[Feature Request] Report for Harasment/Unsportsmanlike conduct

(lovelyHat) #1

First: the new “Report Player” feature: WONDERFUL, Thank you, deeply and sincerely

That said, the options now are: “Hacking”, “Offensive Name”

Both of these are good, but I feel like it would be beneficial for the community as a whole if you added in: “Harassment” and “Unsportsmanlike Conduct”

Specifically for competitive matches, but either would be beneficial to casual matches.

Everyone’s had that day where someone’s having a bad game: be it there new, or trying a new merc, or maybe just in a bad luck streak. And then everyone has seen someone else decided that this first, unlucky person is the sole reason for all of their [second player’s] problems.

Other, competitively minded multiplayer games [to remain nameless] have implemented similar systems, and, in my opinion, they seem to help more than harm.

Good idea, but what should the consequences be?

(Yes) #3

Disabled chat.

Harrassment and unsportsman conduct are highly subjective imo. Is it harrassment if someone calls you a noob if you’re a noob? Not really, but you will report him anyway. And unsportsmanship. What is it? Not reviving a teammate? Yup, people will report for this.
Engi “stealing” an Objective from an Aura? Hell, report that Engi-ass! Vassili stealing a kill? Boy, every Vassili main will get hundreds of reports.
Instead of harrassment direct insulting would be a better option.

Mmmm, definitely…at least for the first few times, hopefully there won’t need to be consequences for repeated offense

This. Some people are just having a bad day and take it out on the only people they can. If this doesn’t teach them to chill then take it to a suspension.

Calling someone a noob is always harassment. It’s a term whose SOLE meaning is one of derision

Not really. If you’re a new unskilled player, you’re a noob. Period. It’s just a term like pro. Just the opposite.

(Jurmabones) #9

I think you should be able to report for unskilled player when in competitive, and if they get enough of those reports they’re not allowed to queue for competitive for X hours, days, etc.

Not really. Sure, noob means newbie which isn’t an insult. But noob in itself has evolved into an insult. You don’t call a stranger a noob unless you’re trying to insult them. So yeah, that can be considered harassment.

(Jurmabones) #11

What if they are out-right bad though? No one says calling the sky blue is harassment.

(Jostabeere) #12

This falls into the unsportsmanship. And how someone want to decide what’s a “bad player”. This is highly subjective and shouldn’t be a reason to punish certain people.

(Litego) #13

Is it also not harassment calling a black person a certain other word? I mean, they both mean the same thing…

But really, why do you feel the need to point out to a stranger that they’re shit at the game? How is that not an insult? Like I can understand if they start it. But otherwise that’s just impolite.

You can scream and shout all you want to yourself or your friends to get out the frustration (I’m not gonna lie, I do this from time to time), but I don’t think it’s appropriate to direct it at a stranger in a game. Remember, we were all in their shoes at one point in time.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I am assuming that since Dirty Bomb is licensed under Nexon America, there TOU (Terms of Use) applies to all their games. Under 2.2 Code of Conducts, While using the Service, you agree not to:

  • “Engage in rude, unlawful, harassing, vulgar, obscene, hateful, threatening, abusive or otherwise objectionable behavior, including, without limitation, looting, kill stealing, making sexual comments and/or cursing”
  • “Engage in spamming or flooding”

That being said, there is a difference between harassment and just being a poor sport or troll. In the end, the Nexon Dirty Bomb team will be the judges and they will make the appropriate punishments and decisions as they see fit.

I do agree tho, a harassment option of some sort should be implemented.

Today I had a stopwatch game that was 3 against 7. I was on the side with 3 players. Of course we got stomped, but then the other team start typing GG at the end.

You do have a point, but I mean people can still report you for a hacker for doing good or something weird since there’s always those kind of idiots out there.

Names should be handled by Valve as they use their service for them. If the game allowed you to set names independent of Steam I might think differently. As it is you can’t punish someone for having a name in a game because it’s their Steam name.

I know many disagree, but also that many agree, but I do not think anything anyone says in chat should be punishable. Instead I think the ability to mute players chat - I know it doesn’t work but let’s assume it does - solves this problem while allowing ‘free speech’ and the ability to let players vent.

I would support this with all my heart…

Yesterday, i had to play with this horrible bastard… A level 22 medic who NEVER heals any team mates, NEVER defibs anybody. All he does is try to run around and get kills… When i asked why the F wont you help us? I asked this when he ran over me while i was down without even thinking of defibbing…

The reply i got : Your mom sucked my dick last ni8, it was awesome. Chill noob its a game <----------

I really i could do something against bastards like this… But good thing? I made a random kick vote in the last min and MAGICALLY everybody voted YES ;D !

I’m actually sick of all this pc hand holding. If you get called a noob, so what? Every community, not just online has this. Do we really need to go the politically correct route to save peoples fragile feelings? This opens up a big issue because if we start trying to police what is offensive, it bogs down to either tons of hours for moderators looking at context and text from reports or having a system which is a usable. Don’t like that level 30 killing you, have you and your friends start reporting him. And people will abuse this, the same people who would abuse hacks and whatnot. Better if we all just grow thicker skin. Also, if someone is being a noob, they will get called out on it. It is the same in any team sport or job you will ever have. Grow up?

If someone is being a dick, just mute/ignore them…

(lovelyHat) #20

If its post match, in the review screen, I’ve always viewed just “gg” on par with the line-up hand shake between teams in any physical sport. Its just kinda base level sportsman ship, acknowledging the other teams effort. That said, saying “gg”/“gg nubs/scrubs/etc”/“gg ez” (worst offender) before the end of the match, that’s being unsportman…usually

Stopwatch has brought a wrinkle to that, as there can frequently be a point where the winner is determined but the game hasn’t ended…
