encouraging professional victimhood? Not even in games are we safe anymore from the hurt feelz card being played at the slightest provocation, good natured competitive banter, or legitimate critique/gameplay advise.

It started with the “everyone gets a trophy” movement in schools. Now we have this. Smdh fam tbh.

What could they possibly do to fix the fact that there’s simply a lack of good players in competitive besides being stricter about allowing different tiers (unranked, bronze, etc.) to play against each other? Besides which, they don’t charge money to play comp so there’s no incentive for them to work hard at pushing out an effective change to matchmaking compared to putting out more mercs, which is the only thing they’ve done consistently. The majority of people play pubs and care more about “new” content instead of current content being improved. It’s just a sad fact. Nexon/SD is aiming to make money, it’s their job, this game is a business to them. I’m just being realistic. Thinking they’ll make some magic change to comp is a pipe dream.

This thread is hilarious.
