[Feature Request] Report for Harasment/Unsportsmanlike conduct

(neverplayseriou) #21

I call almost everyone a noob if he/she has clearly skipped the tutorial but has never played a shooter before…

(Sinee) #22

An ‘ignore’ or ‘mute’ feature would make more sense than forbidding shit-talking.

(srswizard) #23

Dear diary tumblr.

Today some big meanie called me a noob, on the internet, of all places.
This really upset me, and triggered my PTSD, so I had no choice, but to turn the computer off, and cry in the corner, after of course informing the local internet police of this injustice.
So what I’m suggesting is, that we word filter every word that can be viewed as negative, such as “noob”, “newb” and “newbie”.
I also suggest globally word filtering every swear word in every language that ever existed.
We need to silence these awful internet trolls, who are out to ruin everyone else’s fun.
Think of the children, who are playing this game, who may come across one of these awful trolls, and then be scarred for life, like I have been.
We must be active, and put a stop to this, by both word filtering, and permanently banning everyone using these derogatory words.

“The Only Thing Necessary for the Triumph of Evil is that Good Men Do Nothing” ~ Jaden Smith

With those inspirational words, I bid thee farewell, my friends.

xoxoxo

Come on team lets sit around holding hands singing kumbaya…

Or we could realise we should have some degree of maturity if were playing a game like DB and use that maturity to do something wacky like, say, oh I dont know … Ignore the nasty words in chat?

Ignore it, give it back or move on. At the end of the day its only a game and it should be fun so i get people think there entitled to play pester free but there are things such as free speech for a reason. I rarely look at the chat anyway, always either thr person I’m about to introduce my kek to or the minimap…
I’m actually sick of all this pc hand holding. If you get called a noob, so what? Every community, not just online has this. Do we really need to go the politically correct route to save peoples fragile feelings? This opens up a big issue because if we start trying to police what is offensive, it bogs down to either tons of hours for moderators looking at context and text from reports or having a system which is a usable. Don’t like that level 30 killing you, have you and your friends start reporting him. And people will abuse this, the same people who would abuse hacks and whatnot. Better if we all just grow thicker skin. Also, if someone is being a noob, they will get called out on it. It is the same in any team sport or job you will ever have. Grow up?

If someone is being a dick, just mute/ignore them…
/thread

Seriously. Only reports needed are for hackers or unskilled players in comp. So tired of all the crying about “toxicity,” as if being a careless trash can who thinks winning is mutually exclusive to having fun doesn’t make for terrible games.

I’d rather deal with “abuse” in chat than awful players who just dead-weight teams and cry about team scramble all game.

You think people who are “unskilled” warrant a report? That is a terrible mentality to have and you know it, there is absolutely no reason why a player who isn’t necessarily good at the game shouldn’t be allowed to play, especially for competitive since they may only be doing it to complete a mission. And I’ll just throw this out there, not everyone who is performing poorly is a bad player, we’re human beings and sometimes we just have off-days, not everyone can be 100% all the time. You also need to consider every possibility such as maybe this individual actually has some form of disability whether it be mentally or physically which impairs their ability to play the game like you or I.

There is a great deal of toxicity within the in-game community and most of it stems from people like you who feel they are skilfully above others and decide that gives them reign to be a d*ck to said individuals. Instead of putting others down why not try pick them up, give them a few pointers or teach them a few tricks, it goes a hell of a long way for newer players when they get that kind of reinforcement other than badgering them on and on making them quit so you can have a better match… you’re not above them.

With all that said I believe there should absolutely be a report feature for harassment, it’s not a common case but sometimes people take things WAY too far to the point of making players quit through verbal abuse, and this should not be tolerated.

(AirborneAsian) #29

If Nexon America disapproves swearing, they should ask Splash Damage to censor out bad words. Also, don’t take people harassing/ calling you a noob seriously. This game is for tough people. So stop saying ‘stop harassing me’ if the voice over harasses you too. ‘Bloody rubbish you lot are.’

(MarsRover) #30

I’m pretty sure I can use swear words in a game that tells me to “deliver the fucking objective”.

As for reporting “unskilled” players in comp - why? Their rank will fall and “skilled” players won’t play with them.

(neverplayseriou) #31

I got called a loser yesterday :’<

Then I became an addict :frowning:

How Can Mirrors Be Real If Our Eyes Aren’t Real

(Litego) #37

I find it funny how people here talks about growing up, being mature and just take the abuse. Seems to me that it’s extremely immature to throw around insults to strangers just because they’re not as good as you.

Sure I agree that people shouldn’t be so sensitive, but how I feel about it is not how everyone feels about it, and getting insults thrown in their face can make them quit the game. Personally I thoroughly enjoy being insulted, means I probably did something good, but I know this isn’t the case for everyone.

The other day I was playing competitive with a pretty terrible Skyhammer who never gave out ammo. Then someone on our team asked him nicely to please give out ammo, after that he turned into the best ammo guy I’ve ever played with in this game, went into some kind of hidden insane support mode. It was great!

Why the fuck would you need a report function for unskilled players in comp? That’s the most retarded thing I’ve ever heard. Obviously the comp gamemode in this game is broken as shit currently, and when it’s working you won’t be put on teams with absolute garbage. There’s a reason the rankings go as far down as Bronze 1, a rank you’ve probably never seen.

Profanity =! harassment.

(watsyurdeal) #38

Problem is people are overly sensitive.

I tell someone to stop fucking around and get on the point, they call me an asshole.

Well if the shoe fits, maybe you should stop screwing around and actually help me, you jerks.

(Ghosthree3) #39

Words are just words, in my opinion profanity is a flawed concept.

(frolicsomeCrane) #40
Names should be handled by Valve as they use their service for them. If the game allowed you to set names independent of Steam I might think differently. As it is you can’t punish someone for having a name in a game because it’s their Steam name.

I know many disagree, but also that many agree, but I do not think anything anyone says in chat should be punishable. Instead I think the ability to mute players chat - I know it doesn’t work but let’s assume it does - solves this problem while allowing ‘free speech’ and the ability to let players vent.
I agree with this. I may have a really offensive name, but it’s mine and I’ve been using it since I pretty much got my steam account 5 years ago. I ain’t changing it for more than a few days cuz I’m having that one fit to use something else for a bit.
